  1. Comparing the average working person to a 22 year old sitting on a guaranteed 38 million dollar contract isn't going to win many people over my guy. Just a heads up.
  2. At this point err on the side of caution until camp begins lol
  3. He was what. 46th in passer rating for the 2023 season? Do I want him to be a good QB? Yes. Is he based on last seasons tape? Absolutely not. What is it with this fanbase and being averse to recognizing reality? Seriously.
  4. If the current QB isn't the answer you keep drafting one until you hit doesn't matter if it's one season two seasons three seasons or 5 seasons. Some people just can't remove emotion from the equation. It's about the team. The franchise. That's why when you find that guy you basically give him the key to the city and any amount of money he wants when the time comes. If that happened to be Bryce Young no one save for a few random trolls would be complaining. Because winning solves everything. But reality and percentages are a thing. He faces a steep climb to become a good QB let alone elite for many years. People who cannot grapple with this are unable to remove that emotion mentioned above. It's that simple.
  5. It would be nice to see #9 prove people like this laughably wrong. That's why many Panthers fans myself included were wanting to see how much time he'd dedicated to his craft following the conclusion of the season but then he showed up and let everyone know he pretty much crawled under a rock. Somehow the Panthers social team thought this was rather amusing after what we'd sacrificed for the rights to draft him. Baffling lack of awareness all around. It's interesting that we go from Levis being least desirable of the class and a complete and total meathead that would alienate himself from his teammates to being talked up as possibly emerging as one of the better young QB's entering the 2024 season. Man what a whirlwind the last 12 months have been for the people who fully bought the hype machine in the lead up to the 2023 NFL draft and did victory laps like they had their very own sports almanac from BTTF. Life comes at you fast folks.
  6. The "I'm a better fan" card is getting really old and only serves to pour fuel on these discussions and people who choose to engage in this should reconsider their position or consider whether it is everyone else that is the problem or themselves. Anywho. The same vehement defenses of Bryce Young were also made on behalf of Kyle Allen Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold. Nobody here knows what's going to happen. Nobody here is better than anyone else either. Why? Because no matter what our individual day to day thoughts on the team may be. We are still here.
  7. Here's my thing. Someone like Sam Howell was sacked just as many times as Bryce Young was and he was saddled with a not good coaching situation on top of that yet he looked significantly more capable of a passer in general than Bryce Young did at any point in the season. And he was jettisoned to another team after one single audition season. This league does not wait for hopes and dreams. It doesn't matter where you were drafted. If Bryce Young is the undisputed starter in 2025 it will be because he had a sophomore season very similar to CJ Stroud's rookie season. Just being a Teddy Bridgewater lite is not going to prevent another QB from being taken early in next years draft. Just because some fans have taken to lowering the bar down below the surface of the earth's crust does not mean Morgan and Canales have the benefit of that approach. Unless Bryce wows us all he will assuredly have real legit competition for 2025.
  8. There is such a wide disconnect in these discussions on Young because some fans cannot differentiate what ultimately amounts to blind faith based solely on fandom loyalty from real world data and results which say Young finished with one of the worst rookie QB seasons since the Carolina Panthers were introduced to the league. In this era and generation of the sport your arm talent either stands out or it doesn't. That's what we need to see. None of the other moving parts matter without that.

  10. All this talk of the supporting cast and coaching being the culprits of our struggles is just sounding like the rationalizations of Sam Darnold's time with the Jets. I'm ready to see the results and know what we have. Enough talk. Thank goodness June is finally upon us.
  11. As much as I want to talk trash about the Bears. The trade and not selecting Stroud aside. It took an extremely rare Panthers punt return touchdown (thanks ISM) for us to even get in the end zone against them while they started Tyson Bagent and moved the ball better than us. To know how poorly that franchise has been ran over the last 20 years and be considered an inferior team in almost every way in comparison (until proven otherwise this upcoming season) is.....rough. Thanks Mr. Tepper.
  12. The hall monitor has spoken. Shut it down everybody.
  13. Not rocket science eh? It's a desperate comparison no different than the pre draft comparisons to athletes in other sports like Steph Curry. I remember arguing with you quite a bit about Teddy Bridgewater back in 2020 and he was substantially better as a Panther than anything Bryce did as a rookie but I don't remember you advocating to compare him to hall of famers.
  14. Can't read anything into it this early. Worth noting that there were several people here who declared CJ Stroud a bust after he looked shaky and threw a pick in his first preseason game.
  15. Honestly at this point it's getting disrespectful. Mills played for a small Division 3 school went undrafted and it took him years to get anyone to believe in him in the NFL. Bryce Young had some of the best coaching available since high school and played for a modern college football dynasty and one of the best college coaches ever on top of getting every excuse imaginable afforded to him even when he refused to participate at the combine and some of his peers in the same draft had their character attacked on a daily basis. Through all that he still went #1. Stop the disrespect.
  16. What does a linebacker have to do with a QB other than trying to draw parallels for feels? Folks spent weeks comparing this kid to hall of famers before the draft but somehow it still just isn't clicking. How about just let him prove anything at this level and go from there.
  17. Best case scenario is this was a large part of the problem and he is a new and improved version of himself. The other side to this is he got significantly worse after Reich was canned. Also just because we've lived it after trading for him. We have to acknowledge the same oft used defense of Sam Darnold. Which was.....*drum roll*.... Mentioning Adam Gase as many times as possible until everyone believed he was the ultimate boogeyman.
  18. Ah yes because we disagree it is time to go off on a tangent about how much others post. Hey. Here's a current events update for you free of charge sir. The Entire Civilized World Is Perpetually Online Join X and scream into the void at everyone there with your takes on how much time people spend online if you are concerned about it. What this has to do with you pulling Cam Newton into this conversation because Bryce Young hasn't lived up to the hype of being the best natural leader since Peyton Manning is a mystery. Most of us want him to meet and exceed expectations and do not want him to end up a bust. But we also don't have to compare him to Sam Mills Steve Smith Cam Newton Christian McCaffrey or other HOF quarterbacks everyday to justify optimism. I appreciate your attempt at a conversation. Have a good weekend.
  19. I can't find video of it because it was 13 years ago (that is insane) but this is rookie season Cam and I know Panthers fans remember this one. https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/10/9/2479170/saints-vs-panthers-cam-newton-steve-smith-fight-video Can you even imagine Bryce involved in any kind of on field scuffle let alone running into one? Let's just keep Cam out of all this. The man was rare.
  20. Idk what's happening on the last page of this thread but if anyone was around through the entirety of the Cam years and sums him up as cool calm and collected like he was some boring milquetoast they must have been watching something else. I mean I guess I imagined all the taunting and over the top celebrating and the ensuing constant handwringing over that from certain people in our fanbase for about a decade. If Bryce is low key and that works and translates to wins and better days in the Carolinas for Panthers fans I'll be on board. But let's not rewrite history regarding one of the most heavily scrutinized QB's of the last 20 years.
  21. It does seem to convey inconsistent messaging. But I'm going to give them at least the first quarter of the regular season to show me some edge. If it's more of the same I'm going to call it like I see it. Some folks are caught up in emotional attachments I'm beyond all that. I just want a winning culture and whoever we need to replace to get there is what should be done. It's always about the betterment of the franchise.
  22. Even all the rookie QB's who haven't played a single snap ranked above him? I really hope Bryce is using all this as motivation in some capacity. Because if this doesn't motivate him I don't know what will.
  23. Stewart had ridiculous lower body strength. That was key to his game. If Brooks builds up on that which i assume he will there is nothing to be concerned about.
