Nah. LT is probably the most important guy on the oline (center is very key though), but almost as important as the QB? No single player is even close to the importance of the QB. You can scheme around a poor LT, but you aren't winning with a poor QB. You can win a SB with an average LT. It's very difficult to win a SB with an average QB and forget about a poor one.

Just in general, way WAY WAY WAYmore clip board holders in the other group. The one outside the top 10. QB with a high pick is a big risk; like only 20% actually work out. After that? Those chances rapidly decrease to infinitesimal.

Yeah, but he has a ring. He's cemented himself as one of the best, if not the best in the league. Potential HoF receiver. He might see it's time to make sure his great, great, great, grandkids are set for life.

Isn't Josh Rosen out of the league at this point? He was a different level of bad. Is Chicago's new coach going to dump Fields? Probably not. I'd say if whoever we draft, if we end up with the #1 overall pick next year, we will draft another QB. I think it's more about draft position than anything else.

I'm cool with signing Jimmy G for cheap. I don't think he will be cheap enough though. I don't know every teams cap situation, but I'd could see him getting $10-$15M/y on the open market and I'm not sure if we'd pay that with Darnold literally sucking cap space.

Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably not. We weren't part of any of the final considerations, but neither were a number of other teams. Only difference between us and indy, or philly, was that we got far enough along with mutual interest to get an interview. Watson's interest here was most likely due to location, which became obsolete once Atlanta was an option; because that was the real location of his interest. -

We weren't in the final 2. We aren't really part of this story. This really focuses on a chapter that didn't include us. This chapter begins once us and Cleveland are eliminated. I think you are overthinking it. -
It's either this or Fitt doesn't want to commit to personnel for a particular scheme which may change dramatically with a different coaching staff.

PFF's Sam Monson on Panthers free agency
Luciu5 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The most repeated take I've heard here (in general, not you specifically) is that no FA was coming here, none of our guys would resign with us, because in the entire league nobody wants to play for Rhule. Well that turned out to be about the dumbest thing I've read in the last few months. I'm just happy this place isn't so depressing these days. -
Only the 51 highest contracts count against the cap. Practice squad players usually have no cap hit.

LMAO! Not sure if this guy is joking or is a lil bitch.

David Newton's "cryptic" comment got me to thinkin

In a vacuum, Pickett is the best of all remaining options, mostly due to his immediate potential. Pickett at 6 is a different conversation. -
“Franchise QBs have no desire to sign with Carolina”
Luciu5 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Then why do FA's keep signing with us? Some of which have been quite good, had very good careers so far. Also why did Moore sign an extension for a team no player wants to play for and is probably setting his career back years because of this? This take doesn't really match reality, except for QB's who want to win now. -
I can excuse Tepper for the Rhule hire. What's not excusable is this Watson nonsense. He needs to get his nose out of the football side.
-
Yeah, didnt' this guy account for something close to 100% of the offense last year?
-
Why keep a coaching staff/FO when you know this is what they will be dealing with? It's a lose/lose situation with predetermined results. Just not getting the reluctance to fire Rhule and suffer through a handicapped season.

Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins
Luciu5 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
They wouldn't, but we're on the huddle where most everything is make believe so I figured it would fit right in. In all seriousness though, that's about the only way I'd take Cousins. He's absolutely an upgrade over Darnold, but his cap hit is insane and I wouldn't want to spend any draft picks on him. I'd negotiate with him as a free agent as a stopgap QB, but a trade? nah. -

I'd be fine with it if they are giving us a 1st round pick. We can make the cap space for that monstrous contract of his for 1 year in order to accumulate picks. We could get a premier LT at 6 and afford to take a flyer on a QB at 12. -
I'd be hesitant to restructure CmC every year. That's just putting a ass ton of dead cap at the end of his contract. We restructured him last year.
-
Also how much is guaranteed? If we can move on after 1 year with no dead cap, then I say great.

Was Rhule forced by Tepper to hire experienced coaches?
Luciu5 replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
What?!?!!?? I've been following the panthers for more than a decade and I have never, ever heard this anywhere. This is some huddle made up nonsense, right? Link to source if you don't mind. -
I meant this season.

I just thought it was entertaining. He's the only player that started as a Panther and ended up as a Super Bowl champion. Like it or not, it's on his resume now. I don't have much opinion on it but like I said originally, just thought I'd share. Oh and cutting him was the right choice, he just lucked out on his landing spot.

This guy right here has SB ring now. Just thought I'd share that fun fact.
