  1. I was very critical of Ron Rivera as a coach for a range of reasons. But Steve Smith has been playing the victim for years now and it's just not working anymore. We know for a fact that he was disgruntled from the moment we drafted Cam Newton because of his own ego. That says more about him than anything he could say about Rivera. And yes Ron Rivera had a lot of faults. No excuses for it. We were right to move on from him. But ultimately Steve Smith couldn't hold it together with that group the same as he struggled to hold it together under previous regimes. He needs to grow up and accept his own role in the last few years of his Panthers career because there are things he could and should have done differently the same as anyone else. Stop seeking to only shift blame to everyone else and evolve or just stop talking and fade away. This isn't helping anyone and it is certainly not helping his image.
  2. I would certainly love to add a talent like Lloyd. But there is a legitimate question of how sustainable this model of chasing and potentially overpaying high priced free agents to resolve our issues is. It doesn't take a guru GM to sign the best available FA. We have many needs. Here's to hoping Dan knocks this upcoming draft out of the park. In the end that's all that will ultimately matter.
  3. Heavy risk involved all around. For all the talk of left tackle. The middle of our oline and center specifically was horrific just a few years ago. Led to much whailing and hand wringing. People are quick to forget.
  4. Obviously tongue in cheek hyperbole. But we do not need a first round RB to compete for a championship. We need intelligent roster building. That to me is the complete opposite of intelligent roster building because it is a prime resource at a devalued plug and play position when we have needs across the defense.
  5. If the Panthers drafted an RB in the first we should legitimately set fire to the stadium.
  6. Finding consistency especially from our go to scorers has been the key for this team and they are doing that. We are finally away from the selfish hero ball nonsense. But more than that this has been a team that was very unmotivated defensively in the past. They have made significant strides in that area. They also seemed to have learned and been motivated by that loss to the Pistons so that is a great sign. Sitting at 30-31 now it's time to see if they can sustain this to finish the season. Get in the playoffs and anything can happen.
  7. Did you watch the playoffs and the Super Bowl? Balanced team is the pathway to success. Our defense needs a ton of resources.
  8. The 2025 Panthers went to the playoffs with this behind center. What can we do with a marginally better passer?
  9. The coaches don't have to say it. The tape doesn't lie. This has been discussed before.
  10. What strengths are we referring to specifically? I mean when you have a guy you can't trust to throw to the middle of the field with confidence for physical and not mental reasons I think that has to go into the equation when you're talking about people losing jobs. If there is someone who should be losing their job present day in year four it's anyone that had a voice in the process of willfully choosing to limit themselves and cut off their nose to do so. *looks at Dan Morgan*
  11. Well if we're going down that rabbit hole then most of this subforum and a majority of the fanbase would be barred from participation because they didn't want Kon Knueppel they wanted Ace Bailey or someone else. And none of this is unfolding the way it is without Kon Knueppel. Just reality.
  12. I don't see the logic in focusing on perceived negativity for a franchise that hasn't won a playoff series in about a quarter century. Let's get in the playoffs and win and go from there. If these Hornets can finally get over that hurdle and win a playoff series you will see a different vibe from the fanbase that is for sure and it will have been earned.
  13. Yeah.....and so many never wanted him..... Absolutely hated the pick. Same with Miller. We should be very glad the Hornets front office finally trusted better judgment in both instances. For whatever happens from here at least we finally have some young promising talent reminiscent of the 90's Hornets.
  14. Dan Morgan is very likeable. He's a very notable former Panther. One of the best LB's I've seen play. But he is the GM now. Have to learn to separate the two. If he is unwilling this offseason in Bryce Young's 4th year in the league to address the QB room in a meaningful way and have a viable fallback plan at the most important position on the field then he deserves any and all criticism. I would say the same for any other GM in the same circumstances.
  15. This logic legitimately disgusts me. I could see if this were a QB who had more often than not flashed consistent top arm talent and had shown instances of taking over games but this is not that at all. It's time for the fourth year #1 pick to elevate the moving parts around him rather than need everything to not only go perfectly but those around him to make herculean efforts and the other team to implode to be successful. No sir. Build a complete roster and focus on the defense primarily. Do what you can on offense without making all in moves to the detriment of the rest of the team as we have already done. The steep investment behind center either rises to the occasion or we go another direction.
  16. I obviously agree we should have been building through the draft at OL all along. Not in in swoop. Just each year addressing it. That would have been the prudent approach. But like everything with this franchise from the owner on down they have had the "get there itis". The bad trade they made to select Bryce Young meant throwing out any and all logical pathways. They cannot make this mistake anymore. From here on build methodically and allow QB to resolve itself organically. When the time comes if we need to draft one we will have a well rounded roster with which to develop him in.
  17. Sexton was very likeable and played hard but he also had his cons. I agree this is a big upgrade all around. Hopefully he ends up sticking around too since he has local ties.
  18. I'll believe it when I see it if a deal actually happens. But if so great. Go younger in the QB room altogether.
  19. What would significantly help serve the next QB is a balanced roster sir. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2026/table/active/sort/cap_total Here take a gander at the salary cap totals to the offensive line for each team for 2026. Take note of how far down the list a number of playoff teams and the current Super Bowl champions are.
  20. Blowing out the Bulls in Chicago is always nice. Looks like Coby White is going to fit in here nicely.
