Recreational weed is legal in VA and will be up and running soon. How far do South Carolinians have to travel for legal weed? This fact alone makes NC superior.

Y'all know he was a safety right? https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jeremy-chinn/32004348-4965-0621-179b-1e6fa9b75e74 Also.. —Ideal size (6'3", 221 lbs) to cover tight ends in the NFL; could play some linebacker. —Comes from a two-high safety defense with experience playing both deep and box safety. —Versatility to play both safety positions and slot corner; showed exceptional feet and cover ability at the Senior Bowl. —Comes down hill like a linebacker with the speed of a corner; doesn't miss tackles in space. —Can click-and-close to break up passes and make tackles. Dude's a hybrid, but safety is what he primarily played in college. I'm not surprised that coaches want a safety to play safety. I get he was great as a LB and constantly made splash plays, but I thought he was at LB out of necessity. I don't think that was ever the plan long term. Not my impression anyway.

Toxicity towards Sam since day 1 is deserved, especially so far in hindsight. Personally, I don't think Darnold is a good QB and the only way he can get us to a winning record, is with a roster that can baby him - a lot of handoffs to a healthy CMC and checkdowns. A control the game type of offense with a stout defense that rarely plays from behind. I don't think there are many teams, or many coaches, in the NFL that can provide an environment where Sam could "succeed".

Does Mecklenburg county not have a grant program for arts/culture/recreation? Here in Wake county, a portion of hotel occupancy taxes and prepared food tax is set aside to incentivize these sorts of projects. If the Mudcats want to upgrade their stadium or the Hurricanes want a new arena, Wake County has a fund they can draw from to bankroll that sort of things if the county finds a benefit in doing so for whatever reason. Nobody's taxes gets raised and locals don't pay for it, unless you happen to stay in a hotel here often and eat out constantly.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. Losing with Rivera doesn't mean winning. It's not opposite world. a 10-7 record with Rhule is better than a 7-10 record with Rivera. I have no idea what "winning with Rhule" meant to the person I originally quoted But I took it to mean 0-17 with Rivera is better than 17-0 with Rhule, which, as a Panthers fan, idgaf who the coach is if we are winning games.

That's dumb af, imo.

Owners (or CEO's) are always involved in big decisions, even if it's out of their realm of expertise. You may have a CEO whose head of a dept store company, whose specialty is retail operations, but he will be involved in major real estate acquisitions as well, even though he really doesn't know much on the subject. Here's another example. I'm going to upgrade my company's fleet of work trucks. Before I drop 300 grand on vehicles, I'm going to clear it with the owner, who has never changed the oil on his vehicle once in his life. And if he doesn't like Ford, we won't be buying F250's. Or maybe he feels we need F350's or maybe F150's, etc. At any rate, his opinion will be involved in the decision, and he'll have final decision. He may leave that decision broad for others to decide the fine details, but he'll have some sort of input into it.

Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
None of the tackles in this class are "generational". They're fine. But not so great that we aren't going to see another one that great for a decade or more. I also highly doubt that multiple tackles this year would be generational, considering generational means once in a generation. Said another way every tackle in this class can be found again next year, or last year, or the following year, just with different names and faces. -
No doubt, and they should have seen it coming, particularly with Darnold. But this team will be a bottom dweller until we luck into a QB. Personally, I had no issue with tearing down the defense and rebuilding it, because frankly that entire side of the ball has probably been on the team since the 90's. I mean our defense was old, really old. Imo, until we find a QB, nothing else matters. Do we need to reset the coach and/or GM to find a QB? Maybe if they keep being dumber than bricks when it comes to that position. The fact Baker Mayfield isn't on our roster right now is promising though. (The bar for this crew is set pretty low at this point)

We haven't had a QB on the roster the past 3 years....

As it should be, generally speaking.

Same. This was news to me. Damnit I'm 5 minutes behind! FML.

Athletic interesting take on Rhule and Fitterer on QBs
Luciu5 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on Fitt's Russell Wilson story, we could be going Ridder. -
Some of y'all aren't very good at even having an opinion. Either that, or some of y'all just like being angry at everything all the time? I don't get why do we as society have to find outrage in everything. I bet it is the same people that said we would have no cap this offseason. Maybe some people just enjoy being wrong all the time? Idk. I don't get it.

Person asks about GM / Head Coach "alignment"
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule wanted to trade down and acquire more picks. Hurney wanted to stay put. Herbert wasn't really part of the original rumor directly from what I recall. -
Nah. LT is probably the most important guy on the oline (center is very key though), but almost as important as the QB? No single player is even close to the importance of the QB. You can scheme around a poor LT, but you aren't winning with a poor QB. You can win a SB with an average LT. It's very difficult to win a SB with an average QB and forget about a poor one.
-
Just in general, way WAY WAY WAYmore clip board holders in the other group. The one outside the top 10. QB with a high pick is a big risk; like only 20% actually work out. After that? Those chances rapidly decrease to infinitesimal.
-
Yeah, but he has a ring. He's cemented himself as one of the best, if not the best in the league. Potential HoF receiver. He might see it's time to make sure his great, great, great, grandkids are set for life.
-
Isn't Josh Rosen out of the league at this point? He was a different level of bad. Is Chicago's new coach going to dump Fields? Probably not. I'd say if whoever we draft, if we end up with the #1 overall pick next year, we will draft another QB. I think it's more about draft position than anything else.
-
I'm cool with signing Jimmy G for cheap. I don't think he will be cheap enough though. I don't know every teams cap situation, but I'd could see him getting $10-$15M/y on the open market and I'm not sure if we'd pay that with Darnold literally sucking cap space.

Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably not. We weren't part of any of the final considerations, but neither were a number of other teams. Only difference between us and indy, or philly, was that we got far enough along with mutual interest to get an interview. Watson's interest here was most likely due to location, which became obsolete once Atlanta was an option; because that was the real location of his interest. -
Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
We weren't in the final 2. We aren't really part of this story. This really focuses on a chapter that didn't include us. This chapter begins once us and Cleveland are eliminated. I think you are overthinking it. -
It's either this or Fitt doesn't want to commit to personnel for a particular scheme which may change dramatically with a different coaching staff.
