  1. If you're the gm and you don't trust him enough to pickup the option then you made a bad trade. You don't give up three picks for a player you don't have confidence in. The issue with the trade is it really wasn't very high reward bc we had three seasons of NFL game tape showing Sam to be the player he was here and back in college. All that talk about him basically being a rookie went out the window quick. It never should have happened we had other options.
  2. Phenomenal effort from this group tonight hats off to them.
  3. Sam Darnold says hello. The NY Jets say thank you very much.
  4. So far so good Kelly making it rain. All depends on the bench though.
  5. Yeah that was a stupid contract. Hurney threw way above market value at him to get him to agree. Nobody else was offering that much. We paid him 30 million for a season of work. Pretty damn good money. Moving him wasn't the bad decision going all in on Darnold with no fallback was.
  6. Why are some people so focused on his haircut? Weird.
  7. Damn Matt and his pals are even giving Ron a run for his money.
  8. Reminds me of Ron Rivera canning coordinators early on with us. There may still be hope for Rhule but this team needs to perform significantly better in this final stretch. Even then I'll still be wondering. Seen all this before.
  9. Yep but all our draft picks and not being handcuffed to an almost 20 million dollar salary to the worst qb in the nfl would be nice.
  10. The number of targets would be a helpful context here. Zylstra has 14 on the season Tremble has 22. CMC is obviously a very good receiving target and we know about Robby's struggles. DJ has 112 targets on the season and considering his own drops and what he has had to deal with at qb and at oline this isn't surprising. I would be curious to see last years numbers without Darnold.
  11. Yeah this is true but I would much rather roll the dice on someone Iike Tomlin after what we've seen from this college staff experiment. If he is available throw everything we've got at him.
  12. Yep. How quickly and badly things soured with that relationship was a big factor in how deadset we were on finding the next starter ASAP. Everyone was waiting to tell the Panthers how wrong they were for that move. Well. Here we are. I've tried to move past all that and I can but what sticks out is the draft picks we've given up. I have to say I've seen a little Dave Gettleman in our front office. Some of this mess was ego driven but their egos got checked real quick. Unfortunately it is us the fans who are left picking up the pieces.
  13. There are no guarantees with that though. So far the trades have hurt more than they have helped by far. We fooled ourselves into believing a more active gm is a better gm bc of Hurney but we are finding out the hard way ineptitude comes in many forms.
  14. The Eagles Giants and Jets all have a slew of picks to retool their roster with next year while Carolina has backed themselves into a corner in the span of just a year trying to win now while still left looking for a QB. What a mess.
  15. You would see less groaning about what if scenarios with that pick if mgmt hadn't tripled down at CB while the oline was left to rot. Now we have very limited draft resources next year to top it off. Not difficult to see why this will remain a source of contentious debate.
  16. It should have been common sense to have some actual NFL experience on this coaching staff. We know you enjoy being the resident contrarian here but surely even you should be able to agree on this.
  17. I love laughing at the Saints but he somehow still had a higher passer rating than both our qb's last Sunday
  18. Turns out maybe it wasn't such a hot idea to give full control to a college coach with only one season of low level NFL coaching experience.
  19. Darnold will get another look at some point but their circumstances are quite different. We have three and a half seasons of game tape of Darnold looking like the qb he has since college. Is there a slim chance he could turn it around and become a franchise qb? I suppose. But the odds are about the same that one of us will hit the Powerball this week. But even if we can overlook his deficiencies as a signal caller I have serious doubts about his ability to inspire confidence in his teammates as the defacto leader of that group. Everyone has some bad games here and there you can't win them all but his final start is about as dejected a Panthers offensive group as I've ever seen. He isn't a bad teammate but he seems averse to natural leadership and the little interaction we saw with Robby A after throwing an ugly picksix is indicative of that.
