  1. No he made it about people here defending Cam and not defending Bryce Young enough to his liking while ignoring the fact that Cam was a baller out of the gate in college and the NFL regardless of circumstances. How many other players from that Auburn championship team went on to have lengthy careers? I'll have to go back and look but none come to mind. We both know Cam and CJ were under a microscope and we both know why. I don't think you're paying enough attention we aren't going to agree clearly. I mean when I presented you with the actual data about the Texans run game compared to ours that shows they are right there with us you dismissed it. Then another angry poster came along and poo'd the post lol. Do I really have to keep giving you examples of the coping here? I've watched zero Texans games. I think I've seen bits and pieces of a few highlight plays all year. I do not watch other teams. I have lost a great deal of interest in the league outside of the Panthers. Bryce Young can be the worst QB in the league and I'll still check in to see how he's doing. That doesn't mean I'm going to cope myself into a mess like some other folks here. I've said all I can say.
  2. Firing Reich is the easy part. My concern if after Reich is gone is seeing how the next man up next year builds an offense around Bryce to not only fit his strengths and hide his weaknesses more but also make that a successful unit in comparison to the rest of the league. We are either going to be much happier or we are going to see some of the same issues. I'm thinking it's going to be a mixture of both.
  3. Reich his offense his scheme are undoubtedly complete poo. But he and the staff set themselves up for an even more uphill climb selecting the QB that required the most high quality moving parts around him to succeed. That's all there is to it. If we were deadset on gambling with Bryce Young we should have hired Steichen.
  4. ForJimmy this has nothing to do with you. I didn't say anything about you. In fact you were one of the people who was even handed throughout before the draft. I don't think you understand the post because you endorsed his remarks. He's been doing this. This is about a continued matter from some folks who want to utilize Cam Newton's circumstances and ups and downs when it serves them and draw parallels to Bryce Young that simply do not apply. There's no way CJ or Cam could show up to the combine and stand around in a hoodie with their arms crossed the whole time while everyone else did what was expected of them. Bryce Young has been afforded excuse after excuse that other QB's have not. He hasn't earned any of it yet. It's fine to acknowledge that. I think your last line says we're done engaging for a while bud. Have a good one.
  5. I think he does care about winning. The problem is he has an ego the size of Texas and only wants to win if he is heavily involved in calling the shots so he can soothe his own ego down the line and brag to people about his accomplishment. But none of that has happened and likely will never happen because he does not have a damn clue what he is doing.
  6. Icege is a strange dude. He will hide behind Cam now but I didn't hear a peep out of him when Stroud was being dragged through the dirt before the draft with criticisms very reminiscent of the ignorance thrown at Cam Newton. You know those old lines. Low football IQ. Questioned his personal off the field history. Said he wasn't a leader of men. Asked why he showed up to an awards show wearing a single piece of jewelry instead of sitting at home studying something. Where was Icege? Cam dominated college football he carried his team to and won a national championship. He threw for 900 yards in his first two starts. He gave people instant reasons not to doubt him yet they still did for reasons. His situation was very different from that of Bryce Young. To quote a former Panthers coach. It is what it is. Young has to prove it the same as anyone else before him.
  7. It's a hard pill to swallow hearing Stroud be compared to some of the best QB's of all time. And not like with us before he's even done anything or taken a snap either. He's actually proving it in real time. That Watson trade is crucial for them. Hats off to them for navigating that so well. Anyone can be wrong about a draft pick. Some notable and very wise former Panthers players were absurdly wrong about Stroud. That's how the cookie crumbles I guess. I can't lie to you and say I'm not a little bitter though. Down the line I will put a lot less stock in these things. It's probably the best approach. I figured we would be able to get in the end zone against the Bears. Big yikes. But maybe we'll see some glimmer of progress this weekend. Seems like a tall order. Here's to hoping for at least one trip to the end zone on Sunday and the game not resulting in too much of a blood bath.
  8. Quite a few people here wanted and assumed the Panthers were all in for Stroud. There's still time though. We'll see.
  9. Making a ballsy move is the easy part. There are people here who could make better personnel decisions than the meddling Tepper's. That's the issue and Mr. Tepper has been meddling all along. We have zero winning seasons to show for it. But go off about that after the fact analysis. How those boots tasting?
  10. Listen to the way he talks. "I've been involved in trades before". We are simply doomed with this man and his wife cosplaying as NFL decision makers.
  11. The bolded is really all we need to say and we agree on that. When you have a gifted passer he might make some mistakes along the way but eventually it's going to open up the rest of your offense. We both know Fitterer should be gone. But you would be hard pressed to have found many huddlers here back in late April who would have told you the Texans GM was one of the best in the league and we had assembled a skill position group that is one of the worst in the league. I think the success of Caserio boils down to the first part of my post. When you select a franchise QB it's easier for other pieces to fall right into place. But. It's still early for both franchises. It's a year to year process and one or two bad moves can send you back to square one. We'll see.
  12. And it's cute people keep running around spamming the number of picks CJ Stroud threw but blamed anyone they could think of for Bryce Young throwing 2 pick sixes to the same defender in one game. I honestly wouldn't be that mad if Bryce were turning the ball over pushing downfield but he's thrown some awful stinkers just not seeing the field and Dalton had almost just as many deep completions as Bryce has all season. You can have honest conversations about the differences between CJ and Bryce but the self deception is unnecessary.
  13. I like you Jimmy but this right here negates anything else you said and frankly just sounds like something poundaway would say. They have 71 more rushing yards on the season than us. Their run game just had their first big day and it only took half a season.
  14. This is a legitimate criticism. But do you realize that's Bryce Young's game? We run so much shotgun because that's all they ran for him at Alabama. Reich and the offensive staff are poo but they constructed this offense around Young's supposed strengths. We have to take Bryce off the field on QB sneaks. Our offense is limited with him. We can eviscerate the staff all we want for scheme and playcalling but they did this to themselves selecting Young.
  15. The Texans are 25th in the NFL in rushing YPG we are 27th. Stop. Coping.
  16. I totally hear you. The best thing I can say to all this is it is a good idea to try and detach the people posting in favor of Bryce to illogical lengths from Bryce himself. I think he can still be a good QB for us at least to salvage this whole thing. I'm trying to be fair to Bryce the person and not hold these takes about him and Stroud against him as a player. It isn't his fault we drafted him to these circumstances and told Shane Steichen to kick rocks. All that being said he is being paid quite significantly and we don't need to baby him. He's going to come out from this whole thing that much tougher and wiser or it will go the other direction. I very much hope it's the former.
  17. Before and after the draft the Texans were not predicted to be a competitive team at all. Many assumed they would be heading to another top ten pick to load up and build around Stroud while he learns and inevitably struggles. That hasn't happened so the goal posts have shifted to they are bursting at the seams with elite talent. When in fact it is both Stroud very good coaching and some talent being maximized by the first two that have them looking the way they are competitively. I actually logged on here with the intention of bringing some clarity to the Bryce Young situation and the criticism that has been laid at the feet of this kid and this thread eliminated that entirely. The coping mechanisms here are killing natural discourse as much as anything else. My goodness just stop.
  18. If you keep Fitterer he is going to trade more assets to try and save himself so the argument that you are leaving a new regime a whole pie in 2025 doesn't hold up. Somewhere down the line Scott will do something dumb.
  19. Icky is definitely having a sophomore slump but I can't say how much of that is him or the offense we've constructed. As for last year our shotgun percentage was 54%. Being as we are barely halfway through the season there isn't much statistical data on our shotgun vs under center snap counts but I can tell you what I'm seeing with my own eyes and the type of offense Alabama ran with Bryce. We run a fug ton from the shotgun. Our offense scored the most points it has all season with old ass Andy Dalton taking snaps from under center and opening up the offense with play action. If you want to dismiss it by all means that's your prerogative. But it's an issue that's going to continue.
  20. There are factors not helping the oline that are directly impacted by the offense we have built around Bryce Young to fit his strengths. Such as the fact virtually all of our plays are out of the shotgun because he does not take snaps from center. That removes play action it makes the job of the defense easier and it can't be helping our run game either. We are predictable for that reason as much as we are poor playcalling. We knew of what these limitations of Bryce Young were when we drafted him. As for the defense we couldn't reach the end zone against the second worst team in the league maybe we should worry about the O first.
  21. I misread the thread title initially but the point remains. I'd pay to watch the Hornets before the Panthers right now and get better seats for the money too.
  22. You aren't the purest Panthers fan in the Carolinas because you lick boots.
  23. The sad truth is even if Fitterer is fired David Tepper will just hire another pal/yes man as GM to replace him.
  24. Hurney was atrocious in many ways but for that moment that was an extremely important crossroads in franchise history he shut out the noise and made his pick a slam dunk. If a lot of people on the carolina huddle had their way we would have drafted Marcell Dareus.
