Raptors don't count. I'd say Lightnings don't count either.

To further add to this, the clause allows for cancellation of all his guaranteed money if he is found doing other things like watching tv or playing video games or anything else that may be distracting while the ipad is in use.

He's talking about the 5 reaction options. Speaking of, there really should be an lol reaction. Or maybe a clown for some folks posts.....

More behind the scenes info on the Mayfield trade
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, exactly this. This is what the Darnold trade should have looked like. Take a shot on a cheap trade and take a shot in the draft. Take more shots. The strategy overall that they are doing at QB is sound, the implementation (last offseason) has been questionable. ESPECIALLY picking up Darnold's 5th year option. That's my main complaint with that trade. -
He was also at the throwing session with all the other QBs. If he wasn't planning on signing, I don't think he'd be participating in something like that. Most likely he has been in California and will sign Tuesday morning.

Thought for sure this would be secondary. I don't think the author is wrong if McCaffrey stays healthy. I think secondary would have been the safer choice though.

So 6th from the bottom is far from it? Just for the record, I think we are not the 26th worst roster in the league (minus QB), and it sounds like the writers of the article doesn't think so either, but that's the rank they give. I feel like these preseason rankings are basically just the previous April's draft order with some shakeups based on QB movement - like the Seahawks.

According to Albert Breer's math, and not counting TB in the equation as he saw Teddy as always being just a temporary option. He gets into it a little more, talks about what we got instead (Brown/Horn/Ickey), and basically concludes we have not overpaid at the QB position. He gets into Mayfield some as well. All around good read. https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/07/18/panthers-investment-at-quarterback-adds-up "Add together trades for Sam Darnold (2021 sixth-rounder and ’22 second- and fourth-rounders), Matt Corral (’22 fourth-rounder and third-rounder) and Mayfield (a conditional fifth-rounder in ’23), and using the draft value chart, you can actually put a number on all of these deals. If we’re putting the future picks in the middle of the rounds, and Mayfield plays 70% of the team’s offensive snaps (making that ’23 pick a fourth-rounder), the sum of the picks comes to 869 points. If Mayfield plays less than that, it’s 844 points. The 19th pick on the chart is worth 875 points. The 20th pick is worth 850 points."

"I don’t think I’d ever say never. But I’m moving my way around it, if you think about it. I did the scouting. Now I’m gonna try to do this radio stuff. Obviously, the time commitment for coaching, there’s really no hiding that. I think that is what it is. And I think the moment you sign up, you have to be OK with the time. So we’ll see. You never say never. I love the game. It’s fun to teach. We’ll see what happens." https://theathletic.com/3416574/2022/07/18/luke-kuechly-panthers-radio-baker-mayfield/ Overall an interesting read, but really vanilla. One thing clear from it though, I think Luke really loves the Panthers.

My biggest concern is, why didn't anyone else want him? I know Seattle inquired but turns out weren't all that interested. Most teams are set at QB and Baker wouldn't 100% be an upgrade. There are a number of teams though that Baker could be an upgrade for. If he was so prolific, why was nobody else knocking at the Browns door? Possibly they thought he'd be cut and could be had for cheaper? Possibly they were scared of the $19 million contract and never realized he could be had so cheaply? It's hard to guess why we were the only serious bidder. There's a lot to like about Baker Mayfield on paper. There is also a lot of contradictory things out there about him personally. Either way, I think he's an upgrade to Darnold, and I'm glad he was cheap.

WalterFootball... High on the Panthers for the NFC?

This power ranking is absolute bonkers! (For the record, I see 11 wins MAX. Realistically 5-9.) -
No. But with a little more offense, the opposing teams won't be able to run as much as they did last year. They will have to pass more which plays into our defenses strength. Interestingly, our defense was ranked 9th best last year in rushing yards per attempt.

Twitter accused Baker Mayfield of being a gaming addict
Luciu5 replied to Tyler Waves's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, WoW was a problem for a lot of people I knew. Never really heard of people being addicted to Halo though. -
I've never really understood rooting for "your" team to lose, which I see a lot here on the Huddle. If you are a fan, you support the team and root for the team to win. I understand "losing to win", but that's not our job as fans; not our place as fans. Personally, when I watch a game, I want to watch the team win. Everytime. I've never turned on the TV and watched a Panther's game hoping for a loss. It's just a weird mentality as a fan that I can't comprehend. Who cares who the coach/gm/owner/qb/towel boy is? I'm not a Matt Rhule fan or Cam Newton fan or David Tepper fan. I'm a Panthers fan and I want the Panthers to succeed, everyday. Every time they step on the field. Nobody else matters and nothing else matters but wins. The fact is, if I root for the team to win or if I root for the team to lose, does not change reality. If the coach sucks, the team will lose, and he will be replaced. I don't need to be a poo fan to make that happen. I'll always support my teams and I always cheer for wins. Everything else will take care of itself.

They are kinda a one hit wonder. I think they actually have a few songs, but are mostly known for just that one - Fat Lip. They are kind of a punk/alternative band of the 90s/00's.

Also it's not just the offense, but the defenses he's facing. If he doesn't know where the blitz is coming from, hard to avoid it.
