  1. To win that convincingly minus Bridges Richards and Williams shows the growth this team is making under Charles Lee. Miller and Ball are going to be a hell of a combo over the coming years.
  2. I get your point on the surface and obviously agree he like any other human being should have a personal life and time to himself but seeing him mentioned in the same breath as current or future hall of famers is beyond tiring. It's been happening since before we drafted him. Luke Kuechly is a rare breed. How about we just let Bryce prove himself better than one of the three current worst statistical passers in the entire league?
  3. There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
  4. Of course it's ultimately on the Panthers. At the same time him engaging in that deception should null and void any claims of having anything be unfair at this level. He willingly played the system to get picked #1. He got what he wanted.
  5. Right. Aside from that the other key issue is he is not in any way shape or form the football IQ savant that people sold him to be. The "field general" like Peyton Manning. He's missing things all over the field. Some of it you can chalk up to being beaten up behind the OL last year but even before that took it's toll he was not reading the field well and throwing very ill advised picks. Unfortunately this pick has been a perfect storm of bad circumstances that will get you a bust every time.
  6. Obviously he is at a phsyical disadvantage but the laid back offseason certainly didn't help matters. As has been said before. If you're going to be even smaller than other notable comparable outliers you are going to have to work at least twice as hard as your peers. Bryce Young was never challenged like this before because he had the best talent and coaching around him in high school and college. He needed to completely flip the script on his approach following his rookie season. Do you think he did?
  7. If impressing Scott Fitterer meant anything he'd still be here. As it is he is the guy who rambled to us about that special "nutritional program" they would be getting Bryce on when asked about Bryce's size translating to the NFL. Clausen got us Cam Newton for the record. We can put him in the hall of honor for that as far as I'm concerned. All Bryce Young has done so far is collect 38 million dollars.
  8. Did you watch the first two games? As of right now statistically across the entire league only Aidan O'Connell and Jameis Winston have less passing yards per game than Bryce Young. Only Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett have less yards per pass attempt. Only Anthony Richardson has a worse passer rating. So. Are you suggesting that is the result of Bryce Young working his ass off?
  9. I actually would be kind of impressed if he showed that level of cockiness. If you're going to be the smallest on the field you better at least have some fire in your belly.
  10. You are taking rationalizing to an extreme. Yes the Panthers have been poorly ran to say the least. However both Mayfield and Darnold have the physical build and physical tools necessary to compete at this level. Mahomes? He's a generational phenom with every phsyical tool. Come on. Bryce still has to prove he can physically and mentally compete at this level against good teams. That's what we are waiting to see through the final stretch of the schedule.
  11. Most teams figured the Ravens wouldn't actually deal him though and it's valid. An MVP quarterback in his prime? That's career suicide by the part of the Ravens GM. Only someone like Scott Fitterer would be dumb enough for that.
  12. 8ish million a year is reasonable. We don't have a great history long term with paying backs second contracts. I like Chuba a lot as a player and a person so I hope he balls out and we don't regret it. But no one here can predict the future. We just have to wait and see how it pans out. If I have one issue with this contract it's the fact that our offense is still bottom of the league despite this signing. Obviously that's not because of Hubbard. But we have got to start getting some production from the QB room or purge the whole damn thing.
  13. Wow what a way to end it. Nice clutch win at home. They showed up big despite the circumstances. Love seeing the group play hard for one another.
  14. Yeah he needs the chance to draft and develop his own QB regardless I agree. Either way let's make this QB room much more competitive next season. No handing any guys jobs or reps. Everything earned.
  15. Sanders has the right mentality I knew that from how he spoke after we drafted him. Hopefully the young core can keep building their confidence and chemistry with one another. Now they just need to stay in games and keep competing.
  16. On Bryce I just don't know. Some people think they're already sold he's out regardless of the remaining games. But I think the powers that be are still clinging to hope they can salvage him and the whole trade. The way they're acting like Andy Dalton basically had his thumb amputated instead of it just being a sprain confirms such at least for me. TMJ was here through 3 head coaches I don't include him in that when assessing development. He was a lost cause already. I don't think most rational people think firing Canales after one season is going to solve our problems. Myself included. At the same time this franchise is never going to emerge from cellar/laughingstock status without some semblance of standards. Canales has been part of the problems that have ailed this team. And the truth of the matter is Dave Canales barely outmaneuvered fired coach Dennis Allen in a game that came down to a bobbled pass on 4th down. We need to see some fight in this team down the final stretch people here are used to losing anyways. Just go down swinging. That's all I'm expecting to see. These blowout losses like the ones against Chicago and Washington are not acceptable.
  17. Let me first say I like XL the player and his potential a lot. But he is definitively hot and cold at times. That's not to say he won't improve. That's just the current grade. We hired Canales to fix Bryce Young and develop the roster in what was assuredly going to be a lost season. Bryce Young is still statistically bottom 3 in the league and we've already shipped off two wide receivers. There's not much to rejoice over right now on the development front that's just an honest assessment. I don't see any point in hammering on one another over Bryce Young. I never said Tepper or any of the staff were analytics over everything I said it's been a key aspect in the process for the most part and it has. Tepper fell for Bryce Young the same way he fell for Matt Rhule. The guy has absolutely no clue what he's doing and is impulsive. That is why our franchise is in shambles.
  18. Wallace is still raw won't really know anything until at least next season. I'm going to be brutally honest and say other than Coker who seems to be developing by sheer determination and a chip on his shoulder for going undrafted I've seen very little development from the wide receivers this season. That's one of my biggest issues with Canales and his staff. Really need to see some strong bright spots for the second half of the season. All we know for certain on the subject that is the Young vs Stroud saga is that Tepper pushed for Bryce he told us even well before the draft he spoke to Bryce and informed him he wanted him to be a Panther. Like I said. We have only a small sample size by which to judge Morgan's tendencies in the draft. Have to wait until next year for more answers. But he needs multiple homerun picks in the next two drafts if he's going to be successful here. Even shitty Marty Hurney had some of those.
  19. Not comparing the players just the use of analytics which has been and remains a key part of the structure of our approach in the draft since David Tepper became owner. All I'm saying is going forward we just don't know if this team will stop drafting Jonathan Mingo type prospects because the scouts are largely the same and the approach largely remains the same. Morgan has said he seeks players with a certain mentality (I refuse to type the phrase because this team has gotten taken to the woodshed too many times this season so it falls on deaf ears now) that's really the only key difference I can see as of right now. Next years draft will tell us what we need to know.
