  1. https://torontosun.com/2012/11/03/why-cam-newton-is-struggling-qa-with-greg-cosell Here's a bit of an insight into his thoughts on Newton early in his career. Cosell was up and down on Cam but unless you can cite the article or video in question I can't help with that. Newton's footwork is what kept him from consistently reaching that level he did in 2015. I'll concede that every single time. It's a shame but it happens. He definitely lacked touch on certain throws too. He relied on his physicality probably to a fault. But when he was on what a sight to behold. All we have now are highlights. Oh absolutely he was useless at screens. But when he first entered the league things hadn't yet changed to what we see now with a larger emphasis on short passes. That just wasn't his game at Auburn and he was never good at it in the NFL. It just is what it is.
  2. Sir. You sought out OP to get on his case when he suggested there have been Tepper apologists. And when asked about your own history in defense of Mr. Tepper you've proceeded to have a meltdown. Why don't we just agree that the stakes have changed and Tepper has worn out his free passes that some people extended to him? He did indeed have some apologists. There was even one poster here who basically dedicated his entire account to posting about him. Remember the Appaloosa Model? We're a long way from that.
  3. Certainly not a win Hey if you're looking for silver linings say no more do your thing.
  4. I got through what I could of this word salad. Parts of it you are somewhat coherent. The rest? Ehhhh. You are honestly just riffing off classic talking points about Cam that he proved untrue years ago. Which is ironic considering you have the nerve to talk about an agenda. Yours is plain to see. But I think the crux of your argument hinges on some level of mythical hype you've conjured up about Bryce Young in your head. There are things about him we just don't know yet until he shows it. What he does well bodes positively for his football IQ going forward. What he doesn't do well bodes troublesome concerns around his phsyical traits that are average. But he has time to grow in those aspects. I do not think he is going to change all that much over the next few years as far as his build though. The plus side is so far he's been a tough bastard behind a subpar OL and against some tough pass rushing opponents. That's commendable. But the rest of the season is going to be about what Bryce Young can show as a passer. All the other moving parts we can discuss as much as we like but there has to be progress in the mid range to deep passing categories. You can throw tantrums about this in all caps if it makes you feel better but truly almost everyone here wants him and the team to succeed. We don't have to subscribe to your borderline manifestoesque ramblings to be Carolina Panthers fans. We're here.
  5. https://www.foxsports.com/articles/nfl/2023-nfl-defense-rankings-team-pass-and-rush-stats Seahawks pass defense is currently ranked 28th. The Dolphins are 19th. The Vikings and Lions are ranked 17th and 18th. The Texans are sitting at 24th. They also have the 28th ranked 3rd down defense. They are pretty bad. If Bryce is going to show out it should be at home next game. And he's got a new playcaller.
  6. Hate is a strong word. I gave him a chance but he clearly wasn't the guy after several starts. I vocally wanted to move on and I make no apologies for it. That being said he did have some moments where he impressed. But what it boiled down to was he was like Kirk Cousins in that playoff game opting for a pass behind the line of scrimmage instead of going for broke. Except somehow worse. You can't win with that. Personality wise Teddy was kind of awkward at times. But he was totally right about Rhule and his staff and that vindicated him to a degree. As much as I don't like it. There are some things about Teddy that line up with Bryce for the moment. But it's too early to say. We have to let the season play out.
  7. "Anti-Bryce" is basically "anything I don't want to read that challenges my thoughts". Some of this reminds me of when we were having the first real doubts about Matt Rhule and people who didn't want to hear about it kept labeling any criticism as "Anti-Rhule".
  8. If that's all it is we will certainly know by the conclusion of the season. For the sake of everyone's sanity and overall feelings hopefully Brown is the one to unlock it. If however things do not work out that way though I expect this place will not be at all pleasant for some people.
  9. Being that you're a twitter (X) regular it's strange you think cleansing this place is going to lead to all problems being solved. If anything you should be used to this and fully understand this is the way the internet is and will remain as long as humans are involved.
  10. This works both ways and there have been plenty of instances of those on that other side accusing people of simply being haters or that they should go root for this team or that team because they haven't fully bought in to the required group think that's being endorsed at that time. This thread would be a bridge between all that and about positive Panthers news. If people don't want to deal with that they will have every other thread to discuss controversial subjects as much as they would like.
  11. I concur completely. This is one area where our GM inexcusably dropped the ball. Interior pressure has been an ongoing problem through multiple QB's now. We'll see how it shakes out.
  12. If it's just a single place to drop off some positive thoughts that's probably helpful for people to lift their spirits as a break. There are other threads for banter that goes off for pages about one particular issue or other derailed thoughts. It's worth a try if it will help end every other thread from turning into the same positive vs negative free for all.
  13. In the first quarter absolutely he looked like a competent starting QB and showed off some nice passes. He has the necessary zip within 20 yards. That's what we've been waiting to see. But it's beyond that mark where these discussions turn sour because nobody likes talking about it. There are some throws still that just aren't his forte. Maybe it will come with time maybe it's a couple of combined factors within our not adequate offense. The second half concerns me and it's tough to spend a bye week with that as our final images. But we have a new playcaller and a home game. There's a lot at stake in this Texans game beyond the head to head between the #1 and #2 pick. I'd like to see sustained drives and a few 30+ yard completions at minimum. Hopefully the oline is up to the task.
  14. I think you misread the post from the jump. It wasn't an attack on you. I was simply stating that right now Young has probably at best an average or below average NFL arm. He's only 22 and that could change. But the situation is the situation currently. It's difficult to reconcile with the fact that's what we traded up to at number one overall. I don't like it either but it's a reality I'm going to accept for the time being.
  15. At this point one would have to remove all logic to deem Young a phsyical specimen with an arm capable of putting the ball wherever he wants. It's been well known he has had a little hop motion to make certain throws going back to Alabama. Or he has to put everything he has into it upon given about 5-6 seconds in the pocket to wind up a bomb to a wide open receiver (like the Alabama highlight play that's been floating around here). If we were drafting a project QB in the late 2nd that's one thing. But we were repeatedly assured Young didn't need elite weapons to produce. Now he does. If we're going to chalk that up to things change and sometimes you get it wrong okay but that's not what we should have been looking for in a trade up to first overall for such substantial investment.
  16. I am hoping Thomas Brown is the man to unlock what this offense and Bryce Young have lacked to this point. Hopefully that's a positive enough post to fulfill the required standards.
  17. I don't like the Teddy comparisons but there are some parallels in terms of all the short attempts at or within 10 yards of the LOS. And others have noted Bryce Young has looked different throwing deep since the conclusion of Alabama's 2021 season.
  18. Best of luck to Matt getting his life together but at this point he probably has the better arm between he and Bryce.
  19. Ask yourself this. Why does Bryce Young still look as ineffective throwing deep as he did back in fanfest at BOA when he Corral and Dalton all went through the same passing drills and both looked better than him throwing deep? Remind me. Where is Corral right now?
  20. Why are we attacking OP? We are 0-6 our only points in 3 quarters were from the defense and we got blown out again but we're celebrating a positive PFF grade? This is why we can't talk about Bryce Young.
  21. Looks like the huddle is getting plenty of clicks. But there are people here who simply will not tolerate others not following the carefully crafted narrative that tiptoes around Bryce Young having basically zero deep passing ability.
  22. How could you not remember telling other people they are being unreasonable for being critical of Tepper? We aren't talking about politics we are talking about your own posts. You're doing the same thing now that you did when asked about past remarks over a certain WR we traded that you also emphatically denied. You think having a quality and state of the art practice facility wouldn't have some level of impact on the team?
  23. Everyone says they're a Tepper critic now and he's the worst meddler in the league. Very entertaining.
