S2troud? Some of ya'll are compensating for something I feel nothing but sympathy for anyone still holding on to a beef back during the pre-draft process. It's no way to live.

I think you could count on one hand the number of fans here who would be happy if he has a bad game. As far as injury every fanbase will have a meltdown if their franchise QB is injured. Well fair or not there are high expectations for a number one pick. And we didn't just fall into the top pick we moved up. Different people have different standards. And truth be told going even further this is all child's play compared to the hate Cam Newton got even when he had our franchise contending and made us relevant instead of an afterthought. He was repeatedly made to be the villain in the media too. Bryce Young isn't going to get that treatment. So long as he has this franchise on a competitive path only a few knuckleheads will have anything negative to say about him. I'm just going to enjoy the ride who knows how long it will last.

how important is it that we win preseason games?
frankw replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's important to see a certain level of production but I do not give a single fug about winning a preseason game. -
To each his own I guess. I could see bragging rights if the team he plays for were a division rival or a conference rival even. But he plays in the AFC. I'm not putting Bryce under a microscope and I'm not expecting that for the rest of the QB class either. Unless they are just dogshit and it's undisputed you have to let them get a full season under their belt. Piling on Stroud or whoever only invites criticism toward our own rookie when he makes mistakes which are going to happen. I believe we made the right pick based on what I've seen so far. But I also know what to expect from a rookie quarterback so I do not have really high expectations for this season other than to see an offense that is fun to watch.

Early? It's the first week of preseason lol. Whichever QB who went to Houston was going to face an uphill battle. Folks need to learn to separate draft prospect discussions from a personal vendetta bc it's not healthy to carry this years from now which I can tell some of you might.
-
Bryce and CJ are actually really good friends. Awareness helps.
-
All along anyone could tell you the Texans were a bad situation for Stroud to walk into. He has had a rough introduction to the NFL but it's weird some folks are so eager to hate on him. Most of them here have one obvious thing in common. Anyways hopefully Bryce Young has a decent first outing Saturday. I expect some ups and downs and that's okay just show me some flashes too.

I wouldn't trade Moton either but I share the sentiment it's never too early to be thinking about next year for the oline. Considering the failure of the group played a crucial role in years of squandered talent over the better part of a decade culminating in a Super Bowl loss I'd say we should know a thing or two about it. Also if you don't like the thread there is the option of entering other threads and engaging in those conversations instead.

Chris Fowler's Notes from Panthers Training Camp
frankw replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reddick is long in the rearview now. Burns does need to be more consistent. But saying he's the lesser of the two while glossing over the fact Reddick was playing on a stacked Super Bowl team on one of the best defenses in the league and helped by an offense led by an MVP candidate while we had Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield says you just don't like Burns. That's your prerogative but just be honest about it if so. -
Can we at least get a look at the guy in preseason? If you were thrilled about the Evero hire then maybe let him develop some under our new defensive coordinator.
-
He's going to have rookie growing pains regardless. Just take the good with the bad and enjoy the fact we are at least trying to go in a better and different direction from rotating other teams discarded quarterbacks. Also we should get it out of the way now and adjust expectations for our oline it's certainly a step up from what it once was but it's still going to be an issue for us in different spots.

Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It does not. But you are talking to someone who shouted Joe Brady's name in their sleep yet went in here harder than anyone else on behalf of one of the worst NFL coaches in history named Matt Rhule. -
Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well at least someone said it out loud. Anywho now and forever as far as I'm concerned it's fug the Broncos Peyton Manning and their refs they brought with them 🗣 -
Every single one of these loudmouth Panthers fans that scream about the first round picks we turned down would be frothing at the mouth when they saw our putrid pass rush post Burns trade. And if and when he lit it up in L.A. they would be calling for Fitterer's head. It's easy to make plans for some picks years from now. Not easy to sit and watch and live with the results in the meantime.

Reddick cost too much and he wanted to go to Philly to contend and fulfill his own goals of playing for the Eagles. Plus he wasn't exactly thrilled to be here based on some of his own remarks about things leading up to the conclusion of his season here. We gotta move on and stop acting like we had a real shot. Things have worked out for both parties.
-
I wanted more pass rush and he brings veteran knowledge. I'm happy.
-
You can absolutely see that players on both sides of the ball gravitate towards him and appreciate his presence. When we brought in QB's like Darnold and Mayfield you could sense instances of guys just saying the right things. I get the complete opposite vibe. I'm ready for Panthers gamedays to be fun again.

I'm not pro Cousins at all but even I wouldn't label him a choke artist. That's a strong term reserved for some true turds. He's been pretty productive in the regular season. I don't see the point in engaging in what if this happened or that happened scenarios. You can find games where his defense might not have had a good performance and you can find some where they made plays to help the team win but Kirk got the credit since he's the defacto leader. Even QB's who were great and changed the game can't run away from their losses. See our only MVP in franchise history and losing Super Bowl 50. From my POV it looks like some folks are just trying to stick up for Cousins bc they feel he is being unfairly slighted. But really he isn't and the criticism he has faced for his playoff record is no different than any other QB
-
We can squabble over Kirk's numbers but can we agree linking him with Burrow to soften his playoff record is a stretch? Burrow has already led his franchise to a Super Bowl by age 25 and the Bengals have been one of the worst teams in the league for years.
-
Numbers only tell part of the story everyone with eyes saw him throw a check down behind the line of scrimmage with a playoff game on the line. No one with any self respect or awareness would compare that to Joe Burrow except talking head bros looking for clicks. He isn't without talent but his playoff rep is what it is.

Scott Fowler:

Interceptions were always going to be in the cards with a young QB. The question is the mental make up and ability to bounce back and tune out the mistakes. So far from what I can tell Bryce has that trait. Just have to let him develop and take his lumps that all rooks experience along the way.

I for one very much appreciate the updates from OP and have awarded them a vast amount of pie for their efforts. Anyone that has a problem with that can kindly... 9a9e94ca-3a3b-4bcb-99c4-63bad71cddd6.mp4

9 out of 10 Panthers fans want Jaycee to ball out even if they are skeptical. Only a few trolls have an opposing viewpoint so the rabble rousing about armchair GM's is a waste of keystrokes.
