We haven't defeated the Saints at home since 2016 but the most popular thread is about the Giants kicker. Geesh.

Graham Gano has now made 34 straight field goals
frankw replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
This sums it up and in truth it sounds very familiar. Several former Panthers have went on to look better after a change of scenery. I think our luck will change soon but first we have to negate the necessity for these miracle kicks and get into the endzone. The Giants are worse than us at that how else would Gano get all those kicking attempts? They were 31st in the nfl in redzone % last year while we were 28th. -

The Panthers should have had competition for Slye this year from the get go that's on coach Rhule for sitting on his hands. Miss is a miss and a loss is a loss. 7 winning seasons in 25 years. Keep making excuses though see how far it gets you -

I think you are confused but when have we been in position to sign a really good one? They have to be available. Whenever I hear Gano's name I picture that kick going wide against the Broncos after our qb took the beating of his life guiding us to the game winning kick. The Panthers need a kicker but more than that they need to score touchdowns I'm sorry if I'm not all teary eyed over an aging kicker I want to compete with the best and we aren't doing that settling for field goals anyway. -

There's some odd folks out there. The only time I see this guy post is about Gano. Is Graham your brother in law or something? -
That is the Panthers luck to sign a guy to a big new contract and week one he ends up with what could be a nagging injury. Sam might want to get some extra cardio in this week.

The next five weeks are the Saints Texans Cowboys Eagles and Vikings. Each team averaged 24-38 points in week one while we failed to put up 20. It's a safe bet to say McCaffrey's usage isn't likely going down through that stretch. We'll see about the second half of the schedule.
-
We can talk about this until our heads spin but it doesn't matter. Looking at our depth and the upcoming schedule Rhule's hand will be forced eventually. Brown will start.
-
Let's just drop it and agree to revisit this next month. The next five games will tell us everything we need to know about this offense both good and bad.
-
Seriously this is bizarre. I have never seen an nfl fan this passionate over an offensive lineman who is maybe a stopgap at best.
-
Are you related to Elflein?
-
You're still going with this? Get some air.

That's fair. Moton is truly the diamond in the rough and even he is going to have some moments saddled with that around him. It's only week one but looking ahead at some upcoming opponents the Texans Cowboys Eagles and even the Vikings who lost a close one to the Bengals doesn't look to be the stretch we perceived it to be in preseason. The agonizing over the oline is just getting started.

Thoughts on Elflein, our O-line, the jets and the aints.

Of course the miscues in the rz should not have happened but we were not great on third downs either and that is why we struggled to sustain drives despite a career day from McCaffrey. That has to get better and that is more of the same carryover from the previous regime. We also won't be able to punt from the opposing teams 33 yard line going against potent offenses either. We need to figure out who with and how we are going to better sustain drives. We can admit it has been painful to watch this team in short yardage situations as of late but we can't rely on hero ball from CMC at all times. -
Hate is a strong word. Panthers fans know what that looks like there aren't any mom's from Tennessee sending in angry letters about Pat Elflein. People want to compete and win. From Bridgewater to this guy what is it with folks and this affinity for cozying up to mediocre? You all know the goal is to compete in the division and eventually a super bowl right? Another Mike Remmers for people to make excuses for isn't what we need.

Why compare and contrast bottom ranked olines? The Jets still shut us out of their end zone for a whole half and made a game of it at the end. If a rookie who got walloped for 6 sacks can do that what will the better quarterbacks we face on our upcoming schedule do? -
He's been hobbled his whole career why would this year be any different?
-
Weren't you the guy who lost your marbles over Luke Kuechly in Bills attire? Just move along.

25 per game was good enough for most in the nfl in 2019. Unless the Panthers are blowing a team out or he gets banged up that minimum seems likely to remain. The difference of 5 will depend heavily on our ability to close out games which has been an issue and we nursed a 5 point lead against the worst team in the league as it was this past weekend.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/touches_year_by_year.htm His on pace average is right there if you look up the numbers yourself. He averaged 25 touches per game the last two seasons it stands to reason he will continue to see that minimum moving forward for the time being so yes he could and likely will see between 25 and 30 several more times minimum this season.

We knew about his size and the variables that come with that when we drafted him though. This team is all about analytics but their just now figuring out he might have issues with conditioning? Wild.
-
Support is good but shouting down any and all criticism when the losses are piling up and the team jettisons him bc he can't handle said criticism and throws teammates and the staff under the bus is a different matter.
-
Have the goal posts moved to we drafted Brady Christensen to be a guard all along? Panthers fans are always good for a laugh. The team even put out an inside look video of people in the draft room rejoicing when we took him considering left tackle was our biggest need outside of corner.

The biggest Teddy Bridgewater defender of 2020 calling others sheep. fuging classic.

The key will be getting the Saints offense off the field on third downs and sustaining drives ourselves. They are 8th in third down efficiency while we are 25th.
