  1. While you rabble about internet GM's. How are the Panthers scouts and front office folks who are paid handsomely to do this for a living doing?
  2. I don't blame Bryce Young for doing what was in his own best interest as a prospect. And Tepper and Fitterer are buffoons who should not be allowed anywhere near making decisions for a football franchise. But Bryce is absolutely not without responsibility in this. He took advantage of the benefit of the doubt that playing for Alabama brought with him. While QB's like Stroud AR and Levis were painted as poor leaders with questionable character or low IQ. Yet he received the benefit of the doubt at practically every turn. Yes he took advantage of this and conned teams at the combine. There's no use engaging in mental gymnastics about this. It worked. Either way he's set now Panthers or no Panthers. Good for him. Bad for future prospects.
  3. You sure were eager to talk down to folks because they were offering some truths of the situation you didn't want to grapple with just a few short months ago. We're done just blindly blaming the OL and weapons my guy. Tommy DeVito is an undrafted walk on and he's leading the once floundering Giants to wins. What about the first 8 weeks was so impressive? We're still hoping just to see Bryce Young make basic throws any of the other 31 starting QB's are expected to make. Not even wow or miracle type plays. Just basics. He definitely will get next season but if it's more of this there's zero chance we go into 2025 without drafting a QB and just handing Bryce Young the job. I don't even want to do that next year. He needs some real competition in 2024. That needs to happen for the good of the locker room.
  4. The Giants and their league worst oline look like a different team under Tommy D. Levis can make throws #9 could only dream of. Look what you've created Mr. and Mrs. Tepper.
  5. Brother. Brother. ... Brother..... Andy Dalton would have connected on that wide open deep pass to Mingo at the very least. What the offense needs is some confidence. Andy as mediocre as he is still has the arm talent to make that happen. We've got Falcons Packers Jaguars and the Bucs. Let's not bullshit ourselves and each other. Andy would likely win two of those.
  6. Just under 38 million dollars guaranteed to be the worst starting QB in the league and one of the worst performing rookies in recent memory. Not a bad gig if you can get it. Sam Darnold would be jealous. He'll be okay.
  7. How you holding up bud? FYI if you sit him at any point this season you have waved the white flag and admitted he is basically a bust. Dalton starting and winning would seal it. For better or worse Bryce will be finishing the season and he will get at least half the season next year to show any inkling of play worthy of a top overall pick. There's no delaying the inevitable. Buckle in and prepare for more chaos.
  8. This is a sobering thread to revisit. So many thought the Texans win was a sign of things to come and Bryce Young had arrived. Others were baffled over the level of rejoicing over 15 points scored and still concerned going forward. Life comes at you fast folks.
  9. I must say you are certainly committed to blaming anyone on down to the team waterboy for Bryce Young playing poorly and losing. What a guy.
  10. Yes surely some much needed time off is what the team needs.
  11. https://www.carolinahuddle.com/topic/223449-bryce-young’s-qbr-now-barely-higher-than-jamarcus-russell’s/
  12. I know some Alabama fans and they are great people. I just feel the way I feel about this and if someone wants to say I'm being unreasonable then so be it. I still feel the way I feel. With Saban it's just arrogance and the perceived prestige that is brought along with the reputation of Alabama. Often time that team is quite literally men among boys. The league is seeing two of the current worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL thanks to Saban and the hype machine of Alabama. Yes we do indeed have utterly incompetent fools running our team but they were not the only ones who bought into the Bryce Young machine. The broader sports media also plays a substantial part in this. Generally any of Bryce Young's faults or concerns were minimized in the weeks before the draft while Stroud was under a microscope for every little thing including just being a QB from Ohio State even though as we now know he is the superior prospect in every way. In life we have to learn things the hard way sometimes. I definitely will look at the draft and the intricacies involved specifically with QB's and the evaluation process differently going forward now.
  13. I don't think you are being consistent. You accuse others of ignorance but you are clearly burying your head in the sand because you've got blinders on to this particular subject. Not at all my friend. I hate it that my team has fallen into such a pit of despair. But the last thing I'm going to do in the midst of this mess is lie to myself about the things I'm seeing. Are there different issues happening? Absolutely. Do those issues also unequivocally revolve around the fact our #1 pick is looking unworthy of the trade we made and the pick we selected him with? Unfortunately yes. Does that mean I think he is for sure a bust at this very moment? I'm not in the full confirmation stage just yet. But the issue is his inadequacies that will hold him back from ever taking the next step cannot be changed. He is who he is phsyically. Wherever we go from here next season I would bring in legitimate competition at the QB position. Do not simply hand anyone anything. It must be earned.
  14. Oh boy. You had to know the cope brigade would be licking their chops waiting to throw around the fact the Texans and Stroud got thumped. Rabble all you want about the "entire" football team. But generally the team goes as the QB goes. In the Cam years when he was on generally that translated to the rest of the team. When he wasn't the whole team looked deflated. With Bryce Young honestly I can't recall a time the team hasn't looked deflated. The one time the offense showed some true life was with Andy Dalton.
  15. Dead last in YPA QBR and when accounting for the fact he has twice as many starts as the few QB's below him in passer rating he's basically around the same there too. But we just can't evaluate him!
  16. Also now and forever it's fug Nick Saban and Alabama as far as I'm concerned. I can't believe people here thought an endorsement from that snake oil salesman was a sign we just picked a hall of famer. Yet the same folks thought the S2 was the new cheat code for a fast track to a rookie franchise QB. Stop buying into nonsense and just get back to drafting good football players.
  17. @poundaway Are you alive out there? How you holding up? Be well 🫶
  18. It's a depressing reality to face but it's not healthy to live in denial. Good on you for recognizing and accepting the circumstances. So much of this was discussed before the draft and when I say people wanted no parts of hearing about it I mean they were vicious. You couldn't suggest there were any flaws in Young as a prospect and if you did prepare for a poo storm. But apparently that's more than our front office did they didn't even consider any cons apparently. Just unforgivable incompetence.
  19. Honestly. Mac Jones was a significantly better QB at Alabama than Bryce. And he is ass cheeks in the NFL. I feel like for Bryce Young to turn this around and have a hall of fame career he would have to be the ultimate outlier. Second only to Tom Brady.
  20. Big props to Derrick. He plays with a great deal of heart. Best player on the team.
  21. Absolutely. I do not want to see this team completely set back for the next 2-3 years minimum. I would be thrilled to see Young do a full 180. But I've seen enough bad QB play from this team over a few decades to know. 2 consistent long term starters in nearly 30 years of Panthers history says generally what you see is what you get. And certain people who did a full victory lap around the fact they broke the news of Bryce Young being the pick telling us they can't evaluate him is akin to an alcoholic telling people they don't have a drinking problem. Nothing but an eye roll from me.
  22. That's mainly just about perceived self preservation on their part. They don't want to take a hardline stance arguing he could be teetering on the edge of being a bust in the event he magically just turns it on and looks the best out of all the QB's in his draft class class next year. Internet reputation is serious business.
  23. The throw anyone and everyone else under the bus blame game some folks want to engage in will last the rest of the season. By midway next season this "it's impossible to evaluate him" stance will mean nothing. In this league you either show some kind of spark with what you've got to work with or you fizzle out.
  24. When he hid and didn't throw at the combine that should have made Stroud the unanimous first choice for any competent front office that is looking for football players and not good dinner guests.
