Didn't the recently released draft hat have silver lettering?
-
You can make the argument Bryce was asked to do more but it still helps tremendously to have one of the greatest coaches in college football history to lean on and be coached by. And of course his coach is going to talk him up what else is he going to say? We know he didn't have MH JR but can we please stop acting like he was working with bums? Some of those guys will be drafted let's keep it real here. And even further let's be even more honest. Mac Jones who is overrated AF and was poo on here repeatedly before he was drafted did way more with Alabama and Saban. If Bryce had accomplished what Mac did the Bears would still be sitting at 1. Real talk.

The whole he has great receivers thing cuts both ways. How good do those wideouts look without his accuracy? Almost anyone who's anyone knows Harrison JR is an absolute stud. But Panthers fans especially should know that really only matters if you have an accurate passer who can get him the ball. We just traded away one and all we gave him was a shell of himself Cam Newton Kyle Allen Sam Darnold PJ Walker and Baker Mayfield then back to Darnold. If this and how he will react to NFL pressure is the biggest knock you can think of on Stroud then I think he has a plenty good chance of being a quality starting QB. Elite and all that noise is crazy talk way too early and I'll say that for any of the prospects under consideration. You are more than willing to overlook Young's glaring concerns but trash Stroud. Hey at least he AR and the mayonnaise in his coffee weirdo showed up to put in work at the combine. You do you man

Ron Rivera hints he "didn't mesh" with David Tepper
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
He might be idk. But if I were him I'd be less inclined to be doing media rounds and more inclined to keep my head down and get the team in order. -
Less training wheels? His coach was Nick Saban who will most likely retire with well over 300 career wins. Folks will speak about the OSU offense like it's easy mode then act like Alabama is some low level program run by just anybody. Comical.

Ron Rivera hints he "didn't mesh" with David Tepper

Why is he even rehashing this? -
I don't agree with the Dak Prescott Kirk Cousins comp and definitely not Carr. We don't know what Stroud's floor or ceiling is. Same with Young. They both have proven nothing at the NFL level. So let me break for this down for you and the rest of your honestly Branch Davidianesque pro Bryce Young brethren here. Before we traded up to #1 I had no dog in the fight between BY or CJS. Not an OSU fan not an Alabama fan. But once we made the trade and gave up what we did I wanted us to take either the best pure passer and football mind or the guy with physical intangibles through the roof. I've been open to options. But when you start dissecting things and looking at the prospects the one thing you notice is instead of Bryce Young saying you know what fug this I am who I am accept me draft me or don't he shrunk in the moment and stood around in a hoodie while the rest of the prospects went through the combine. Then he pulled another lame move in skipping the weigh in at his own pro day. He is legitimately shady about his one huge concern and for what we gave up that's a huge gamble for me. It outweighs any concerns I have with Stroud and even someone like Anthony Richardson. If you got a problem with that. Well...

Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?
frankw replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk about the debate but you can damn sure count on the Bryce Young superfans to be scouring the huddle late at night or first thing in the morning looking for any post remotely not complimentary about him to poo on. -

There are nitpick cons for both. But If Young's passing abilities are well above reproach why was he the only QB that skipped the combine? Then he wasn't particularly good throwing long at the Alabama pro day. Much is being said about his improvisation ability but holding onto the ball in the NFL isn't going to do him any favors. If he's going to do well for us it's going to be by getting the ball out quickly. And others have noted him having to put his whole body into some of those longer throws. Defensive coordinators are going to be putting his arm to the test from the jump The biggest knock on CJ is how he responds to pressure. But I've seen that moved into him being afraid of being hit which I really don't know where that comes from I haven't heard that until recently. Just for the sake of clarity BY had a 65.8 completion % while Stroud sits at 69.3. That's not a striking gap but no doubt Stroud is the more accurate passer and the case can be made he has the better arm. Moving beyond that as I've mentioned in another thread Reich is well known as a coach who likes to try and convert those third and short situations with QB sneaks. That doesn't fit Young. All we have left are whispers of sources and both Reich and Fitterer have offered little other than smoke and mirrors. Need proof? Reich also recently raved about Richardson and acknowledged he is certainly in the conversation for the #1 pick. Either they really are still in the thick of deciding which is their QB1 or they are just taking us along for a ride. No one can really claim either prospect is far and away the favorite at this point.

My guy you've got about half a dozen troll pro Bryce threads disguised as an attempt at legit discourse. Nobody has made as many about either prospect. Even the mods see what's going on.
-
Completely agree about Scot. But in terms of Stroud vs Young I think you might have missed a good number of posts. There is without a doubt a decent sized contingent here that really only talk about Bryce Young and behave in a manner that would make even the loudest Cam fans blush in their day. It's why most folks now regardless of which prospect they may prefer are just ready to get the first pick over with and accept whomever it will be.
-
Idk who you're referring to but I didn't say it was a "big deal". It was an odd remark that's about it. Other kids before the draft would possibly not receive the benefit of the doubt for that remark. If you disagree cool. BTW I didn't know we had so many Trevor Lawrence fans here. Man we really need to hit on our own QB pick.
-
I think he's confusing a hot take with a shitpost. Even many people who prefer Stroud aren't declaring Young an outright bust yet. We so need to get this pick over with already lol.
-
This thread is a hot mess. Clearly time for some folks in different corners of the fanbase for different reasons to let go of the past. Cam's gone Ron's gone Luke's gone that 2015 team is gone. Let go ya'll. And the same for people clearly still hating on #1. Arguably you are worse than anyone else for harboring that energy this many years later. It's not healthy.

No point hammering the obvious with Rivera anymore. He is who he is and that's someone else's problem. We're doing okay. Good luck to him with the mess known as the Commanders clearly he needs it.
-
Yeah I don't think it was a major red flag for Lawrence to say what he did but when I heard it this was my exact reaction. Hopefully mentalities like that change for the better as the years go on with newer generations. But then again idk how far off that will be you see how Lamar Jackson is perceived.

I could see him being dreadful or he ends up going to a team with the right staff and actually develops into a decent starter.

Well if you listen to some folks here bc bigger frame QB's have gotten injured too that somehow means it won't happen to Bryce Young. Which is bizarre to say the least because if I'm looking at the situation I'm saying the opposite. Seeing someone like Darnold get sent to IR by the Falcons tells me all I need to know about the likelihood of one the smaller framed QB's in recent years surviving a 10+ year career without accumulating some injuries along the way. If he's your guy in my mind you have to change your offensive approach not just in game planning but you need an even heavier emphasis on offensive line. And even then there are still going to be certain situations where you are simply at a disadvantage. Like QB sneaks in short yardage situations which Reich likes to run if I'm not mistaken. That's not happening with Young.
