  1. I don't understand how some of these people aren't NFL coaches or GM's.
  2. To add to this, also they are free agents. They have to WANT to come here. We can't just pick people and make them play for us if they don't want to. It's impossible to say who we targeted that came back and said "there is not enough money in the world..."
  3. I think they took who they could and who fit their system. Not every olineman is good for a zone blocking system. Or put another way, a great olineman can look bad in the wrong system. I think "gambled" is a shitty way of putting it. Every player, every draft pick is a gamble. Nothing is guaranteed in football. The connotation in that sentence is odd because yes we gambled (every player is a gamble), yes we lost, no we are not on the hook for huge draft picks and dead cap. I'm not sure how these FA signings were big time losses? They weren't. We missed on two relatively cheap FA's in year 2 of a rebuild... Draft wise, I'm pretty sure the goal was maximize picks and get BPA because we still needed players all over the roster. Olinemen did not line up this year with that strategy except for Christianson who specifically traded back up for. I think if more olinmen graded out where we were drafting, we would have picked more olinemen, but those stars did not align. I imagine we will have a more targeted oline draft next year because we have much less holes compared to the last two years and most of those holes is on the oline. As for being aggressive vs running the ball. Darnold was playing like poo. Maybe the coaches could see Sam was a turnover waiting to happen and were purposely taking the ball out of his hands?
  4. I didn't get the impression he was blaming defense or saying we lost because of the defense. He did say when we needed 1 more stop, the defense failed even after the investments made on that side of the ball. Period. Take that for what it is. That statement is not incorrect at all. The team is built right now for the defense to carry the offense. I think the defense did an outstanding job with the exception of a couple drives. It's hard to get a stop on a sudden change on a 27 yard field. Holding them to a field goal there would have been brilliant though. That was the 3rd turnover btw (blocked punt basically is a turnover imo). First one was held to 3 pts. Second one resulted in a punt, so the defense did it twice already in the same game. I think this place has a lot of people who a) like drama and b) are very angry people.
  5. He's not smiling and he's from the Jags. Bet he has mental health issues.
  6. Hey that one guy on here isn't going to have a meltdown now! He got his wish!
  7. It's doable. Idk about likely, but absolutely doable. It's probably equally likely we lose 2/3. Pretty much a tossup at this point imo.
  8. Idk. Rhule said Darnold needs to play in the system and seemed to be implying that Sam would skip over an open 1st read and go to the second instead of throwing to the first read. In the pic above, it's possible the first read was Royce Freeman (or is that Chuba?), wide open, skipped though for the next read. I can't say for certain if that play was to be read deep to shallow or vice versa though.
  9. That's pretty dumb. It's been obvious since week 1 they weren't as bad as the Falcons. They are an under .500 team but not bottom 5.
  10. We were always going to sneak into the playoffs at best and (very likely) lose in the first round if we did. This isn't really news. Personally, I think playoffs is still possible. Doubtful, but possible. The oline would have to get their ish together and play better for it to happen, which is unlikely. Looking at the NFC though, there is two spots available with no clear favorite for those 2. (Cardinals/Rams seem a lock for one of the 3 wildcards.)
  11. Were they suppose to just not have a QB??? I mean, it's obvious Rhule and co. want to win. They weren't rolling with PJ or Greer. They had to take a shot on somebody. So yeah, they went with their last option before the fug it just tank options. Was there a better option this past offseason that I'm not aware of?
  12. Sam's gotta play better. If Sam still looks like poo, even with a win, idc. Sam can't be the guy he was this past Sunday. I'd really rather him work out then for us to be QB limbo. Either way, we have to win this week.
  13. Did the defense allow the Eagles to take the lead? Did the defense stop the Eagles on their final scoring drive? Answer "yes" or "no". You won't. Defense played lights out, but it's fair to say they have blame. Also if you watched the press conference, he clearly did not want the defensive players thinking it's the offense at fault. He doesn't want an offense/defense rift in the locker room. It's a team. They all win or they all lose. The defense did not lose less than the offense. That's the message Matt Rhule was conveying. He went into detail. You either have to be mentally less capable or purposely spinning to not see how his answers were framed in regards to those questions.
  14. You're not really good at reading right? My point was...Rhule and Brady did NOT get who they wanted contrary to your dumbass post.
  15. This thread title is so click bait. Go watch the press conference. Context is important. Also he said, paraphrasing, the whole team was bad at points including the defense failing to get 1 more stop and that's his fault. He literally said the coaches failed, the players failed. Blame all around. I agree. A lot of blame to go around. The defense played amazing but they did not get 1 more stop. Rhule isn't wrong. We were ahead with 2 mins left and the defense failed there. Again no unit can say there is no blame on them.
  16. They wanted Stafford. You didn't mention him in your post. We offered up the #8 overall pick for him. Why didn't you mention him? Oh, it doesn't fit your narrative you are trying to paint the coaches.
  17. From what we've seen so far, Tepper doesn't interfere in football. "Tepper wants Watson and will trade away the team for him". "Tepper wants Justin Fields". I've seen Tepper wanting and demanding alot of things in but not getting any of them. I call bs on these articles and I'll believe it when I see it. Tepper isn't forcing the staff to do anything. More likely, Rhule or Fitt is fired before he forces a player on them.
  18. Most of the Huddle are bunch of morons who should pool their money and buy their own team. They can call it the 2008 Lions. Or the pre-Stefanski Browns. People here literally asking to trade bad for worse and then bitching when they get what they want. News flash y'all - the oline ain't salvageable this year. It will hold us all back. Also, the front office is aware the oline is a dumpster fire. They said so themselves. Y'all can freak out if they ignore the oline with the next draft. Anything short of that is premature.
  19. I think what needs to happen is 2022 fix the oline with the draft and FA. 2023 go all in on a QB. Defense needs some depth, I'm not going to say it's set, but it's certainly damn good enough if the offense is working. With a better offense, we could have won last week and this week. The defense has been very good to great in 3 of 4 games this year.
  20. Overall, our defense was not the problem in this game. At all. Multiple defensive turnovers, got a safety, though a TD would have been nice. They had 273 total yards. This should have been an easy win with this defense, but it's hard on a defense to constantly be defending short fields because the offense keeps handing the ball right back. The offense was just garbage after the 1st quarter and there is only so much the defense can do.
