No mention of the first play of the game huh? Also no mention of the fact our special teams scored as many points as his offense through 3 full quarters? Hey great final drive but maybe try doing more than throwing picks and fumbling the ball for most of the game next time. We play like trash at home. If we are going to feel bad for anyone it should be the fans who sat through that game.

The CMC deal is certainly a classic Hurney contract but I have zero doubt he was just doing what he was told by Tepper. They still needed a fan draw and a face for the team. But man looking back at all that now what a disaster in the making. We moved on from one oft injured franchise player who actually produced wins when healthy while all but dancing on his demise and then replaced him with a new one at an increasingly expendable position who is now just as oft injured if not more. The Panthers just can't quit being the Panthers. The rest is just the cherry on top we laid out the red carpet for Sam frigging Darnold and didn't give him even a hint of adversity or a competent backup and we wonder why he continues to play like poo.

This is not a storied franchise. If you want to be a glass half full type that's admirable but this team has had 7 winning seasons in 25 years and no back to back winning seasons. People know what a bad year looks like by now you can't blame them.

The final drive impressed me but the lack of consistency overall is simply maddening. I'm just tired of the excuses. We had three full quarters to do more. Sometimes this offense looks like a group of guys who have never played together before. The drops were troubling. Idk if Robby will be around if he can't play better than that. But Sam has got to start getting the deep ball going even when he has time he's sailing passes over receivers heads or out of bounds and that has been a consistent issue. When was the last good deep ball we connected on? Defenses watch film and they know about these things. From what I saw today our QB is mostly the same guy he was in New York. Boom or bust from drive to drive and occasionally he will wow you like at the end of the game. Is that enough? I don't know. Could he be more? I don't like the odds. But he and these receivers need to spend a ton of time together this week bc if they still can't get on the same page I have to wonder if there is a deeper problem going on in the locker room.

Agreed about the scheme and playcalling. But the quarterback still has to make good decisions with the football and we need leadership on this offense this is a very young team.

Nobody wants to talk about it. I don't think it's going to get through. At this point it looks like some people are just accustomed to accepting mediocrity. Actually expecting a real nfl offense led by a 3rd overall pick to muster more than 2 turnovers and 7 points through 3 quarters is apparently unreasonable.
-
Not directed at you but just a general observation I've noticed with Panthers fans but the word program in reference to our team really grinds my gears. Enough with the college crap and stupid practice signs. Let's elevate to an actual NFL TEAM again.
-
Right and since it's a team game we aren't even in it to tie to go to overtime without that 7 points from our special teams. Just how often do you see blocked punts for scores? The drops were inexcusable but the win was there for our offense just like last week and those two turnovers were a key part of the loss like it or not that's all I'm saying.

Everything and everyone else before the leader of the offense who turned the ball over from the word go and put up 7 points through 3 quarters? That's not how it works.

Sam is Jekyll/Hyde. Some think the light will finally stay on but through the last three games we've seen the exact same Sam Darnold the Jets did for three years. It is madness to expect a miracle. The only rationale would be his age but that is meaningless if it just isn't there upstairs.

PJ isn't and shouldn't be the answer. Rhule should have been less concerned about Sam's feelings and more concerned about what's best for the team by acquiring a real backup should things go south. Instead he settled for one of his Temple favorites. Yet some fans here are giving out participation trophies for making a game of it at the end despite doing fug all for three quarters and being gifted 7 points from special teams.

First play of the game interception. That's the opposite of great or even alright.
-
That's it. Tepper, Sign Cam or Trade for Watson.
frankw replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
The next time he's in BOA stadium will be for his retirement ceremony. Cam had a good run and I'll always be thankful for those memories but that's all that remains. -
Sam's receivers were very disappointing today but he didn't help matters at all himself either. The fanboys here are becoming insufferable.
-
Already covered that in the gameday thread unacceptable given the resources we have put into that side of the ball even including an entire draft last year and back to back first round picks. Still doesn't change the fact the offense could have and should have played better in the first three quarters.
-
7 offensive points in 3 quarters. Without the blocked punt for a touchdown we aren't even in this game. I have no response for anyone who walks away from this loss thinking Darnold and these receivers don't need to put in a ton of work. That begins with Sam Darnold stepping up and being the leader of this offense. We have gone out of our damn way to make him comfy we don't even have a viable backup. If the receivers are struggling rally your offense and stop throwing picks or putting the ball on the ground.
-
This thread is the "just happy to be here" Panthers mentality summed up. There is just no excuse for the offense and our qb on a professional football team to play the way they did for 3 full quarters.
-
First play of the game interception set the tone. Need team leaders to play better.
-
If Sam and the offense had played like that for the first three quarters we win running away so as disappointed as I am in the defense nobody from the offense doesn't get a pass for the end. Our offense was spotted a touchdown by the special teams and still needed overtime for a chance to win. They need to play much better and that begins with the leader of this offense Sam Darnold sorry truth is truth we lost.
-
An entire draft to the defense and they look like this in OT. Offense wins you games it's a different league now.
-
This game...
-
Wow well we're just letting them have what they want. With all the investments in the defense this is inexcusable.
-
Oh Brian why....
-
Sam may be redeeming himself with the rest of that drive. Why can't they play like this the first three quarters?
-
Finally the best throw of the day only took almost four quarters.
