Why does someone need to delete their IG, FB, whatever to focus on something else? I just don't get that sentiment, unless it's an addiction problem. Like, he can't learn the playbook because he cannot physically stop himself from scrolling all day and night. Idk, just don't see how social media is a distraction unless you are literally on it 24/7. He's not posting to the 'gram while on the sideline. Anyways @WarPanthers89, I don't necessarily mean to direct this diatribe at you, it's just I've seen things like this said about distractions or whatever in different places and in regards to different subjects, and it's never really made sense to me so I wanted to ramble on about that subject.

Rhule's Press Conference Irked Me

Almost feel bad for the Cardinals. Midweek and now they have to prepare for Cam eFing Newton instead of some JAG. I bet their DC is shittting himself right about now.

Welcome home. Now go win us some games!

I'm not sure if it's the system so to speak. Teddy moved the ball fine. It was mostly dump offs, but it worked and we obviously racked up yardage. Red zone was about 100% of the problem and without TD's, that will kill a QBs rating and screws up the TD/int ratio that factors in and QB's are often judged off of. I think it may have been more the play calling. The only thing that does give me pause however is the longer throws. He seems to have no issues this year compared to last year. I am not sure what to think of that. Looking at stats now though, his air yards is slightly higher this year, but his QBR is actually quite a bit lower. TD's is significantly higher, but otherwise his stats are all very, very similar this year to last. Outside of TD's, he definitely looks better this year, but statwise, only somewhat. tldr - So after all those words, I think it's not the system, just was the play calling or play design in the red zone.

Burns sends a message to fellow DE’s and Mac Jones
Luciu5 replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is kind of off topic but bugs the shitt out of me. Why the f can't reporters get quotes right? He said "They're not going to hit me up." It was clear as day. Just don't get how that quote is wrong. I know David Newton, but it's more widespread than him and more widespread than just sports. -
I don't know where in BoA this is located, but there you go. This is a screen cap from Feb 2020 fyi.

I feel like this thread is 1 year and about 11 months late. As to what was Tepper thinking? He's got money and doesn't care. He wanted his guy and made an offer that couldn't be refused. Rhule's salary might look large compared to other coaches, but isn't very large compared to Tepper's income. At any rate, who cares? I fail to see how much Rhule is paid is relevant to anything that a normal person would care about. That said, I know there are about 85 people on the planet who care about it and they are all here on the Huddle and will all be in this thread in a minute.

1. It's been one day. It's technically still "this week". In fact it will probably be still "this week" for several more days now. 2. That said, nothing is happening this week with the staff.

Which trade was worse 2nd for Darnold or 3rd for Henderson?
Luciu5 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eh, neither on their own. Henderson was worth a 3rd. Ideally he'll contribute significantly more next year and he'll be worth it for sure. Even if he's worth holding onto as a high end backup he'd be worth a 3rd. Darnold was an overpay but QB's pretty much always go for a premium. My problem is both of them in the same season really depleting our draft capital coming up. All in all, probably not that big of a deal. We'll trade down a few spots and make up for at least one of them if not both plus more. Personally I'm ok with both deals. In the grand scheme of things, they likely don't matter all that much beyond Darnold making this a wasted season. It becomes a bigger problem if they keep taking every "can't miss deal" on every busted player with potential. -
Rhule. Ultimately it's his call on who the QB is going to be. But I'm not going to sit here and hollar for him to be fired when his THIRD choice (Watson, Stafford, Darnold) at QB is failing miserably. ORLY?!?!?!? Y'all Darnold was a desperate "We are going to actually try to win games" move instead of rolling with the trash on the roster. When they were hiding Darnold in the preseason, it's probably because they already knew then what Darnold was. Keeping Teddy imo would have been the better choice, but I think that bridge was burned last season.

You aren't even a Panthers fan wtf do you know about this franchise? I mean you were a Jets fan and followed Darnold over. Yet you still talk. Curious if you'll follow Darnold wherever he goes next year.

The defense is top 5. Even with the offense playing the way they have been.

CMC just got activated and Sam cleared the protocols.
Luciu5 replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eh, maybe the coaching staff isn't that concerned with QB position right now. They have barely started working on the oline, why would they put a real QB back there now??? Rhule is taking cheap shots at the QB position right now while he builds a team. I bet we get us a QB in 2023. Also I bet Rhule discussed how he planned to build the team with Tepper before he was hired. Rhule gets a lot of hate here. In 2019, our defense was ranking 31. After one full season, we have a defense ranked in the top 5. (Defense ranking based on PA) I don't understand the hate. Give the man time because -if- he can duplicate that success with the offense, then we will have a real contender here. -
How is he on waivers? Please don't say Cleveland waived him, derp.

Oh yes and I think we are manipulating with the PS and IR as well. I just get the feeling teams are using these 3 week IR for some roster management, sort of an extended PS protected status. Idk, maybe these guys have legit minor injuries that it's better to get them off the roster than have them take up space for a couple weeks. Which I'm talking about backup guys like Darryl Johnson. I have a feeling he will go off IR whenever another Dlineman goes down and we need more depth there.

Looking at the big picture, building a team question
Luciu5 replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
The offense is a dumpster fire. It clearly needs attention. The team knows it. I'm hoping they actually target it and not go overly bpa. If they aren't drafting heavy offense this draft then that would be very disappointing. -
The season is over for me but it's crazy how folks lose all sense here. Can't wait for more reasonableness. Maybe in the off-season.
-
We could actually probably use a little more dishonest play, tbh.

It'd have to be something non-football related. They have barely dipped a toe into improving the offense. I think the coaches know that. Rhule & co have proved enough on the defense to have another offensive minded draft. Darnold sucks bad and I think he is the real problem. It's honestly the biggest change from last year to this. We did not have these issues last year; not like this. My biggest question for the coaching staff is essentially why can't you evaluate a qb? If they can't pick a QB who has the ability to be a starter, then they aren't going to cut it.

He's been in the nfl for less than a season and a half. Wtf. Are you on crack or is it meth? Perhaps psychedelics? I'm sorry that's not enough time to decide it's not working out, especially looking at the defense which is vastly improved from the start of last year. Let me say this. If it's not working out for Rhule, it would be personal related and not football related. Coach Rhule has not failed in the NFL yet. This take is as dumb as people thinking he's getting fired this year. Good grief you losers need therapy.
