  1. In 3 preseason games he had 191 passing yards 3.4 yards per attempt 42.9% completion 1 TD 2 INTs. Possibly a downgrade from even Plummer.
  2. 4 career starts 58.7 completion % 1 touchdown 5 interceptions.
  3. Let's pause a sec and rewind. The hype for Bryce Young before we drafted him was beyond anything I've seen in a long time. If you're trying to tell me now after all the hoopla about his ability to make those around him better and the comparisons to hall of fame players across different sports leagues that him taking the next step this year fully hinges on Adam Thielen then we're probably already doomed. Thielen is not going to keep any defenses up at night. He has good hands and very low YAC. We have 4 young WR's ahead of him with potential that need crucial development and we certainly need to find out what we have in them sooner rather than later because regardless of what transpires this season the QB room should undoubtedly be getting a hard reset. Those reps need to go to the young WR's regardless. Bryce needs to step up and take ownership of the relationship between himself and his young receivers. That's why we drafted him.
  4. Just so we're clear. The discussed compensation for a 35 year old player who won't be here next season was a 4th. We recently took Etienne and Ransom in the 4th and both look promising. Are you suggesting they're scrubs?
  5. Panthers starters average age: 25.59 Texans starters average age: 26.08 Regardless of the Thielen trade or no trade the Panthers coaching staff have got to elevate this roster. It's inexcusable looking at the shape our division is in currently.
  6. Look at a team like the Texans who already have two playoff wins after being one play away from the first overall pick less than 3 years ago. Their oldest backup QB at any point since drafting Stroud is 26 years old. He also has a playoff win. Their wide receivers have never been older than 31 and that was Diontae Johnson last year as nothing more than a depth move after an injury who is anything but a veteran mentor. Beyond that virtually every receiver has been 23-27. They have one guy right now who is 29 the same age as Renfro. They have talent but they do not have head and shoulders that much more talent than the Panthers and they do not rely on aging veterans to a fault. At some point we cannot keep making excuses for our FO and staff.
  7. I think it's a myth you absolutely need vets at those positions just for your young talent to display even marginal levels of competency. It's a cop out for your coaching staff who should be up to the task.
  8. Morgan at this point is just an extension of Tepper. I get the sense the only way they move on from Bryce is if he looks horrific across the bulk of the season and forces their hand. They are dug in on justifying the pick and the trade. They've done everything possible to telegraph that to anyone observing. If they do move on though we should expect a seeking instant results splash type move. That fits the MO so far. That could very well be an FA or a trade. And if we're being honest if all that happened maybe it would be for the best because it would truly drive him how inept this franchise is at developing a young QB across multiple coaching staffs. And the fact is they hired Canales to be a QB whisperer and so far we haven't seen it.
  9. It depends on what version of bad we are getting. Can't have the locker room tearing apart over it.
  10. I thought tanking wasn't actually a thing and we were firmly against it though?
  11. You seem to have a very loose definition of good. Understandable being a Panthers fan. But turning down draft compensation for aging veterans with no future is a move perpetual losing franchises make.
  12. WR market is to infinity and beyond. 3 years $61 million for DJ Moore a few years seems almost insignificant by comparison now.
  13. Agreed. Not to worry. We'll have every other thread to discuss it in
  14. I mean that's his sole reason for being here. He doesn't win football games. He's here to keep Bryce comfortable.
  15. At this point the Tepper's seem to be leading you around by the nose based on how much time you spend carrying water for them so I'm not surprised you're struggling. We are the only team who saw fit to install Andy Dalton with his zero career playoff wins as a culture cornerstone and a key mentor. Even the putrid Saints wanted no parts of that. Truth hurts
  16. The worst case scenario is another losing season with no QB on the roster worth a damn to give the young offensive players any level of meaningful development. This isn't about winning. This was always going to be a losing season. You can rabble about people being butthurt but you know as well as I do the odds that we will be discussing this again are fairly high. And the folks who are being most indignant about people discussing it now will probably go missing like always.
  17. They could have easily kept him as a backup to mentor an upcoming draft pick but they had seen enough. They chased after Carr and probably saved us as supposedly we were hot for him too at one point. Unfortunately we made an even worse panic move. But. That's the Panthers for you.
  18. It's good that there are some people out here with basic sense. Unfortunately this is very likely going to be a frequently revisited conversation on the huddle as the season progresses.
  19. It's crazy the level of value the Panthers place on veterans like Thielen and Dalton. And folks look at our win percentage the last several years and can't figure out what's gone wrong.
  20. I see the rationale from some folks regarding the level of play from terrible QB's like Andy Dalton as being like someone who has been in abusive relationship for so long they make excuses for their abusers and even defend them. Very sad. But it happens.
  21. He is one of the nicest guys. Doesn't make him a good QB. When the New Orleans Saints are more adept at identifying this that is a big problem. And let's be real. If this coaching staff thought anything positive of Andy Dalton they would not have fully exhausted any and every opportunity to get his ass off the field after horrendous perfomances. Thumb sprain last year they milked it for all it was worth. Then this year in preseason it was an elbow strain after he threw a pick and sacked himself. You guys need to face the music sooner or later.
  22. I mean reality says this is simply not true. He is bad. He was bad with the Saints and that's why they rejected him and moved on. You are living in an alternate reality. That's why we cannot come to an agreement.
  23. Dugger would cost $23.5 million in dead money if they cut him. Sounds like a trade is the only option. I'm more concerned about LB at this point.
  24. Doesn't help the guy cheering you on in this is the same one that just goes around pooing posts in anger like an angst filled teenager. Appreciate the convos kungfoodude.
