We finally get an SCP sighting only to end up starting Andy Dalton on the road. The universe giveth the universe taketh.

At this point whether it's injury or an excuse to sit the end result is the same it doesn't matter. It's another faceplant for the Panthers.

This doesn't help Brian Burns contract talks
frankw replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
You can put him on the block but the offers are going to be lowball. For all the talk of him disappearing in games and being overrated I feel like even if we had Bosa he would eventually become apathetic with this franchise too. What the hell is the incentive to ball out every week when (A) your offense is consistently a fuging clown show no matter the coach or the QB and (B) when they can't even agree to a contract. -
Mods can we get a handle on these threads???

The huddle is no different than the rest of overall social media. What you perceive to be negativity here is present ten fold across the rest of the internet. Honestly you and others are being melodramatic this place is tame. What are the odds you have kids or nephews that play video games and act like total poo heads and tell other kids to kill themselves? Pretty high. Overall humanity and constant connectivity have devolved into a pit of toxicity. Your issue isn't with fans tired of mismanagement but with humanity as a whole. Join Twitter and go on and shout into the void and tell everyone how miserable they really are. I'm sure they'd love to hear it. -
Bring out Dalton

Well luckily just as someone has the right to have their nose up his keester despite the horrific results under his ownership so far others have the right to keep following the team and call out the buffonery until the possible day he either stops meddling and let's someone else make decisions or sells the team. -
The size concern is much less of a factor than his physical traits. Other prospects like Stroud have the arm talent to make downfield throws into tight windows. Young refused to throw at the combine and his deep throws at his pro day were not pretty. Yes our WR's are not doing well and the playcalling is poor. But expecting Bryce Young to make this a dynamic offense was a tall order. It was always going to be dink and dunk with a heavy run game.

7 winning seasons in 27 years hired an "all star staff" in the offseason led by our first offensive minded head coach. Then traded next years first DJ Moore and more to select Bryce Young at #1 despite concerns about his durability for his size and his physical traits and proceeded to hype him up as a shorter version of Peyton Manning. Only to look like poo in the preseason much like any other awful Panthers offense over the years despite people who think they know everything tell others it's only preseason we don't want to give anything away. Then start off 0-2 while Young becomes the lowest ranked QB in the league according to PFF and our offense looks as bad as it has in at least a decade. Now Bryce Young has an abrupt ankle injury that will apparently likely keep him out of just his third possible start as a pro. Did I miss anything? And you expect any fanbase let alone one such as ours that has seen so much losing and terrible circumstances to be sunshine and rainbows with this scenario? -

If our franchise QB we just traded very significant assets to select misses an extended amount of time this season the huddle and the broader fanbase is going nuclear. And you're worried about 24 hours? How about just don't login here. We aren't responsible for this mess that's on Tepper and his front office. -
Both have the dubious distinction of holding the record for one of the 10 worst single game passer ratings in NFL history. At this point in his career he stinks it is what it is.

Dalton will make a wow play from time to time and may even get us on the board but just like Darnold he will eventually have one or multiple boneheaded plays that sink the game for us. It won't be pretty in Seattle which is a tough place to play anyway.

I don't agree with some of the ugly stuff directed toward him but most of the stuff here is tame compared to Twitter. I also felt bad seeing his family struggling watching the game Monday night. It sucks a real human being has to face the brunt of all this. But that's what comes with the territory of being a number one pick. I spoke on this before the draft and tried to caution the hype train around him but many folks had already left the station full speed ahead. Now I'm the bad guy? No sir.

On the contrary. I expected a likely losing season again. I was sold that the trade was worth it because we would have a talented franchise QB to build around who in the meantime would be able to compensate to some degree for the lack of pieces around him because he was a "point guard" who could distribute the ball and make those around him better. What I've gotten instead is our rookie QB is the lowest rated in the league by PFF. It is not all on Bryce. But he's the signal caller and he's going to take a lot of the heat. Plenty of that heat should be going to Reich and Fitterer and moreso the Tepper's because I know they had a hand in steering the pick they might not have explicitly said draft him but when your boss clearly is in love with the prospect and he's constantly lurking around like Dracula what are you going to do? Back to Mingo. I'm expecting better from him but I'm sorry if I'm not angry about how he isn't A.J. Brown out of the gate but I wasn't sold on that with the pick. We knew he would be a work in progress and show some flashes in the meantime.

The Carolina Panthers built this story around Bryce Young and his "elite" QB intelligence. They told us they determined him to be the most pro ready QB in the draft by a significant margin. Instead of directing your scorn toward other fans for rightly describing this as a shitshow on arrival maybe start asking more questions of the decision makers.
-
The NFL has and will always be a what have you done for me lately league. If your issue is fans being impatient after giving up a haul of picks and a premium player maybe you should go join a golf discussion board.
-
He is a backup for a reason and the same people trying to sell me that he's this or that are the same ones who tried to sell us Darnold and Teddy.
-
We didn't give up a premium player and multiple firsts for Mingo while hyping him up as the most pro ready and cerebral player in the draft. I regularly observed folks here comparing Young to legends and hall of famers in multiple sports. The folks who created this illusion now want to yell foul about the reaction to the results and it's cringe.

Reich is ass so far. I'm also looking at our wide receivers coach. In all this staff is majorly underwhelming. I was concerned about all the fluff the Panthers PR was putting out about this group a few months back. Now it's becoming more clear.
-
I like how we're going for 2nd round pick Mingo's neck for having rookie struggles that were simultaneously making excuses for with our rookie QB we gave up a haul to select.
-
Gotta hone in on this a little bit more because it needs way more attention than a quick little blurb. This aspect was pumped up big time by our supposed biggest decision makers and so far it's looking poor at best. Bryce Young is going to get someone fired (deservedly so) if he can't turn things around. Luckily there's 15 more games. But unfortunately there's also two ways those games can go. I'm hoping for not more of the same. We'll see.
-
Well some of ya'll have been hating on CJ Stroud for months and now you've hit bottom and you're still swinging. I'd say maybe change the approach.
-
Are you okay?

Marty Hurney, Dave Gettleman, Scott Fitterer
frankw replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The fact that anyone voted for Fitt with his zero winning seasons is hysterical. -
My guy I've seen countless either mediocre or flat out awful QB's with my own eyes playing for this team. The offensive issues are not on one player and so far our head coach looks clueless but Bryce Young needs to play much better football too. I'm sorry you're too delicate to discuss that but we acknowledge reality here.
-
When you're the fan of sports franchise with 7 winning seasons in 27 years and zero winning seasons in the last 6 years you call a turd a turd when you see it. You can also hope it's possible to turn things around without giving new coaches who have already been fired once free passes because someone tells you that's what a real fan would do.
