That actually looks sharp. What are the Panthers doing? There's no way they are sitting on their hands with this opportunity in front of them. Surely...

I don't think he liked last years class in general. More of a statement on the way people play favorites instead of just focusing on the talent and merits of a prospect. I'll just be glad when we finally have our guy and don't have to listen to everyone bloviate about their expertise in quarterback evaluation.

This place hated Justin Herbert with a passion. But hey it's a crazy concept to just wait and see how these prospects perform and meet expectations in their upcoming season.

Baker Mayfield and Scott Fitterer presser today at noon.

Carolina Panthers announce Sam Darnold and Robbie Anderson will be embarking on experimental flight to the far reaches of space. -
Post after post after post after post not wanting a QB in the '21 draft and another couple hundred more angry about Baker but it's never too early to declare a boner for the Bama QB
-
You were deadset against drafting a QB and declared Malik Willis the next Ryan Leaf. Yet you're a dedicated fiend for the Coastal Carolina product. This is why we can't have honest talks about the QB position in the draft anymore.

Just like this year and the year before the hype will slowly fizzle and we will return to the same hand wringing over the flaws of the top quarterbacks.
-
Well yeah he wouldn't have covered a good chunk of his salary if he didn't have a lot to prove. If there were a risk to take at a low cost this is how the Panthers should have done it last year instead of rushing for Darnold when no one else wanted him. Nothing to be upset about at this moment let's see what camp looks like.

Again, Smitty is cautiously optimistic about Mayfield

True but it would be disingenous not to note the fact that Sam Darnold has been a turnover prone disaster from the get go. And absolutely no one at any point in time before the trade was being discussed was like yeah that guy Sam Darnold could be the answer to our prayers. -
Some of it is reasonable some isn't. The crap about how he talks or his hairstyle is not difficult to see through that's some of the same stuff we read with Newton. But Robbie's contract size and his repetition of being in the news cycle every time you look up is going to become a worn out act in any city with any fanbase. When you add in his tough time statistically last season it's reminiscent of the days like 2010 where we paid guys just for the sake of it and developed a culture of what can only be described as mediocrity. If he wants to change things the first step is to show fans what was missing last year and that begins on the field not on social media.

People who are afraid to cut him are just tightwads. It isn't your money. If you're mad about the thought of him earning all that for doing nothing well go have a chat with Matt Rhule and Scott Fitterer. They sealed this outcome many months ago. Either way he isn't going to do anything near enough to justify what we paid him. Just get him out of here and end this distracting nonsense.

It's important to temper expectations regardless of personal feelings about Baker or Corral. If neither show the promise we hope for it's back to the draft. Hopefully this whole thing does not become a circus that's bad for the locker room.

Obviously this is the NY Jets fault for starting Sam Darnold too early. It's not like he turned the ball over so many times at USC as well or anything.
-
You're kidding right? There will be run block holes big enough to fit a tractor trailer through.
-
Stands to reason they would love for their 2nd round pick to take the next step sooner rather than later. It sure would have been nice to activate him more to see what he might have been able to offer last season.

Every team that does not have a clear proven franchise QB can say the same the QB position runs the NFL. But we are the ones dealing with their former headaches and we've tied up draft picks and salary cap for our troubles.

The only narrative that matters is the Jets removed Darnold and Anderson from the picture and they are in better shape and even finished their season strong nearly defeating the Bucs. While the Panthers are coming off a last place divisional finish and are a bottom three team in the league. It's sad that people are even going to bat for this f*ckery.
