That's your perspective because you want those picks. You knock Fitterer for his decision making but you also want to entrust him with not potentially wasting said picks and locating our replacement for Burns which looking at our drafts the last few years is a tall order honestly bordering on fantasy. Burns or no Burns we need to draft better and people need to stop thinking Fitterer is some mastermind in his own tier amongst his peers.
-
The NFC is historically weak. Unless the Rams are ravaged with injuries they will likely be competing for a playoff spot. I'm not high on Fitterer right now either but if we had traded Burns those picks we can't do anything with right now would not make me feel any better. Because the issue is we aren't even drafting all that well either.

I don't get the complaining about negativity angle. Social media in all forms is a sea of negativity. Unplug and ditch your smartphone if you don't like it.

Really not any different from the Hurney years but still people hype him up. After all the "Finesserer" circle jerks it turns out we're the ones getting finessed more often than not.

I mean obviously losing an all time GOAT hurts. I don't disagree BB is overrated. But as far as the NFL goes it's a QB league. Until you find that guy you are just stuck in the mud doesn't matter who is coaching. IDGAF if the Patriots suck for the next several decades it's fine with me. I just want my Panthers to get their act together and stop being the butt of jokes.

Fitterer can go take a look at the list of the other QB's in our conference and sing his sad song about low expectations to other teams in the NFC and they'll laugh their ass off. This is the most wide open I've seen it in years. Who's the non AFC QB that's going to keep defensive players and coaches up at night? If the Panthers aren't competing it will be due to plain old fashioned incompetence.

Even if I'm being a homer and think BB hasn't done jack poo since Brady left I can't overlook the fact our drafts overall the last few years have been not too good. There isn't a striking difference from some of the Hurney drafts despite the hype Fitterer has received. I'm sincerely hoping that changes with this years draft class though.

Yet some folks here will still be shining Scott Fitterer's shoes for him.
-
I'll definitely check in down the line to see how he's doing. As of now what an L on that trade.
-
As weak as the NFC and the division has become we better win at least 7 or 8 games. No excuses.

You don't hire someone as your head coach because you want to do them a favor. That's certainly no better than Tepper and Hurney falling in love with Matt Rhule over meatballs. And if you are going to cite unstable ownership as the reason it was unfair one candidate was fired while overlooking whatever the hell Jim Irsay is doing in Indianapolis. Well you don't have a leg to stand on.

Anyone that actually longs for another version of Ron Rivera is beyond convincing. Hell the players once loved him and they also loved a guy named Marty Hurney too.
-
Right but the 49ers are stacked and have had about half a dozen first rounders to build that d line with. Well that's unfortunate because like Rivera even the defense which is supposed to be the bread and butter of both left a lot to be desired the last time we saw them coaching for us. I've eviscerated Tepper for the clown show he's overseen with Matt Rhule but I cannot blame him for opting to go with an offensive minded head coach this time.

Did you watch the Bengals game bud? I liked Wilks personally but the passage of time seems to have made for some fuzzy memories.
-
That's a "pay attention to me" take.
-
Very reasonable take. I like Scott Fitterer too. As far as the question of what was him and what was Rhule. I'll just leave you with this. He's been outspoken on his thoughts about Ian Thomas being an asset for us despite the results showing the complete opposite. He's got some flaws.
-
Threads about two former Panthers coaches holding strong on the first page as we are days away from the season opener. Think we need some wins here in Carolina? I don't want to hear poo about rebuilds or taking time. This franchise needs a jolt. I'm not gonna want to hear any excuses if the same issues plague the team.
-
Overall I concur. The bad cannot be overlooked though because we are still waiting on his first winning season as GM. The longer the wait the more amplified his failures will be because as some folks have told us over the years here repeatedly. You are what your record says. That's just the nature of the business. Hopefully we can string together a better record this season.

Not at all surprised the Cardinals are a complete dumpster fire of an organization. Up until recently we haven't had much room to judge though. And we're still waiting to see if we've turned the corner. As for Wilks no other team interviewed him for their head coaching vacancy. You could argue it was a coordinated effort to keep him out based on his pending legal efforts toward the league. But even though it's bullshit and I think the owners are mostly scumbags you have to acknowledge the likelihood that him airing this dirty laundry out means he will probably never get another look. Anywho for anyone who is passionate about this discussion I'm sure you can find some folks willing to engage on the 49ers message boards. Since he coaches for them now and all.

Here on the huddle a lot of people would have you believe Scott Fitterer has been pressured into moves that ended up being bad for the team. But the moves that ended up being good are definitely all him. Seeing a repeat of the worship like behavior we saw with Gettleman once upon a time.
-
We cannot absolve Fitterer of that he was very vocal about Corral being part of our future on draft night. Can't keep blaming Rhule for everything.

We dropped Jordan and had to get someone in line with his abilities

Jordan and Erving cut on the same day. Glad to see it. Let's get serious about protecting our quarterback.
