Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn

I cant believe how many people are disappointed by this. It was pretty clear they didnt care for Fields. They acted like they did a bit to try to drum up value for a trade back. Which they obviously didnt get but I would assume tried since they used all their time. That should give you an idea of what the demand is for Fields. -
One thing you've got to remember is the panthers scout team and Fitterer have a lot more access and information than we do as fans. Just because so many fans see Fields as a sure thing apparently doesnt mean they do from their scouting. I'm sure if they scouted him and all thought he was a surefire star then they would for sure be drafting him at 8 if he was there.

Patriots have talked to the Panthers about a draft day trade
Tr3ach replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This definitely makes it look like the Fields interest was most likely a smokescreen to drum up trade value, because if the Pat's trade up, that's who they're taking. -
I would say if he doesn't pan out losing a future 2nd is a pretty low risk high reward gamble either way, and it sounds like you want him to fail anyways. You can not like a move and still hope for the best. So many people would rather be proven right at the teams expense than proven wrong it seems.

I was talking about the comments in the 2nd half of the post complaining about people defending him and apparently that meant wanting "to gay sex" him...

Why are so many people looking to bash the 23 year old qb we just traded for before he even suits up? It makes no sense to me. Even if you expect the worst, why not hope for the best?

Bucky Brooks won't be sucked into Mac's meteoric rise
Tr3ach replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not in the way that you mean nesscesarily but Burrows was definitely a rising player. He wasn't a consensus top pick until his last year in college where he was surrounded with amazing skill position players. His arm strength and mobility was always there but before his transfer to LSU and the amazing supporting cast he was possibly not even considered a day 2 pick, much less the first pick. Again I'm not sure about Mac Jones at all. I just dont really like the surrounding cast argument as much. -

I'm not sure how I feel about Mac Jones, but couldnt all of this have been said about Burrows last season as well? -
It is 100% true. Go back and look at some of their scouting reports online. I went back and checked them to make sure before I mentioned them.

That's simply not true. Making quick decisions or reading defense has nothing to do with race. I can remember a qb who got hammered for it a few years ago. Josh Allen. Another more recent one was Justin Herbert. It is only tied to race if you make it that way.

Fields' main concerns arent going to show up in scripted workouts. I think everyone expected him to look really good in workouts. His concerns are fast decision making and making quick reads.

Cam was great, when he was great. I dont think any realistic fan thought his game was going to age well. He needed to run and be mobile to play at his best, enter the ankle injuries. He relied on his deep ball and velocity while showing bad throwing motion from time to time which made him use his shoulder more and his lower body less. Enter shoulder injuries. I'm not sure how anyone didnt see the rapid aging of Cam coming years ago. Then factor in the oline he played with and the situation was always clear.

One of the biggest problems is if we trade three first rounders how do we fill the rest of the roster holes ie o-line and cb? Sure they will have later picks but those are nowhere near guaranteed and also after this season Watson's contract is huge so we will be cap strapped as well when it comes to bringing in free agents. All that said I'm 50/50 on the trade, they have to have a really good plan of how they are going to fix the rest of the roster if they do it because it definitely limits the options.
