  1. I had posted this previously in another thread too. If Chicago does something stupid and Fields somehow ends up in Atlanta, it's curtains for the NFC South with Belichick. He brings McDaniels back, they have a RB/TE-focused offense with actual threats at both positions plus QB, let alone at receiver. Fields was putting up gaudy, multi-TD numbers this year with overall skill position talent that's not as good as Atlanta's. Oh, and the NFL and media types will foam at the mouth for a storyline of him winning a SB in Atlanta...a team that's been in a tailspin ever since 28-3 (and probably his best ring). Bright side--maybe Tepper gets some act-right and brings in Harbaugh. Can't let Arthur Blank outdo him, right?
  2. Anyone who thinks Belichick to the Falcons isn't a nightmare for Carolina is coping. Stop the cope. Copium is bad for the brain. Sorry, just wanted to have a turn at using "cope" and all of its derivatives!
  3. Totally agree. I think the mixed feelings on the Huddle is that a) he's a great Panther and b) concern that he's Brandon Beane. Point A is nice sentimentality but no reason to influence a choice. Point B is understandable but nothing we should worry about. Worrying about losing Dan b/c he might be Beane is like not wanting to move on from Bryce b/c he might become Brees elsewhere...it shouldn't factor into the decision even though it could be true.
  4. This is easy. We should all feel awful about it. Morgan has done nothing to justify a shot. Yes, he is guilty by association.
  5. Sooo he's like nearly every other hiring manager in the Western world...we see how that often works out btw.
  6. Even then it'll be fool's gold and a matter of time before it falls apart. Fitt was the allegedly the right choice and so was Rhule and so was Frank.
  7. Agree, which is why I've been harping on the franchise itself rather than just Bryce. He's the worst #1 pick QB since maybe Couch, but Carolina as a franchise is the worst structurally flawed franchise in all of sports, and maybe one of the worst (if not THE worst) of all time. We've had a handful of good seasons over the years but that's like a grain of rice staving off starvation. It was always going to collapse. Now it has.
  8. Just wait until Houston wins the Super Bowl this year. Baltimore is the only team in their way.
  9. Doesn't matter. Any choice made will be the wrong one. The fact that Morgan is even in the conversation confirms this.
  10. Panthers totally got it wrong from top to bottom. I'm on record that the whole franchise should be gutted including the foundation and started over again including rebranding. Also, it'll be a good day when the word "cope" (and its various forms like coping, copium etc) disappears from this forum. After all, we're fans of a franchise that would be relegated in other sports. We have a farm club that doesn't belong with the other 31 and are in denial. So we're all "copers" one way or another.
  11. So much wishcasting here to finally be "done" with Alabama. Will Alabama stay the same? Maybe. Maybe not. DeBoer is more likely to be Lincoln Riley post-Stoops and Ryan Day post-Meyer. In other words, Alabama will still very likely be in the annual NC conversations.
  12. And which one is based on the openings? Probably only Atlanta, which really is a QB away from being scary. Nightmare scenario is Fields comes available and Atlanta grabs him somehow. That offense could actually be scary with Bijan and London along with Fields and whoever they draft this year (probably offense again in WR-heavy draft). Plus, Pitts is way better than Kmet.
  13. This process is too overcomplicated. Football is a simple game. Get the biggest players who run the fastest, hit the hardest, and throw the farthest. Focus on people with that philosophy, not analytics which arguably only works for baseball if that.
  14. They went way too far with the Oilers throwbacks this year...and wearing against Houston no less.
  15. They didn't move on from winning. They moved on because they're the 49ers and expected to be great with or without him. He's a distant memory for them btw, because they're the 49ers.
  16. Like I said in the Penix thread, I hope this happens. In fact, I hope he's 7'10 and can throw the rock 110 yds while sitting and run a sub-4 40. We'll still be 2-15 because that's what we do. The franchise has a structural failure since the beginning when it comes to QBs and continuing to churn QBs while not fixing that failure is only going give us different versions of ineptitude. It might be entertaining ineptitude sometimes, but it's still ineptitude. Demo this franchise and pull up the cracked, crooked foundation while you're at it. Start all over again. Change the branding and logo. Everything.
  17. And they were trying run Caserio out of town less than 12 months ago.
  18. "Consistent winner again"? I thought we were still looking for the first consecutive winning seasons?
  19. Other than precision blue colored glasses, why does this keep being a thing on the Huddle? Is it hope that he's Brandon Beane? We have no evidence that Morgan is any good and plenty of circumstantial evidence that he's atrocious. I say they give him and every single front office person an expedited exit out of the building and mail them their stuff later. Then they should gut and renovate the offices that they sat in, meeting rooms they used, and even any break rooms to get the stench out. Replace the toilets while they're at it with some that don't recycle the poo that they drop in them into the vent system that clearly has been inhaled and infected everyone's brain.
  20. I mean, it didn't "get them fired". They lack of attention to it did--or at least helped.
