PFF - What would it take for Panthers to trade up for #1 pick
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If this staff were sold on him and we took Levis at 9 I could live with it and hope for the best. But if we trade up for anyone it should be Stroud. -
Yeah it's almost like a talented DE is 1B to 1A of the most important positions in the NFL. But muh 2nd round pick this year!
-
top dawg don't let the huddle Hank Hill get under your skin.

Idk about Reich but this is just about it for Fitterer regardless. He needs to hit on a QB. This is just as risky as paying Carr 30 million a year. Either way he's staring down the barrel. -

Folks wanted those meaningless wins now that it's time to look at the draft it's all... -
Intriguing prospect for sure we should be covering all the bases. ACL tear already before he's set foot on an NFL field can't be dismissed though.

Well put. I'm with ya. We all want the same thing ultimately. Well the non full time trolls that is. I would like to have Lamar here but if it costs a haul I'd rather draft one. Rodgers I'd accept but he's so wishy washy I'd still look to the draft over the risk of living with his annual will he or won't he retire drama. With Carr he's more of an unknown between the three. There are people rightly saying the Raiders are a mess. McDaniels is a well documented horrendous head coach. But at the same time I don't buy that it's all one sided. Carr has some of his own baggage if you believe the whispers about him personally and he's been up and down through his career. The talent is there the ceiling is high. But he's 32. He still had some nice weapons there. He was even reunited with Adams one of the best receivers in the league. Someone mentioned a comparison to Jay Cutler and that’s where I'm at. If we signed him I'd support and hope for the best but my gut says it would end the same as our last two attempts at this but that's just me. I think the draft is our only path.
-
Eh probably initially. Even when Haasan Reddick was here that happened. It will take some time and there will be some lumps but if Fitterer nails the draft that could negate some of the growing pains.

It's fun for the back and forth to argue but this shtick where someone tries to drag another for not knowing anything is pointless. 99% of people posting here don't actually know anything. In the history of the huddle there might have been a handful of contributors here with legit sources to the team. It's just sports talk. But let him strut around the room like a rooster with his 100k posts. It's amusing.

Weird that if we "like Carr" we've made zero known effort to reach out as of yet. Have to think that Reich already has the foundation of a plan for the position in place and gave a glimpse of that when he pitched himself to management. If that involves Carr you can't maintain radio silence for much longer.

Mental illness is real. Hopefully he gets some real help because if he doesn't he's going to be out of the league and broke.
-
You're so scared you don't even realize what you're arguing for now. You're way beyond "next year". Now by your logic no team should ever draft QB in the first round again because they could *gasp* miss. I'll be here giddy as a MFer if and when we draft a QB and ya'll can sit and be mad if you want 🫡

Cam was done by late 2018. We've had our opportunities but folks reveled in their Kyle Allen win streak in 2019 and rejoiced when we won meaningless games with Teddy Bridgewater in 2020 and with Sam Darnold in '21 and '22. But it's too late now. You guys can clutch your wallet all you want and tell yourselves we'll end up like the Jets or the Browns but you don't know any more than me or the next guy. And speaking of the Jets and Browns. We've been relegated to trading for their sloppy seconds (hi Sam hi Baker) because we've been scared to draft a quarterback.
-
We aren't solving the QB dilemma in trades or free agency. You swing when you get the chance. Reich didn't put this staff together to waste a season waiting on a QB next year. That's not how you run a franchise.
-
Yeah I did see some of the talk about how they may not be as formidable as they once were offensively. But you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with an opinion worth listening to who thought they were not still in contention for the AFCC. The way they are trying so hard airing out grievances after winning another Super Bowl is just cringe. I hope the Bills or the Bengals give them all they can handle next season. Parity is good.
-
The people banging the "next year" drum are just shell-shocked. And then next year rolls around they'll start to hem and haw about how that years class isn't actually all that good. Drake Maye is the flavor of the month just like Sam Howell was way back when his hype was at an all time high and people had him going first overall. Every. Damn. Year.

In what sense would the Chiefs be considered going through a rebuild at any level? They lost Tyreek Hill. But they still have Mahomes and Kelce. They are creating a narrative about "haters" that exists only in their minds. They have now become just as insufferable as the Patriots IMO.

Price to move into top 3 based on past trades.

If you believe in the prospect you are targeting make the move and shoot your shot. We can't keep being scared. -
Then what do you want? Darnold/Corral? There's just extremely low odds Tepper hired Reich and paid for this staff just to run it back with the likes of what we've already had. One way or another from my POV it looks like a big swing is on the horizon. Some of us might not like it but it's going to happen. We'll see.
-
I'd have to imagine the odds of striking gold on other teams discarded rejects turned reclamation projects can't be any better just saying. But let's pay Carr a boatload...
-
This time it will be different though. Third times a charm right?
-
Look who remembered his old password after all. Welcome back!
-
You're still stewing about McCaffrey? Time to move on big guy!
-
Tepper earned some harsh criticism you don't have to dive in front of that for him like that Elon Musk meme. If he's learned from the Rhule debacle and is letting real football people make decisions he deserves some credit too now. Of course we still have to see what will be done at QB. If we just throw a ton of money at Derek Carr (reclamation project 3.0) instead of drafting our own young QB in the first round then that will feel like going backwards and undue any progress made with these hires.
