Not at all surprising. ST is a decent starter but by 2022 he will have an 18 million dollar cap hit. Unless he transforms into a hall of famer this fall that contract is a weight around our necks. Sorry if that is ultimately an inconvenient truth to some but that's life. For all this talk of "slander" he has gotten a hell of lot better treatment than some past Panthers that have not lived up to big contracts so you can put alway the violin.

That would be a Derek Carr type of season he was at 517 and 9. But he was in the thick of it in company amongst the best quarterbacks in the league like Josh Allen who had 592 and 10 picks Watson with 544 and 7 and Mahomes at 588 and 6. The MVP had 502 and 5. Even Justin Herbert had 499 and 10 ints. I think Darnold could approach 500 attempts but it will depend heavily on how the line looks early. For this specific reason we invested in another quality rb and a te who can block well. I got love for ya'll but some of you should lay off the edibles. We have a swiss cheese offensive line until proven otherwise in front of a reclamation project at qb and our star rb already got hurt behind our line last year. Can't decide if he is going to be a tackle or a guard. Does not inspire confidence for the time being. I would be less concerned about the lack of consensus or cohesion on the line if we had a veteran quarterback behind there. For all the complaints about Bridgewater as a passer he did at times make last years o line look better than they actually were with some nice scrambles.

Can't be a game changer from the bench. You know who the best rb in football is? That would be Derrick Henry. Why? He has the build to sustain the workload. The last two seasons he has been top 5 in touches and put up 3500 yards and 33 touchdowns and only missed 1 game. And he's only the fifth highest paid back in annual salary.

We were relegated to starting Kyle Allen because we failed to build a line around our previous quarterback for the better part of a decade. I don't think you are lacking intellect or the ability to rationalize but you just cannot see past your own personal attachment on this issue. Rejoicing over individual accolades for positions that are becoming increasingly devalued while divisional rivals pass us by and add to their trophy collection is how we remain in the cellar. The Bucs for example have slowly been building their offensive and defensive lines the last several years while the Panthers have found solace in circle jerks over stat padding in losses. The Panthers are no better off now than they were ten years ago with the offensive line. I can only hope the new brain trust understand this and build accordingly.

Unless someone is cut and falls into our lap or someone in camp emerges this seems like the most likely scenario. Either way TM is going to be swimming in cash.
