I don't think anyone here hates Bryce save for one or two people on the extreme end of the spectrum. If you are so dug in on your position because he was your favorite prospect and you don't want to be wrong that you are manufacturing enemies because they are acknowledging his rookie season is going poorly it is probably a sign you should unplug some.

Apparently he didn't want to be here anyways I don't see any reason for us to argue over it. I can't honestly blame him. But we did pay him a great deal of money. He's doing fine. We used to be division rivals with them as kungfoodude noted. We also had a rivalry going with them back when Cam was still in his prime. No I don't care for the 49ers and I never will. They are doing well now because their more recent team owners finally stopped meddling and hired real football people to run the show. Our owner should take the glaring hint but he won't.

Panther Shopping for Number 1 caliber WR, Top Priority
frankw replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I vaguely remember the interview I think she in not so many words said they all wanted him to play on the west coast. I don't understand the loyalty some folks still have to McCaffrey. It's kinda fishy after he was perpetually banged up his last few seasons here as the highest paid back in the league all the sudden he's like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable. I mean good for him but he didnt win poo for us so I hope the 49ers get bulldozed in the playoffs again. -

As much as it is absolutely fair to question the level of culpability James Campen has in this it's also fair to say Scott Fitterer has had going on 3 years now to assemble an offensive line and it's gone poorly every time. We need big changes. -

Pie for your efforts. Videos aren't working for me either. -
Why isnt Lavishka Shenault getting more manufactured touches?
frankw replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
At the end of the day this staff is cheeks but I think we should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time and also note that these failed players Fitterer has traded for just aren't that good. Shenault has value in the run game but virtually nothing as a receiver. Which is why he was available. -
Kyle Bailey says Tepper isnt happy, wants changes now.

He was actually pro Bryce leading up to the draft. I'd rather converse with someone willing to acknowledge reality even if it means they were wrong over someone who spams posts about Andy Dalton scoring garbage touchdowns while hoping our #1 pick looks good against perceived lesser competition. -
It will be interesting to see how that "give the ball to CMC" formula goes in the postseason when they run into the Eagles again. People want to use his success with Shanahan and all that talent they have there on both sides of the ball as a reason why we should have kept having him eat up a huge chunk of our salary cap without a franchise quarterback because they value feels over actually winning.

Ironically even watching Bryce Young's proday had some people saying the same things we are saying 6 months later while others still try to deny the obvious because reality hurts. -

Yet for the most part we were able to keep up with the Seahawks in Seattle with 35 year old Dalton and they just blew out the Giants in NY. Keep living the fantasy. -

I would prefer this. But none of it will matter if Fitterer is still here. Hire a consultant to search for our next GM. Scott isn't the guy. -

I hope he's miserable he created this mess live with the results. Even we fire Reich and make Evero interim this season we are going to be lucky to find any decent up and coming offensive coordinator who would want to work in this environment. The only way we can change course is if he hires a consultant and allows real football people to fix this mess. -
Of course. He went all in on Bryce Young what else does anyone think he is going to say? Anyone can be wrong about a pick even former players. There's still a lot of football left though.

How many of these plays could Bryce make?

I think we are applying different personal definitions to the term swagger. I am strictly speaking on the field I am aware Bryce Young has a different personality. But to me swagger on the field is being confident in your abilities and your energy feeds into your teammates. There are different reasons for his struggles but Bryce Young is going to have to find that confidence in himself. Even if he turns the ball over forcing passes at least fire off. Show opposing defenses that you will test them. We have almost none of that. Is it all Young? I don't think so. But he does exhibit a tendency to be timid at times out there. If I and other Panthers fans can see it opposing defensive coordinators and players can too. He's going to have to show some kind of spark soon or teams will keep playing him the same way because they have no fear of his arm. -
The impressive throw you wanted from Bryce

This what we're reduced to hanging our hat on? I like OP for his content and he's a quality contributor overall but instances like this are why people who are realistic about his current outlook as a first overall pick can't have real discussions with some other fans because they are content with lowering the bar further and further. -

Oh don't be silly. Cam is not entirely unique in that area other QB's have that command of their offense and dog mentality. Bryce could develop it if he's to be the #1 pick we hope for he will have to. If not we picked the wrong guy. It's that simple. -

I could have sworn Jordan Gross played only 1 or 2 more seasons. My mistake. But I do remember what seemed like a lifetime of watching Byron Bell and Nate Chandler attempt to play left tackle and it was horrendous. Those two make Icky even with his sophmore struggles look like an All-Pro. And I think you and I both know if not for Cam Newton's heroics Ron Rivera would have been on the hot seat in his second season. He was conservative to a fault and he finally grew some balls because Cam had enough of that bs. At some point through all this adversity we have to see Bryce Young assert himself as the alpha the number one pick and the face of the franchise and show us even an ounce of that Cam Newton swagger. Build on something anything. -
Cam Defenders vs Bryce Defenders, maybe a pattern?
frankw replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk what changed for you then. CJ was the same guy then as he is now. Their stories are yet to be fully written but it would be very Carolina Panthers of us to have taken the lesser of the two. We talked a lot of poo about Marty Hurney and he deserves it but he does get some credit for having the stones to draft Cam Newton with a relic like Jerry Richardson in the background. But. To one of the few moments to JR's credit he didn't meddle in that moment like Dave. He let his general manager make the call. -

I think we look back on that roster with rose colored glasses bc of Cam. We filled in some gaps on offense but Olsen had yet to become the force that he grew into with Cam Newton. Shockey was pretty much done after that season. Our interior defense was a sieve for the most part. One of the few bright spots was having Steve Smith. But if you believe rumors he made Cam's life tough in the locker room. And Chud? The guy who lasted one season as a head coach? Cam was the only player drafted that year to remain on the roster. Again. We are looking at that season with a homer view. Cam was a generational talent who maximized some mediocre supporting casts and a very mediocre coach. THAT is what you expect when you draft a QB at 1. -

The one thing I'll say is both were dealing with mediocre at best coaching. But Newton had the clear phsyical intangibles you seek in a #1 overall pick that allowed him to overcome a great many obstacles including poor coaching at times. We took who we thought was the QB equivalent of Professor Xavier while passing on other QB's with traits that could be making a difference right now.
