Are you going to stalk me all day with silly claims like this? It's gameday dude for all your rabble about how miserable I am you're even worse. I'm actually more optimistic today than I have been in months I hope Wilks has the team ready to play.
-
I was a fan before McCaffrey and I'll be one long after until I'm gone unlike some folks who have already declared they will become Bills fans if he's traded there.
-
The harsh truth of the matter is an RB who has missed double digit games the last few seasons isn't going to be the deal breaker on any potential new coach hires. We have to fact this fact.
-
I'd have to differ a bit on this IMO this is much more than just due diligence. We are going to shed some of these bad deals one way or another and he's probably been directed to do so by Tepper. That's not a good thing but given how hands on our owner has been it's likely the case. Hopefully things don't get too ugly.

You're clearly angry and too emotional over this conversation you're welcome to stop quoting posts that hurt your feelings bud.

You win the thread.

If the Panthers were deathly afraid of the dead money McCaffrey wouldn't be available for trade. They know it's coming sooner or later it was a bad deal all along it is what it is.
-
We are aware. The key to that within this current discussion is absorbing the dead cap hit that is coming one way or another with or without an additional draft pick to ease our minds and give us something anything to build on after wasting an 8th overall pick and the most expensive RB contract in the NFL. But again we do not hold much leverage if you want to continue to argue that there is nothing more we can discuss because it is fantasy.
-
I need to know one or multiple GM's personally to conclude that most of them will recognize that they can simply walk away from the table if we demand more than a 3rd or 4th round pick given everyone knows our contractual circumstances and the circumstances with the question of his availability given his recent run of injuries? Okay.
-
Hey bud I haven't discussed his cap numbers in this thread do you even know who or what you're responding to? Must be day drinking. For the sake of clarity his cap hit is 19 million next year and the same in 2024. Next year it would result in 18.3 million in dead cap to cut him and 10.8 million in dead cap to cut him in 2024. We really do not have much if any leverage in this except in the minds of some Panthers fans.
-
Oh that's fine we can maintain that position as long as we want it just leads us to the inevitable point where we simply cut McCaffrey within the next few seasons and hope and pray he doesn't miss multiple games again along the way. Your perception of leverage differs greatly from that of other general managers around the NFL.

He said she said doesn't matter Wilks controls his own destiny now I'm eager to see what he's learned over these last few years. This might not be a great opportunity based on the not ideal circumstances but it is a chance for him to prove people wrong. If it doesn't work out we'll have a decent draft pick to fall back on.
-
Says the guy who followed me around for weeks and even asked about my relationship status. Get some better material. We can ask for whatever we still have no leverage in this everyone is clued in to our circumstances. If we got a 3rd that would be a small miracle and I would take it in an instant.
-
Multiple firsts is the bar for an elite young quarterback. We look like idiots asking for that for a running back who has missed multiple games the last two seasons it doesn't matter how good people here think he is. And this after tucking tail and firing our 63 million dollar college head coach. It's gonna be awhile before we can dig ourselves out of full on joke status around the league.
-
We're probably stuck with him for one or two more seasons. Everyone but the Panthers and a small group of weirdos here know the position is devalued and you can get good production with even average backs.

REPORT: Burns practically a "lock" to be traded before the deadline
frankw replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
Valid but your point cuts both ways in this discussion. Those claims about being given incentives for tanking are all the more reason for teams to be extra mindful not to give any indication of impropriety. So again we're back to tanking talk being mostly a fan dream. -

Tanking is a fan thing. Might as well go ahead and prepare yourself for the inevitability that we win a few games and end up with the 4th or 5th pick. It's just what we do. -

Burns isn't getting moved in the middle of the season with an interim coach. I don't know that he's worth the payday he's going to ask for but if we move him what becomes of the rest of the pass rush? What sparse resources we have going forward will or should be used to continue to build the oline and make this boring offense formidable again. It's easy to say get what you can for him but odds are those fans will be singing a different tune when they see our nonexistent pass rush and jag QB's having all day in the pocket. -
He does want the team to win but all the things we've seen to this point signal he can't get out of his own way and that just isn't going to change knowing how he has been in business all his life. The only thing that would make me feel better about the long term prospects of this franchise is if he hires a consultant and let's someone else take the reigns this go around. But I do not see that happening based on his personality.
