  1. Corral has off the field distractions he's been dealing with. Maybe he would have had a better chance under Canales. Hopefully he gets his life together. Some things are more important than football.
  2. I do not dismiss the validity of your point. But nuance and grace are generally going to be in short supply in most instances involving any kind of sports fandom. Especially if the team in question has been stuck in a cycle of perpetual losing for years. It's been what 8 years since we've even been to the playoffs? The Panthers org made the decision to trade a fortune for one QB. No it isn't Bryce Young's fault as he did not draft himself. But what's done is done and expectations are what they are and that's the same for any team in the NFL. The fanbase has been restless. There are a few who might just want to watch the world burn but most are just wanting to see something to give them hope. In the end we can all do better. There just needs to be a step in the right direction. If anyone is wanting to see less complaints then start praying to the football gods this team and specifically the offense looks competent in New Orleans in a few weeks. That will go a long way in building some good will and letting the bad energy that has plagued this team the last several years begin to subside.
  3. Overpaid in the sense that he is too costly to cut at this moment even at the expense of the development of our young receivers. Your definition of good clearly varies from other people. That's perfectly fine. Though to be clear I don't see anything "weird" about it as you dismissively put it toward others for whatever reason. Let's break it down. Thielen is 34 years old. He was 10th in receptions and 14th in targets last year. Yet he was 48th in YAC and just barely eclipsed 1k yards. We finished with the worst passing offense in the entire league and one of the worst passing offenses of the last 20 years. Idk why you're so intent on going out on a limb for his production like it was anything other than mediocre. If Dave Canales is worth his salt as the coach we hired him to be then his first season with the job should not hinge on Adam Thielen who won't be here next season anyways. P.S. I get the sense the biggest reason you're going to the mat for this guy is bc he was Bryce's favorite target last year. That's cute. Here's a hint. If Bryce is going to develop into a franchise QB he has to do so outside of his comfort zone. Spreading the ball around is the first step.
  4. Let's be honest. Whether Bryce Young does or does not have a bounce back season it won't be because of Adam Thielen. I still can't believe people talk him up bc he got 1k yards in the worst offense in the entire league. You guys want to watch us force him passes again? No thanks. Cut him now or trade him later doesn't matter he has no future here and we should not take snaps away from any of the younger wideouts in need of development just because we overpaid Thielen.
  5. There's an awful lot of QB's looking good in preseason against backups this year. I wouldn't risk money on more than a few of them actually panning out in the regular season if it comes down to it. It just goes to show how easy it can be to score points in the NFL now with all the advantages toward offense. Panthers are only just now joining in as wild as that is. Better late than never I suppose.
  6. I do not no. I'm not pretending to or making claims of such just to be clear. All we have to go on is the official word from Mr. Tepper and we all know how well that is to be trusted. At some point Reich and other former coaches will speak out. Could be years from now who knows. But behind closed doors there were definitely things going on we are still not privy to. Especially in relation to the ultimate decision on who to draft with the first pick. From there we've already long known Tepper is very meddlesome. He was all about getting his face in front of the cameras after we traded up to the first overall pick and following the draft. Talking about point guard we don't need to invest heavily in WR's now yada yada. He was holding weekly meetings with Reich. It was not meant to be regardless. None of this absolves Reich in any way he was poo here there's no denying that. But Tepper unequivocally played his role in the whole fiasco. Just how much we will not know until one of the former coaches speaks out. We'll get the full scoop one day.
  7. When we see it against the Saints on the road in the opener we can really start feeling better about the future. For right now we just have something positive to carry into the next few weeks.
  8. I see. That's a somewhat significant hit. Well if it boils down to one roster spot between the TE/WR/RB units being a tough call and keeping him might mean losing one of them I think you have to just go ahead and rip the bandaid off. Just my .2 cents though.
  9. He's only making 1.3 million this season and is a UFA after this year. Seems like an obvious move to turn the page. No ill will toward him though. In his defense he has been here through three coaching staffs. And multiple front offices. But we've paid him almost 15 million dollars to basically do nothing. He'll be fine.
  10. Well clearly you're ornery about something else again. I'm assuming this is about the other day. Specifically a post that was made you didn't care for because it made vague mention of someone you claim to have no affiliation toward but clearly that isn't the case as everyone has seen some of your off the wall ramblings about what you perceive to be woke and such. You know. It wasn't that long ago we had a back and forth about this when you wanted to inject yourself into a conversation. I reminded you then and I'll again remind again. It was not that long ago that you were going around name calling other members. Specially terms like "tubby" and other cringy grade school level insults. You are the last person to be on a high horse about something like this. If need be we can just avoid each other. I hope you have a nice weekend.
  11. He still hired him. Hired Rhule too. Tepper is still the common denominator. Hopefully he's learning we'll see.
  12. I think you've got your wires crossed here. I was saying you've specifically spoken out against labeling Bryce a bust too early. So you can extend Legette the same courtesy no?
  13. "Young averaged 8.75 yards per pass, a number he reached only once last season, in Week 16 versus Green Bay." "Plummer's 278 yards were the most by a Panthers QB in the preseason since at least 2018." "The Panthers finished with 340 net passing yards, the most in a game since Week 3 of the 2020 season, when it was reached by Teddy Bridgewater." "The offense had 22 first downs, a number that was surpassed only three times in 2023: Week 3 versus Seattle (23), Week 5 versus Detroit (26) and Week 16 versus Green Bay (26)." "The Panthers converted 8-13 on third down, a 62 percent conversion rate. It's the best conversion rate since Week 7 of the 2020 season versus the Saints (67 percent)." Very encouraging all around. Credit to both quarterbacks and the offense as a whole. Hopefully a sign of good things to come from the Canales effect. No matter what happens this season as long as we are displaying an increase in offensive output and competency people will be satisfied with something to build on.
  14. I think at some point in the season Reich basically fired himself. There was not any influence needed. One day we will get a full story of how everything went down. Just expect to hear some things that will surprise you.
  15. Read back through the thread. 99% of my posts were about the game. While I can appreciate the fact you do make a valid point. Said point is moot when you only quote me but none of the individuals in question mentioned in the post. Appreciate the input.
  16. How about let's just get the season opener under our belts and go from there. One step at a time.
  17. Almost sounds like some people are "rooting for him to fail"
  18. The front office and staff have gone out of their way to point out how much they were both on the same page throughout the draft process. They wanted Legette they got him. His injury early in camp clearly spooked them and they limited his reps. He's been mostly relegated to working with the second unit. Now he looks like he's behind the curve entirely when he shouldn't. Mismanagement. Only thing to do now is rectify that. Get him out there with the other starters in the regular season and let him go to work. It's sink or swim like any other WR before him that we've drafted.
  19. Already? Your position on labeling Young a bust early has been thoroughly clear. But XL is a bust before one regular season snap?
  20. Given Thielen's age and comical lack of YAC last year I find myself apprehensive at the notion of possibly losing a young up and coming WR just to keep Adam on for the season. Yes it's good to have his veteran presence. But it would be a shame to see one of these young WR's end up shining elsewhere while we move on from Thielen after this season anyways.
  21. Whatever happens this season I can say I am very pleased with the attention we are finally giving to the TE position. It's been too damn long since we've had high level play from the position group. Now let's just get Ian Thomas out of here and move forward renewed.
  22. This yarn about rooting for failure is just as tiresome as the criticism. As is the people who only enter the thread to talk about how everyone is rooting against so and so but never name names. Cam got some of the worst treatment from his own fanbase that I've ever seen. And he was rookie of the year out of the gate lol. I don't know why some people expected to come here and find rainbows and unicorns after the worst season in franchise history. The only thing that is going to help is winning football games. Until then people who constantly chime in just to gripe about others and create an "us vs them" atmosphere are not helping anything either and need to give up the moral high ground because it's a facade.
  23. 31 pages 31 points. Preseason or not I'll gladly take it.
