This works. He pretty much said what most of us here are saying. Not ideal. Out of necessity.
-
I think there is a clear leader at this point and I don't think who is on the field matters all that much in regards to that.
-
He has thrown 10 interceptions in the last 6 games. Irregardless of other issues on the offense, that is not starter quality. No one has a perfect situation in this league. Stafford is a great example of a QB in a dumpster fire situation which didn't translate into him making constant poor decisions. Matt Ryan is another example for many years of his time in Atlanta. Sam Darnold is a bad QB. If you need a perfect situation for the QB to look average, the QB is mediocre at best. Feel free to keep your head in the sand though, idc.

How does this Cb situation play out going foward?

Just for the record, I think we will try to keep both -- and I think it's doable without sacrificing a must sign like Reddick or (potentially) Newton. -

We don't have Gilmore next year. Horn and Henderson are unproven. -

We rotate cbs constantly. That's how our secondary is so fast. Also curious how many of you saying don't pay Djax said the same thing about Bradberry. -
Legit question. Do some of y'all legit think we're gonna run 2 QB long term? Do some of y'all think we should sit Cam until he's up to speed? Just not sure how much of this 2 QB system talk is just theorizing or what. Just curious especially folks bashing the coaching what they think we should be doing instead. I know I don't like relegating Cam to Taysom Hill duty, but I understand it.
-
Pretty sure this is out of necessity. It's pretty unprecedented to bring in a starting QB 9 weeks into the season. It's just impossible for Cam to get totally up to speed. I could see him full time starter after the bye. His skill set is just too good to have him sit for weeks.

This Cam changes everything. It feels like the circle of life.

This. If you are inside the 5 with Cam as your QB, QB power or RO is almost guaranteed touchdowns. Why would you throw there? In those short yardage situations, he's gonna rack up on the ground. And last I check they're still worth 6 pts. Anyway, Cam is going to have an off passing TD/int ratio simply because he's cannibalizing some of those TD's in the air because of what he can do with his legs. Either way, if his stats are similar to NE last year, he's still an upgrade over Darnold by far. -
lol @ Steve Smith being on Cameo. I know there are some legit superstars up there, but it's mostly B-list and washed up celebs trying to make a few bucks. I means Steve Smith does have a real job and I can't imagine he makes that much from Cameo to be worth it.

I agree about Rhule and the QB. Though, with a just competent QB, we would be in better position for the playoffs. If Sam was just a little better, we'd be 7-3 right now at least. That said, a great defense and okay QB will get you to the playoffs, but you MUST have a great QB if you want a Lombardi. Without a great QB, the best you can is luck yourself into a SB win. (See Foles, Manning.)
-
I think overtaking the Bucs is a longshot but not impossible. Honestly, even making the playoffs the math is tight, but absolutely possible. It's certainly a nice feeling right now, though 1 loss changes everything. One week at a time baby.
-
We made a positive change at the most important position in football. How is the new 1-0 WFT different from the old 2-7 WFT from pre Bucs win? I don't think our situations are comparable.

A couple in interesting Cam things from nfl.com

So no comment from anyone here on how they are hoping to roll with Darnold next year if Cam doesn't play light out? Cam is a one year deal because of how much is owed Sam next year. Cam would have to force their hand with his on field play basically, according to the article. -
With Sam, when the defense got a turnover, I'd yell at the screen that they better take it all the way because that's the only way we can get a TD.
-
Cam would legit wear that. In fact, I think he has!

She's also the one who asked if Sam's injury is fake. She's not afraid of stirring the pot or asking controversial questions.
-
I told my wife we play the Washington Football Team next week and she didn't believe they were called the Football Team. She asked what is their mascot, and I said a football, because I have no clue.

Idk with a 5th year option situation that is already fully guaranteed. Usually you would add years to the contract, making it $18 million for year 1 and $0 for years 2 and 3 (or any non-guaranteed money like Taysom Hill), then make some amount into bonus money which can then be spread out over the next 3 years. But with it being a 5th year option, I don't know if it can be manipulated the same way.
-
Voidable years like we did when we signed Reddick. Reddick's on a two year deal but next year is voidable. In other words, part of his salary this year doesn't hit the cap till next year. I'd imagine Sam would have to agree to that. All sorts of accounting magic can be done. Darnolds cap hit is as inconsequential as the FO wants it to be. Personally I'd eat the cap this year and if we are going to kick anything down the road, do so with players actually on the roster.
-
Idk what to think. Thought he was great last year. Thought his issues this year was due to his injury. I guess the new guy is doing good enough.
-
You aren't this level headed when people are all in on burn the whole thing down and fire everybody. The optimists have every right to enjoy good times the way you enjoy failure.
-
We'll resign everyone we want to resign if we can get the prices we want. CMC will be restructured, Shaq, Moton, Robby, whoever as needed to make the room we need. I'm sold on the cap is a myth and this FO will make the space they need and keep who they want to keep. It probably won't be everyone, but I'd bet it's more than you'd expect.
