Simms is right on the money re the competition
frankw replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
This whining about not "handing" a QB the job cracks me up. We had open discussions about whether Darnold was being coddled last summer after he was handed the job and many people said such assertions were nonsense. Now look at us. -
He's here he's better than Darnold and yes that isn't really saying much but if he doesn't work out it's back to the draft probably. No sense rehashing these complaints not for how much he is making compared to Sam.

If DJ really has a problem with fans who spend their downtime chugging beer and peering over stats judging his game he can elevate it and haul in a contested ball in the air more often. He's paid well.
-
So we were both wrong and you're still caping for Tepper just because.

It isn't my concern to go around and monitor and police every Panthers fan with a YouTube channel or a podcast there are dozens of them. But if you however want to make it your mission to take a dive in front of any instance criticism is directed toward the team decision makers do your thing.

Pretty sure that was some random guy. Some of ya'll really will go to any lengths to shield Panthers mgmt. Weird.
-
They really have a bunch of Paul Blarts going around shaking down their own fans like they're a burden. Just absolutely embarrassing.

With Haynes on ice, we need to prioritize an Edge
frankw replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Should have already been prioritizing it. You're only as good as your depth and we already let a productive pass rusher walk. Instead we have sat on our hands. Probably stuck with what we've got minus a possible addition or two after cuts. -
This is what we need. Thank you for everything Sam.

Fug him.

More of Sam's relatives

He hit the same injury wall as other running backs before him. The league has shown why you do not sign backs to huge second contracts. This team has already learned from that mistake. Not only did we repeat it we did so with no quarterback in place. And if you need further evidence why you do not pay running backs all that money on a second contract take a gander at the top 5 on spotrac and tell me how many playoff wins those teams have the last few years outside of Derrick Henry who finally hit the injury wall too. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/running-back/

Three consecutive 5 win seasons and a head coach that is 3-9 in his division. The huddle and the overall fanbase is only a reflection of the team. We hope the Panthers will be better but for many people that's not enough until we live some real results that are attached to wins. If the Panthers had been a scrappy team that had actually been building the right way the last 3 years you might see less hostility and more positivity. But instead we backed up a cash truck to an oft injured RB and acquired two of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league two years in a row. Welcome to Carolina.

Getting a little angry now are we? It's okay you'll settle in with Sam's new CFL team fans just give it some time.

If you only want training camp updates use the official website don't visit fan message boards expecting no banter and all tweets. https://www.panthers.com/news/live-updates-training-camp-practice-on-friday-august-5

He's out of the league because his arm isn't physically the same due to injury not because he was a lazy ass. I mean if you got this venom for him where's the same energy for a guy like Sam Darnold who is the same age Cam was in the prime of his career yet he says competition at the position hasn't changed the way he prepares? Just be glad we have glimmer of hope instead of the slop we were stuck with the last two years.
-
I think we can be honest about where Matt Corral is at in his development at this stage and support him and his work ethic without digging up this false notion about Cam not working on his craft. Come on.
-
I don't share your delusions about McCaffrey so obviously I just recently hopped on the bandwagon lol. When was the last time we had a winning season? It's a QB driven league. You can have your wet dreams about CMC the rest of us just want a winning football team
-
So your rebuttal is to throw DeAngelo Williams name in my face? The other running back our team overpaid huge for only to end up regretting that contract later on? I guess we're done here.
-
If you're going back 20+ years to find your examples you're making my point for me. I called Henry old school because he has quite literally kept the Titans relevant carrying his team with the likes of average QB's like Ryan Tannehill. The days of Faulk and Tomlinson are getting further and further away. If you're waiting on Christian McCaffrey to dominate like that for the next couple of seasons without any injuries keep hope alive but being delusional is only going to make reality hurt more when it slaps you in the face.

Um actually it's usually the beginning of the downhill slide at this point for many past backs. Todd Gurley was washing out of the league at 26. Of the current backs Derrick Henry had been one of the few in the old school mold who could start week in and week out and continually put up big numbers and not get banged up really bad. But at 28 he's now been dealing with the injury wall. We can hope McCaffrey stays healthy and plays a full season. But to argue we were better off with him being out hurt while accounting for a significant portion of our salary cap and hindering our ability to build an oline is taking positivty to the extreme. When we signed him to that deal we didn't even have a starting QB in place. That's just not how you build a contending football team.
