In theory I agree with you. But in practical terms it's not realistic. And the team got something for him rather than nothing at all. Don't hold your breath on getting anything from a league office that enthusiastically allowed our only MVP in franchise history to be headhunted multiple times on national television.
-
If you want to take a glass half full perspective that's certainly your prerogative. But by the literal definition of the term waste as of right now that is what the pick was.

Thielen took a paycut to leave. He wanted out.

Kind of strange we've heard not a peep from the team about it until this transaction. So we made it through camp and preseason just to have him get hurt in practice roughly a week from the season opener. Then you factor in our left tackle getting his appendix removed. This is like a tradition for us at this point. What are ya gonna do. We won't be seeing Coker for at least a month. Let's hope Renfrow is up to the task. This is like swapping one injured guy for a guy who's already been hobbled. Not exactly a solution.

The man took a paycut to get up out of here but it's beyond the pale for anyone to suggest he wanted to ride off into the sunset with a different QB room.

Just for clarification purposes in 2024 we were 18th in rushing ypg and in 2023 we were 20th. We're not exactly lighting the league up regardless. My understanding is Canales wants to further solidify the run game this upcoming season which is a valid path. But we've still gotta get the passing output up. And realistically with our defense still very much in the rebuilding stages it's fair to ask how often we will be in a position from a clock standpoint where we can just keep running the ball at will. -
With Mr completely I just let him be him. He does have quality posting when he wants. We all troll a bit sometimes. But I think we all more or less want the same things. I appreciate the fact that you and I can have spats but still come back later and be rational adults and not hold months long grudges. So kudos to you for being an adult in the room.

Doesn't matter. 31 other teams didn't draft an already seriously injured player in the second round. We did. So far we've wasted two years of his lower cost rookie contract. Either way it was a waste we can't afford. Is it the players fault? Of course not. But our FO has to use better judgment. It looks like they've learned something so that's at least a plus.

I would think the first one he was currently in the middle of recovering from would be an indicator of risk. And that's why you don't take that risk in the second round.

Sounds like after the fact I got what I want now I'm out the door coach speak to me. How he feels about Bryce Young personally ≠cosigning this QB room. To me he lowkey expressed how he truly felt when he went completely out of his way to very enthusiastically praise a rookie QB who has yet to play a single snap in the regular season and say he could become the face of the league. That says more to me than this coach speak level out the door babble. What's truly goofy is reading someone whailing about having another person on ignore and still daily getting reaction notifications from that person. As usual you're up at 7 am mad af. You have serious psychological problems. At some point the mods need to reel you in if you refuse to get help. Because you are going to have a complete and utter meltdown when this team inevitably struggles.

Even with the progress last year we had the 30th passing offense and the 32nd passing offense before that. We're hopeful. That's about the best anyone can say. -
Weren't we the only team that interviewed him?

If Bryce cannot elevate himself to a top 15 QB with the pieces we have put around him and the resume we were sold before the draft then he was never that guy to begin with. Can we please stop invoking Cam Newton in defense of our first overall pick? Newton was rookie of the year in a lockout season when many many people here on the huddle said he was a one productive college season project who wouldn't do much and should sit behind Billy Volek. He took relentless grief from the media and this fanbase over the years for just trying to bring a better culture to the Carolinas. -
Well I'm going to have to take that back I suppose. I had forgotten about him spending time on the commissioners exempt list for domestic violence and cocaine. Suffice to say we aren't the ideal destination to try and keep someone with off field concerns on the straight and narrow.
-
I mean most of us would be thrilled to see a reversal of fortune for the pick. But it seems to be a longshot right now. Furthermore the whole point of drafting RB's is to get the most production through their rookie contract. Which we have not done.

I don't see any harm in kicking the tires.

I see the article he linked referenced the big time throw metric. Never seen that used so often before Bryce Young. That data would have you believe Bryce is a better big time thrower than Josh Allen Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. Sound a bit far fetched? I can buy into optimism but anyone that actually believes that right now before Bryce embarks on a key prove it season is not existing within reality. I'd love to see it though. Time will tell. -

Sounds like mental illness to me. Hope it gets better for you bud. -
Doesn't sound like Thielen had much confidence in the QB room in Carolina. But he went out of his way to talk glowingly of the rookie QB in Minnesota just two months ago.
-
As much as it was Fitterer it was also impatience from ownership. The FO at that time couldn't decide if they were in an actual rebuild or trying to win now. Moves were made in a vacuum that made no sense from other corresponding moves. That's been the story under the Tepper's.
-
I'll be curious to see if after it's all said and done he ends up justifying that level of compensation looking at past recent trades for the same package. That's not even mentioning the contract. But certainly the Packers are a force in the NFC now. McCarthy and the Vikings will have fun with that

At this point all that matters is if the Panthers establish the deep ball. If it's more of the same defenses will go back to playing our QB the same way they always have. And that only makes their jobs easier. -

That's awful but this is the predicament Dan Morgan put the team in. He can't pretend like there weren't red flags. -
If we bring him back cool. If not it's not as if it's going to make or break the season.

Speaking of connecting the dots. In actuality the poo function itself used to be only merely symbolic. It was changed to reflect neg rep as a counter measure for truly egregious posts spammers and rude rival fans. But there are unfortunately a few people who use it solely for personal retribution on a fairly regular basis now. If that sounds like an unhealthy toxic personality that's because it is. Glad I could help you connect those dots.
