You can't control who you play. What you are asking though is pretty much impossible. You would also have to take 3 most dominant games out from all the other teams to do a ranking. Were those 3 games our best defensive performances though? I'm not certain on that either. We did have some good defensive games against the Eagles, Falcons, Cardinals, and Saints(2nd game) as well (when just looking at the score...I'm not diving that deep here).

Cleveland's run preferences vs our defense's strengths and weaknesses
Luciu5 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
You are misremembering. Their RB was held to 45 yards. The QB had less than 4 yards per carry, which is awful for a QB. Hurts only had 30 yards on the ground. The biggest thing with him was at the goal line. And if I'm remembering right, both of his touchdowns on the ground, he was gifted with short fields. Like really short starting on our 20 fields. With a different QB, we would have dominated that game. I mean seriously, we gave away the ball 3 times and they only put up 21 points. TLDR stuff below. I don't blame anyone if you stop reading here because I'm just venting now. I tell you, Darnold was the biggest mistake. Just looking back at the season, and specifically Darnold's performances, we would have been 7-1 going into November with just a little bit better of a QB. Last season was frustrating. The huddle doesn't blame QB play as much as it should, imho. Our defense is fine and I think most people here are morons for not understanding that. They aren't #2 but they aren't bottom of the league either. Sam single-handedly lost us games against the Eagles, Vikings, Giants, and Patriots. Just average QB play would have had us 9-8 last year. I mean how do you get two defensive TD's and STILL lose??? Then Cam came home and was mediocre at best. We were not good enough to compete with the SB contenders, but damn all the wildcard teams could have been beaten. It would have been the step in the right direction that this fanbase needed to see. But those choose muthafuggin Sam Darnold. -
You stop Chubb by going up 2 touchdowns.

Our run D was boom or bust. These stats don't show the number of explosive runs. We had a lots of tackles for a loss as well that balanced it out somewhat. The thing is, when we needed boom our run D would bust. Basically, looks okay on paper, but really inconsistent. Really solid early game and would fall apart in the 3rd qtr. You can speculate on the who's and why's, but consistency was the issue. I honestly feel a good offense will fix our defense. If we have league average offense, we will legit have a top 10 defense. Not just on paper (or in select stats*). -
Tepper made a comment at one point about the Steelers and listed different HOF'ers. He then pointed out that the Steelers hadn't retired any of their numbers, and how you can't really retire numbers in the NFL because there just aren't enough to be doing that very often at all.

Tanking is for losers. Just look at your post. It just screams loser. It sounds like a loser wrote it. Anyway, which teams tanked and became Super Bowl contenders because of it? I honestly don't know, but off the top of my head I can't think of any that purposely tanked for a year and came out significantly better for it. Maybe that's how the Bucs, Chiefs, Packers, Bills, Patriots, Steelers are/were always in the conversation as Super Bowl contenders over the last decade? Because they tanked for a year and look at them now. Idk. You tell me.

Is this guy clairvoyant? Omg, that's some incredible luck.

8th best!!! Idk. But it's true. No idea how. Basically a situation where a stat doesn't match the visual test.
-
Yes it can. Unless you consider Robbie Anderson someone of significance. It doesn't matter though. Be amazed by the cap next off season. Again. Just like the past 2 or 3 off seasons when "omg we can't sign anybody and we have to cut the whole team, oh mer gerd!" I just don't get how many off seasons have to go by where we sign or resign key players, acquire FA's and don't have to burn the roster to the ground for people to understand, at the very least, that managing the cap is more complex than it appears on paper, and to stop assuming there is no money. How many times do the 'we have no cap space' people have to be wrong before they decide to shut up and stop being wrong? Idk and also idgaf. I said what I said and y'all can cry and clutch your pearls over cap space if thats how you get off. Can lead a blind horse to water and all that.

That is rushing yards. I'm not sure if I'm confused by your question or if you were confused about my response. 2021 Panthers were.... 17th ranked defense for rushing yards allowed 8th ranked defense for yards per carry
-
17th - yards allowed 8th - YPC

I'm exaggerating obviously. You can't be a complete idiot with the cap. The entire team can't be paid 50M a year. This team can easily afford $35M/year for a QB though without cutting anyone of significance from this team.
-
$70M????? wtf? If Baker has a pro bowl level season, we will absolutely sign him long term. Undoubtedly. Those of you with cap concerns, get over it. The cap is a myth. This has been shown over and over again. Don't worry about cap space people.

It's Twitter. He didn't have to respond at all. You think he'd be cut or something if he ignored that tweet? I agree he wasnt going to be negative about Rhule at all, but still the idea that he has to stand up for his meal ticket is really kinda lame.

I don't know a single person that doesn't have Prime.

If that makes you feel better about me laughing at you. Either way, you still sound pathetic coming in a thread being a hypocrite. But you do you man. I just think it's funny.

I haven't watched yet. I won't be able to later today. So with that out of the way... Running the ball is crucial. Having a deep ball is crucial as well. If you don't have a deep ball, they will crowd the box. The defense has to be scared of getting beat deep. If you can't run the ball, they'll play cover 4 and shut you down over the top, blanket your receivers and blitz every down. They have to be scared of you gashing them on the ground. You have to make the defense pay both ways. You light them up in the air until they take it away. Then you run it down their throats. Football is a lot of rock paper scissors, like the way you use a screen pass to beat a blitz. Anyway, you can't play rock paper scissors if you only bring paper and scissors to the game.

If you don't like em don't click on them? Ya know, I could prolly do this all day.

Not sure if irony is the right word or hypocrisy.

After 4 games, PJ will go to the practice squad and it will be Baker and Darnold. Until then, we have Eason on the practice squad. I imagine Eason gets cut to move PJ over, though I think Eason could possibly be better than PJ. Either way, in a few weeks Darnold will be the backup. I don't think there is a better option than Darnold available. Anyone brought in would be at a disadvantage to Darnold simply because he knows the playbook and has been in the system now for several months.

Does anyone else think we could win the South?
Luciu5 replied to Stuart Smith's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's possible. Pretty much what coffee said. -
wtf are you smoking? and can you share?

We lose to the Lions? Personally, I think if we're going to lose the lions, we're going to lose a lot of those you listed as wins too.
