  1. Well the investment is something us as fans can deliberate over but my concern is with the decision makers who were involved in the pick (Morgan and Tepper) using just enough basic improvement from him as a reason to justify the trade and selection by handing him the keys again and we end up with yet another season of a lack of any real competition. Then if things go south again as the season goes on it's a rerun of this year. That's my worst case scenario right now looking ahead. That would finally lead to me beginning to tune out from the team altogether. Just give us real competition. All I ask.
  2. I'm just going to respectfully and vehemently disagree with you on this. The return on our investment needs to be significantly more than a game manager. If not then we keep looking. I do not believe that is remotely unreasonable.
  3. I think we're at an impasse as you are refusing to address points made that go well beyond hot takes such as "Bryce Young is bad". I've already given him credit for today. The conversation is much more than just good versus bad. The conversation at it's root is does Bryce Young have the tools to consistently lead an offense to more than one or two passing touchdowns? We do not know the answer to that today. We know he played better and hats off to him. But the team around him also stepped up. And many negative things have been said about the defense this season. While they did take some lumps they helped keep the offense in this and certainly prevented a blowout. Credit needs to be given there too. Because typically in games with this iteration of the Panthers offense when they put up 4 field goals and only one touchdown against an offense with a young star quarterback it is usually not a close game. This was a team effort and a well coached game from Canales.
  4. How is bashing the fanbase going to make the team that has the worst win percentage in all of sports the last few years any better? When the team strings together some sustained success you will see better attendance. It's not any different from other struggling sports teams.
  5. Isn't that what skeptics are referring to? We would be ecstatic about that from our first overall pick? That's how low we've dropped the bar already. This is not a mid round QB. That's why these discussions get so tense. People struggle to separate Bryce Young the person from what Bryce Young the first overall pick is expected to be. And we have only moved further and further away from the narrative surrounding him before the draft that he was such a great prospect that he did not need to be surrounded by elite players to look like a franchise QB. He would elevate those around him. Until he does that IMO you keep bringing in competition and pushing him. Otherwise we are not a serious franchise.
  6. As much as I dislike the Cowboys I must say I've begun to despise the Commanders and the hype behind them so honestly I'm glad they got humbled
  7. Extremely relieved to hear he is okay. He will be an asset for us in the future in what has been a wasteland for the position aside from Olsen.
  8. This is realistically the second time he has had a "this is his best game as a pro" moment in nearly two full seasons. That's the definition of an anomaly until we see more of a sample size in the remaining games. We aren't even in Kyle Allen territory yet in terms of sample size. But to his credit he is showing improvement as a passer within the structure of his game. The issue is can he ever be that kind of QB who will elevate those around him instead of needing everything to go perfectly to just throw for more than one or two touchdowns or lead his offense to 30 or more points? He's done that once in his career so far. And at the end of the day we still only put up 7 points on the board from the passing game today. The team as a whole came to play. That's progress from Canales. That's my biggest takeaway.
  9. Right but there's no reason we can't invest a 2nd or 3rd round pick in another young QB as an insurance policy. It's crazy that basic notions like this about what is best for the team elicit such emotional tomfoolery and poo reactions. I can guarantee you if Canales wants to be a successful head coach he feels the same way about the position.
  10. We bought in after Green Bay. Right now Bryce just needs to focus on finishing the season on a high note. If he plays well good we will have a competition in camp. But no matter how the rest of the season goes that is what we must do. We cannot for a third season in a row hand anyone the keys and expect good things. What's that saying about repeating the same thing over and over expecting different results? Yeah.
  11. Canales had the team ready to play at home against the defending champions despite the odds. I love to see that and hope we can finish the season on a strong note despite everything we've been through. Progress is all I can ask for.
  12. Creating not one but two threads declaring him a bust is by definition petty and emotional. If you want to pretend none of it happened that's your prerogative but constantly crowing about haters and calling others idiots is delusional at best. I hope you have a nice evening sir.
  13. He played better than what his average had been for the season which had been one of the worst qualified passers. There's nowhere to go but up from rock bottom. Credit to him for improving from that. But we still need to blow up this QB room and have a legitimate competition next year. If we want to truly take a step out of the cellar and become a serious franchise that's the only path forward.
  14. That's all I asked for in this one. Just keep fighting. Especially at home.
  15. Been telling people we can't cross Tackle off the list as a need.
  16. Death Taxes The refs sticking it to the Panthers.
  17. I'll take any progress I can get. If he made a good play then he gets credit for it. But we are and have lowered the bar here. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that.
  18. I think they are fairly different on the physicality front so a lob from prime Russ is not the same IMO. He played baseball and could have been drafted. I can't stand him but he definitely had a knack for some wild throws.
  19. I can't watch at the moment. Was it a lob or a good pass? Seriously lol
  20. My goodness this franchise is snakebit.
  21. Who is enjoying field goals? You're tweaking for no reason bruv.
  22. Not going as bad as I thought it would but back to back field goals at home is eventually going to quickly give way to a blowout. Sooner or later Mahomes is going to get on the gas and not let off.
  23. Guessing you're on a bender today. Hope it gets better for ya big guy!
