His processing and decision making is what it is and has always been. He is a fourth year starter. Now is the time for progress not going in the other direction full speed. He got pulled out of the game for PJ Walker and he was outclassed by Daniel Jones who is also not on a good football team. The odds of this working out were not good from the beginning but now it is sheer desperation to still be hoping he will turn into a franchise qb.

I don't think he is or necessarily should go anywhere just yet unless the team gives up the rest of the season. But the mess we sit in is all of his own creation. There are also things about Rhule that really do not help him in the sense of building for something bigger in the future. One of the first things he did here was get into a public spat with the only former mvp in franchise history and then sent him packing so he could get his own guy in here. Well he's gotten the guy he's wanted twice now and both have resulted in catastrophe. I think most fans can take the losing if we are competitive and our qb is decent enough. But this skid and only mustering 3 points against one of the worst teams in the league with all the investments we have made in the roster is not part of a rebuild that's just ugly and historically bad football. Even if we want to place some blame on Joe Brady for being in over his head how much can we really blame him? He didn't hire himself. Rhule is going to have to realize he needs some nfl experience on this staff if he wants to make it for the long haul.

I get why some didn't want Watson, but it's not a happy time.

Rhule already knew what PJ was though and he made no effort to look at another option because he didn't want to hurt Sam's feelings. That's the part that stings. We handcuffed ourselves for a QB who had yet to actually earn or prove anything in the NFL. -
How many INTs will Sam throw against Atlanta?

How dare you not include Sam's five rushing touchdowns! -
The Giants game last Sunday pretty clearly indicates we still are and that's thanks in large part to the current decision makers
-
It doesn't have to be perfect but at least the Hornets are competitive and can win with different players. I like this group. We'll be even better when Terry returns.
-
He had time to throw here and options.

Nobody cares. You're the only one over the age of 60 going on poop reaction sprees because you're all in your feelings over someone else's opinion.

You can talk about footwork you can talk about routes you can talk about scheme or playcalling or how bad the offensive line is but if the decision making is bad nothing else matters. That's been his main issue going back to USC. People are still so desperate for this reclamation project to work out they're grasping for any solutions but what you see is what you get and what we've seen is the same Sam Darnold throwing the same horrific passes into triple and quadruple coverage with time in the pocket. It isn't going to change.

Rapaport: Panthers/ Tepper out of Watson deal

And gave him a kick in the ass on the way out the door for good measure. -
If you can come around maybe there is hope for others. I know @SBBlue is lurking. Might as well come get that crow you were so ready to serve it up to others just a few weeks ago. We're all stuck with this mess of mediocrity now

Welp back to our regularly scheduled programming. -
If building a winning culture was the goal we've gone about it comically wrong. Six draft picks for Sam Darnold and three cornerbacks isn't doing anything to help that while our oline falls apart and we get blown out of the stadium by the Giants. It wasn't going to get significantly better in just one season yes but it should not have gone the other way. We are worse off than we were last year. That's mismanagement.
-
Everybody knows it's a qb driven league. I don't think they've given up but honestly the locker room can't be in a good place right now. If fans and random people on social media see the awful throws Sam is making into quadruple coverage and how he ends one game with a pick and starts the next with a pick I mean how does that not become a factor in morale when you know despite your best efforts one guy will poo the bed? But Rhule and Fit made this mess it's up to them to deal with the fallout

Even Jets fans finally got wise. Panthers fans love them some awful quarterbacks. Kyle Allen or Sam Darnold would have lifetime contracts if some of these delusional fans had their way.

Some Panthers fans basically celebrated the demise of Newton's career here. Tried to tell them what awaits... 433f6d84-eff8-477d-a8a6-6f5653c71360.mp4

Looks like we need a real NFL caliber offensive coordinator. But that will only help so much with the issues we are seeing now the team looks unmotivated and they couldn't even be bothered to put up a fight against a bad 1 win Giants team. I know we have no real option in the short term but it seems clear rn the team is and has lost confidence in the starting qb and it is only going to get worse as the season goes on.
-
The backstory is pretty cut and dry. He's just a bitter old fool who doesn't like new school quarterbacks who challenge norms.
-
Still have to identify the right qb moving forward while navigating the 18 million we guaranteed to Darnold next year. You are correct there is no quick fix but if we have an opportunity to draft a replacement and move on from McCaffrey we will have to reluctantly consider this. Those cap hits the next couple of years only get worse and you can't ignore trends both him and Saquon have been banged up a lot and the Giants didn't even need him or their top three receivers to make quick work of us. As others have said it isnt the 80's anymore you need someone other than an rb to be your leader.
-
With what picks though? But even if this is the case if we draft another back we need to get out from under McCaffrey's contract and actually build an oline.
