Cam Defenders vs Bryce Defenders, maybe a pattern?
frankw replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
So why weren't you high on CJ Stroud? Was he not enough of a leader like Bryce Young? Just admit you fell for the media driven narrative. -
How many of these plays could Bryce make?
frankw replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
Now folks are saying the Panthers surrounded Cam with weapons throughout his career to prop up Bryce Young's very underwhelming start to his rookie season lol Cam had Jordan Gross for one season then the best he got for the next decade was Michael Oher for one season. Wack ass comparison. -
Delusional is believing our QB has performed up to the standards of a #1 pick. The team and the coaches around him all could be a lot better. But Bryce Young himself also could be a lot better. Some of you want to treat him like a newborn baby and protect him from all the bad in the world and the league but I'm sorry the rest of the NFL knows what's up now and defenses have all the film they need. He is either going to work out the kinks this season and salvage his rookie campaign with some wow plays like anyone would expect from a top pick or he is going to enter next season with the word no one wants to hear looming behind him.

Don't need these hypotheticals. I watched Andy Dalton push the ball downfield and get in the end zone with these same weapons and he's washed AF. I'm hoping Bryce is very motivated by all this and doesn't falter in the face of some very tough adversity. But I just don't know that he has the physical tools to do it in the NFL.

Brian Burns "liked" this post on Instagram

Neither Wilks nor Reich were the right hires. Both fired previously both conservative dinosaurs. We had the chance to go after a promising young offensive coordinator and we played it safe picking between those two. -

It's one single piece of data in a much larger puzzle. At the end of the day as a talent evaluator you have to trust your own eyes. When you have three QB's under consideration for a pick you traded a haul for you trust your own eyes when you see their phsyical abilities or lack thereof. You take either the most physically gifted or the best pure passer. It's honestly baffling to me how many people who are pretty damn smart and have years of football knowledge slept on CJ Stroud like they did. Even our own guys like Steve Smith Cam and Luke. But hey anyone can be wrong that's why the draft is a crapshoot. But really CJ's numbers and arm talent were there for anyone to see. We fell in love with other factors. Remember all the talk of leadership that supposedly CJ Stroud lacked? Such stupidity.

Cam Defenders vs Bryce Defenders, maybe a pattern?
frankw replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am immensely grateful for what Cam Newton did for our franchise in terms of changing the culture his willingness to put himself on the line to score his undeniable value to the team and for putting up with a great deal of hate from the media and some of his own fans. I do think he's unable to accept the fact he just isn't physically the same anymore. It sucks in his shoes I would likely have the same struggle. But time is undefeated against us all. Anywho I've noticed that a small number of Bryce Young fanatics try hard to draw parallels with the anti Cam racists and any current Bryce Young criticism and I cannot laugh at it hard enough. These same frauds had jack poo to say about CJ Stroud facing some of the same thinly veiled stereotypes that were directed at Cam Newton before he was drafted. They can kindly have several seats. -
It's interesting to consider how we might look under Wilks. But we did get to see and the ugly truth is it wasn't much better. The blowout loss to the Bengals and playing not to lose at home against the Steelers tends to lean toward another Rivera. And word is he wanted to retain Al Holcomb as his DC which was a hard sell to say the least. I tend to think making a run at Steichen until he said yes was the path forward. We went younger with Rhule but we went for a guy who had zero NFL experience who was a fraud and a con man that was our mistake. Since then we've reacted poorly by going for aging retreads like Reich. And honestly Wilks was a retread too. We can't get anything right under Tepper. That's where all the troubles begin.

Miles says it's "not cool at all" for fans to boo the team at home
frankw replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll never understand this. The league exists because of fans. Billion dollar stadiums built for this and most cities use tax dollars to fund them. Worry less about booing and more about giving people a product worth watching. -
I think your issue is you simply don't like what you're reading but if you do a quick search he received praise for the shorter quick passes it was the deep passes that were "flat". That doesn't sound "good". What's the opposite of good? Should I have said they were subpar at best? Would that soothe your sensitivity this morning?
-
Hey are you even reading your own words as you type them? You're actually arguing against your own narrative here. Then we took the wrong QB bud!
-
It is the Sam Darnold debates all over again.
-
The height thing has been debated into oblivion. His physical talent is what is impossible to ignore. His main selling point was his QB brain and how he was years ahead of his age in terms of his QB intelligence. He skipped the combine and was awful on deep passes at his own proday while CJ Stroud showed off his natural ability in that key area. Now 4 games into his rookie season we are asking ourselves if he has the physical talent to be a franchise QB. It is not an overreaction when the other QB's taken in the top 5 are very clearly showing off that phsyical talent. You either have that or you don't and it isn't fair but that's the sport. The criticism is valid.

Definitely some players and coaches started believing their own hype. But the cracks were surfacing as early as week 1 in preseason. Since then we've only regressed further with our super processor QB. Beyond how we feel about our offensive roster because we've argued it into submission at this point. Reich should not survive this season. I don't care about people saying it's early. He's already been fired before and he's not a young offensive mind. He's Ron Rivera on offense. Time to go.
-
I'm beginning to feel about Icky how I feel about Bryce Young. Great guy intelligent says the right things but simply does not look like a good football player. Both could pull a 180 and turn things around this season or even next season. Or this is just what they are in this sport. Feel good stories do not always amount to All-Pro NFL players. But they do have one thing going for them and that is our head coach looks like a complete dud of a hire and we need to get a look at them and everyone else on offense with a different coach running things. Reich is not the guy.
-
If you're having to go back to 1998 to feel better about the guy you picked it's not a good sign.
-
Where are all the Stroud haters? They have got to be in SHAMBLES. They dragged that mans name through the mud like he owed them money and cursed out their mother.
-
If we are going to have a firesale on our defense we probably should have done so before trading the farm for a rookie QB. Hardly anyone on this defense is going to be consistently motivated to turn in pro bowl performances week in and week out when backup Andy Dalton is the best available QB on the roster.
-
Wait now the Texans have had dominant all pro receivers all along just waiting for the right QB to drop into their lap? It couldn't be that CJ Stroud is elevating those around him and he also did so at Ohio St?

Respectfully disagree. If you give the MVP to anyone on the 49ers it's Kyle Shanahan. McCaffrey looks like a new man and is having the career resurgence other former Panthers have had because of Shanahan and he has been motivated and also reinvigorated by being removed from the team. It's just like when we cut Steve Smith. I don't think you get the 49ers version of CMC or the Ravens version of 89 without the trade or the release. Both were burned out by the awfulness of the Panthers by the end.

Quality post kind sir.
