  1. Of course not but there is a middle ground somewhere between that and immediate anointment before anything has been proven right? It's his first gm gig just like our last two. Who by the way had their own following at one point especially Gettleman who even had his own catchphrases. There are key qualities to like so far such as SF's clear aggressiveness in making moves and not being afraid to move on quickly. His first draft has plenty of potential. I am hopeful we see some positive results for the upcoming season and from there he will raise his profile with the fanbase.
  2. Let's just see what the win/loss is looking like in '21 and '22 before we trot out the clever monikers and weird mancrush.
  3. Feel free to go ahead and start your own Panthers fan community where only cult like unanimous praise is allowed
  4. There is no point in going back to Temple and Baylor to judge this. As of now he is tied to Bridgewater and Darnold and going 0 for 2 isn't an option. The man needs a hit. The fact such a basic discussion triggers some is a reflection of how long mediocrity has settled in with this fanbase.
  5. Fug Drew Brees. I don't want to emulate the Saints I want to kick their ass.
  6. Well at least we are creating some real competition now and trying to improve. That's all I can ask.
  7. I wouldn't. He'll only be 26 by the time he signs his next contract and this is a league driven by passers and receivers. The Bucs have a stacked receiving core and they added another rookie Brady has already taken under his wing. I'm tired of seeing these other motherfugers win rings.
  8. Agreed on the nature of social media which obviously thrives on negativity. But we just see more of it because it has been years since the team has been relevant for winning anything of significance. The Hornets social media pages aren't any better and they haven't been to two championships like the Panthers on top of losing the franchise once already. Valid. But with all sports teams there is a honeymoon period and the one for this regime will officially end with the '21 season. If Darnold is a success the tide will turn and there will be a much needed boost of positivity. If not well things will start heating up like any other sports franchise.
  9. That's what happens when losing becomes the norm and all fans have to talk about is the draft or the potential of next season. Yes some of it is aggravating but you can't blame the fans of the media for the product on the field.
  10. I will say it is refreshing this new regime is not afraid to move on quickly in situations like this. On the flip side though I hope this is a learning experience bc there were red flags from the beginning the Chargers let him walk for a reason.
  11. I mean I hope they are wrong but if they end up being right I'm grabbing my torch and pitchfork Shrek style
  12. Reddick over DJ? He hasn't played a down for Carolina yet. DJ is only 24 years old and wide receiver is a very coveted position in a pass happy league. Way too early for any of this. It hinges more on the development of our rookie receivers this year and is also dependent on one of them stepping into a starting spot when Anderson moves on. This is a dilemma I'd rather not consider rn. Let's hope Darnold is as advertised around here.
  13. Over the last several years I have seen enough third and fourth string receivers with the Panthers to know what one looks like and Robby Anderson is definitely not a Corey Brown or Russell Shepard. Chill
  14. I would have liked the contract to be a little lower but it's only a 2 year deal. And DJ is not going anywhere come on people lol.
  15. Oh stop with the drama. Fans just want a franchise quarterback. Until we get a true answer about Sam this season other qb's will be discussed. This is no different than any other team in any other year. The issue is some folks just can't handle it if every fan isn't a robot mimicking everyone else.
  16. The fact this is a question tells you what you need to know. If this were happening to a division rival no doubt there would be a thread here dedicated to laughing at them relentlessly. There will always be critics and there will always be eternal optimists who think the team will perform better if they support every aspect to the fullest. If the Panthers have a successful season none of this will matter and most of us will be happy.
  17. I hate to hear that for the player but the show must go on. No excuse to lose this home game. There are factors that give us concern about the roster but this pass rush should be able to give Wilson trouble and in turn give the offense plenty to work with.
  18. When even someone like Steve Smith is saying aloud from his position with the franchise that this guy should be playing it goes without saying they are protecting him to the point of arguably going overboard. Some people are taking any criticism of this staff personal no different than the early Rivera or Fox days when it's simply a part of the job
  19. For me redzone concerns are less about the personnel which will be different week 1 anyway and more about the situational playcalling. It left some things to be desired last year and not all of that was on Teddy. Hoping we learned some lessons in that area.
  20. Oh we got a look alright. Gave me vibes of that final drive against the Bucs in 2019 where we couldn't punch it in with CMC.
  21. Youth on an at the time affordable contract was the correct path Hurney just did what he always did and made the worst choice out of the available options.
  22. There should have been a real concerted effort to create competition at camp with a veteran quarterback. This spiel about Sam not having to look over his shoulder is just another excuse. None of these qb's have earned anything at this level yet.
  23. Gano is irrelevant. All the Panthers had to do is keep Butker but they blew it.
  24. The offseason fluff about Slye's physique looks so ridiculous now. All that matters is can he make a kick when it counts. With Sam and the way the team is handling things it's so comical I'm beginning to wonder if we're just being trolled. This talk about preseason not meaning anything is for teams that have actually had recent success. Are the Carolina Panthers a good enough football team rn that it doesn't matter? Back to back 5 win seasons tells you none of this means anything? There are some things to like but there are things that continue to haunt the team until proven otherwise.
  25. Carolina has had redzone issues over the years that spilled into the regular season even with a running threat like Newton. To think this won't translate at all is naive. They can and will get better but our run blocking needs to be fixed first. And ffs stop signing these bums to protect your investment!
