The trade is and was horrendously stupid no matter the justification they attempt to appease the fanbase with. But that does not mean Williams was a bad pick or does not have potential. He should be good for us. If you can't enjoy some basketball without bias over your favorite college team getting in the way sports are officially not healthy for you.

Joe spoke as enthusiastically about Bridgewater as Rhule did. He had built in familiarity with the Saints offense. Tepper might have pushed for Brady but Joe had plenty to do with Teddy signing here. It's still on Rhule though. He had to put his stamp on the offense after moving on from Cam so quickly. Instead of being patient and drafting his own guy he was stubborn and impatient yet at the same time we were still being fed a story about a rebuild. Just a mess.

Insight into the broken relationship between the Browns and Mayfield
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really don't give a poo about the Browns. Either he will play at a high level here or he won't. But when you put aside all this bickering he said she said he has actually seen success as a starter. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and if it doesn't work we'll be talking draft again. -
Sam Darnold isn't going to magically "get it". He has been the same catastrophe prone quarterback since USC. Please accept what is in front of you for the sake of what is left of your sanity. As for Baker. If he doesn't work out it's Corral and another draft pick if that doesn't yield the results we seek. But there is no scenario where Darnold is a franchise quarterback. This really isn't as complicated as you are making it.
-
You've repeatedly argued that Sam Darnold is actually a good QB with data showing he is the worst starter over the last several years. Look in the mirror before throwing around statements like this guy.
-
By this time next year he'll be gone and you are welcome to follow him.
-
So you're here why then?
-
People don't want to hear it but he's probably back next season unless the whole team revolts.
-
I would have been okay with that too but it's probably best we don't throw him to the wolves just yet. I'm hoping he has a great camp though.
-
Weren't you one of the people saying we should force Rhule to start Sam and let him get us a top 5 pick? At one point that was a fairly common take amongst those who didnāt want a QB in the draft. Most with common sense poured cold water on that though.
-
Mr completely just has to accept that this is who we are for now. He griped for weeks and weeks about this years QB class now he's posted up here all day griping about Mayfield. We are not tanking we never were in fact this is the very thing people tried to tell him but he didn't want to hear it. We were always going to try to compete. You can let this ruin your whole summer and fall or you can roll with it.

This.

Right now it's basically two or three posters that have been rage posting since yesterday. I understand the sentiment but it's an exercise in futility. I just hope this will be entertaining.

If you're going to initiate a new thread about this and crap on the guy the least you could do is offer what your alternative plan for the position would have been. So who did you want?

So what happens with Darnold if Baker is the starter
frankw replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trade or release. Either way goodbye. -
If Robbie Anderson is actually upset about not having to play with the worst starting quarterback in years anymore I don't think anyone with the Panthers will be of help to him.
-
Baker already leading the team and the trade was just madeā¦..
frankw replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm skeptical on Baker as a leader but at the same time Sam Darnold has as much team leadership ability as a tackling dummy. -
You just described the Panthers front office the last two years. Kick back and enjoy the ride or hop off and save your sanity if you're in this much of a tizzy over the move.
-
But muh QB competition. Baker was so concerned about beating out Sam in training camp he gave up part of his salary
-
The 5th year option was a sunk cost the moment we picked it up. Cutting him now or letting him walk later it's gone regardless. Yes. Mayfield for all his flaws has been a successful starter at one point but Sam has been the same going back to USC. If push comes to shove you just cut your losses and be done with it.
-
Pack his bags and send him on his way. The guaranteed money he is getting is more than enough to ease his mind about the situation.

That's all he's got. Cam lives in his head.
