We saw what a Kirk Cousins type of QB ultimately amounts to in the playoffs when they lost to the Giants. The man threw a pass behind the line of scrimmage. No way we need to hitch our wagon to a quarterback whose ceiling is that for 100+ million. Draft and develop our own for a change.

I want Stroud too but it would cost a serious haul to move up to get him. If the kid isn't basically walking on water in his rookie season this place will be roasting him 24/7. But I'm warming to the possibility of keeping our extra picks taking Anthony Richardson at 9 and stacking more offensive talent. Added bonus is Brooklyn Bully will blow his stack.

Hey guy. We're still on the same topic. I provided you information that you refuse to address because you know it destroys your narrative. Multiple things can be true. Carr is a retread. He's an upgrade over Darnold. Even Teddy Bridgewater is an upgrade over that. The issue is where folks like yourself are now chasing after and propping up anyone that fits that criteria. If he took an affordable deal that would be one thing. But 35 million a year? Big no thanks. BTW cheers to the most triggered Carr superfan on the huddle

Holding our general manager to his words is a "dumb agenda"? Yeah I'm happy about our coaching staff too. I'll be thrilled if and when we draft our QB in the first and develop him. But I can also acknowledge mistakes and not just blame it all on Matt Rhule. You can't handle that because you are smitten with Scott like you've got a personal bromance going with the guy. That isn't consistent with the standard you employed for Marty Hurney and anyone who has read enough of your 130 thousand posts knows this. But you do you and enjoy your weekend 🫶

LaMelo Ball had himself a night though..🫡

I see we're still entertaining the notion Fitterer had nothing to do with signing Ian Thomas to that absurd contract extension. https://www.instagram.com/p/CanKB0qpxga/?utm_medium=twitter

@Xtreme My guy. He played in 15 games and had a 60.8 completion % with Davante Adams compared to Darnold the bust who had 58.6% through 6 games. And he's several years older than Sam. This is who you want to pay 35 million dollars a year?

I thought it could have been a typo but figured it was still worth putting the info out there to back up the rebuttal to this desperate thread. Hey I want to be a contender again too but some fans here on the huddle are developing a condition where they perceive any QB who might give them the time of day to be the next sure thing. Did the same thing with Darnold the same thing with Mayfield and now again with a much older and only slightly more consistent QB coming off one of his worst statistical seasons with one of the best receivers in the league. What could go wrong

Let me ask you this straight up. What path do you think we have better odds of resulting in another Super Bowl appearance with? Chasing other teams discarded quarterbacks or drafting our own? Let's take a look at the last 10-15 years of Super Bowl teams. https://www.insider.com/how-super-bowl-teams-acquired-their-quarterback-2022-2 You've got 3 key free agents who helped their new team win one. Brees who went from SD to NO. Manning who went from Indy to Denver. And Brady who went from NE to Tampa Bay. All three are basically instant hall of famers and one is the undisputed goat albeit a total douchecanoe. Beyond that you've got a couple trades that are very rare like the Stafford to Rams deal. What's the trend with the rest? Drafted!
-
Not really. Stafford has averaged minimum 64% to 68% completion for 8 seasons in a row along with 9 seasons of 4000 or more passing yards. If Carr had that level of consistency he would already be signed to one of the largest QB deals in league history. Folks on the huddle are desperate to build up Carr as a sure thing. Sorry. He isn't.

NFL.com ranks Carolina 2022 draft class as worst in NFC South
frankw replied to rebelrouser's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm eager to see how Fitterer does with the keys unequivocally in his hand. But man some people here are fuging blind homers. When Hurney was here derping it up his picks were assessed by most here after one season. It's funny how standards change because some people have an affinity for Scott. -
Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson
frankw replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ofc I would accept it and support but that doesn't mean I have to be blind to the possible cons. I think the % odds of Carr being who we hope is at best even with what we would get drafting a quarterback. When you add in the fact we would have to pay him 35 million a year that's a BIG miss if it doesn't work in our favor. At least with a draft pick if you miss you aren't sinking your salary cap too. -
By definition he's a retread. His team decided to move on just like the Jets and Browns decided to move on from Darnold and Mayfield whom we rolled the dice on. He would be retread #3 for us. Just because you don't like the term doesn't make it untrue.
-
I don't even like Stafford and I think any comparison between the two is laughable. Carr is more comparable to Cutler. You pro Carr guys are just high on hopium.

Carr is boom or bust like Cutler and he's 32 years old. You don't tie up 30+ million a year in that kind of a risk after you've already traded for Darnold and Mayfield. Be realistic people. The draft is the only path forward. -

Well I'd be fine with us drafting him just to see you meltdown. -

Between Bully and that guy who was hyper focused on the way Richardson speaks you can tell ten plus years hasn't made a huge difference with some people. -

Why are you so invested in it? Are you a fan of one of his rival college teams? -
Obviously he isn't unwilling to spend as evidenced by the contract given to his first head coaching hire. But now he's doing it the right way and spending on actual NFL level coaches. The elephant in the room has been the approach to the quarterback position. Get that right and criticism will be very minimal.

It's a big gamble but if the staff think they can develop him I would accept it. That being said. Yeah McShay is the kiss of death here. -
PFF - What would it take for Panthers to trade up for #1 pick
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If this staff were sold on him and we took Levis at 9 I could live with it and hope for the best. But if we trade up for anyone it should be Stroud. -
Yeah it's almost like a talented DE is 1B to 1A of the most important positions in the NFL. But muh 2nd round pick this year!
-
top dawg don't let the huddle Hank Hill get under your skin.

Idk about Reich but this is just about it for Fitterer regardless. He needs to hit on a QB. This is just as risky as paying Carr 30 million a year. Either way he's staring down the barrel.
