Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?
frankw replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
300 yards from his backfield but zero weapons. You are your very own echo chamber. -
At the end of the day Sam Darnold is not going to keep any defensive coordinator up at night. We will shoot our shot no matter how much folks like yourself dislike it.

So the Titans giving up on Malik Willis already?
frankw replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's still too early on Corral but I do understand why some people are now pessimistic about his future. With that being said seeing how much better even Sam Darnold looks behind a better oline and with real NFL level coaching who knows with Matt if he can bulk up some he has a chance. -

The Titans have been in a downward trajectory going back to last season and their workhorse RB has been banged up. I'm not surprised Willis is having a hard time working any magic with that team. Most people who saw he had potential knew he would need time. Not surprised certain folks are doing a victory lap. Probably the same lot who are now declaring Darnold a franchise QB after one win against the Lions with an historic rushing total from the backfield. -
More minutes for Mark Williams please.
-
Well whatever you want to call it let's both hope he learned a big lesson going forward.

Ryan Leaf in skinny jeans explaining to the world why Sam Darnold is a good quarterback is not what I expected to see today.

All this stuff is great but they have to keep it going. That Bengals loss really wasn't that long ago. Finish on a high note.

MMQB: Breer on Wilks/potential OC candidate
frankw replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't be so dramatic. We're going to take a swing and odds are we may have to do it again. Even a quarterback prospect you may be personally in love with could be a bust nobody knows anything for sure. -

In theory you would love for your new OC to have multiple years of calling plays but the Joe Brady failure has made some folks uneasy. I get that but it's important to put it in perspective and remember this offense is night day with the same players due to Rhule's ass backwards way of doing things and all the college scheme nonsense. We will have a number of options and we should weigh them all carefully. But it's equally as important we pinpoint who will develop our next QB. -

We don't know for sure regardless. If your only argument as to why he does not meddle at all is that Justin Fields is not a Panther then it's flimsy. In truth If Tepper didn't meddle we never would have wasted 3 years with that fraud Matt Rhule. Tepper could have hired someone knowledgeable all along to navigate that process to identify the right candidate with NFL level coaching experience. Instead he heard a hot name and hopped on his jet with Marty Hurney and got sold a pack of lies and gorged on delicious meatballs and fell in love with a candidate because he reminded him of himself. Sounds like a meddler.

He's reaaaaaally fallen off. Not all of it is his fault but I'm not interested in trading picks for this guy. Draft.

Article: Derrick Brown: We want Steve Wilks to be our head coach
frankw replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
No reason not to at minimum assess different options and make a sound decision. That's what a well run organization would do. -
Honestly Teddy Bridgewater probably got as much if not more vitriol here than Darnold so the melodrama about that is unnecessary anyway.

ForJimmy is one of the more level headed posters here if you're saying he's posting with hate goggles you are only revealing just how delusional your own takes are just an fyi.

It was a joke dude relax. Wanting him to succeed and some of the rhetoric here about his future based off one or two games versus an entire career of work that is not so pretty are different things and why many people are giving side eye. We've always known he has arm talent even when he was horrible with the Jets he would still have a few wow throws here and there. He's had those here in the midst of terrible performances. Even if he continues to look better over the next two games I'm still not jumping in the water just yet. I'm eyeing QB's in the first round of the draft no matter what. That's just me.

Oh lawd Glenwo is back on the Sammy juice

Oh I don't doubt that at all. That's the majority of guys looking to make a name on Twitter. That was just one of the first things that popped up when I searched Josh Norman 49ers. Like I said previously I was and still am a fan of Norman but I know reality vs fantasy and reality is sooner or later Josh is going to get cooked and some people will act surprised but it is what it is.
-
Woof. I predict some unkind things being said about Norman on the huddle in the not so distant future.

I like Norman but if you've followed a bit of his career the last few years you know how this ends. I give it about one half before people start to call for him to be cut.
