  1. The arm strength arguments are severely overrated. There were 8 completions of 60 air yards or more combined in the entire nfl last season. 4 of the 8 came from all time great qbs such as pj walker, ryan tannehill, sam howell, and the infamously strong armed Terry Bridgewater. Kyle Boller, Jamarcus Russell, all time strong arms as prospects. Let us also not forget that the potential future hall of gamer Baker Mayfield has the record for longest pass in the air in the NFL. Mahomes wasnt in the top 15 longest passes last year, but the panthers had two, PJ Walker #1 and Sammy D at 14.
  2. Basically what you said is exactly how I feel about Stroud. Stroud is clearly the higher floor safer pick, Young has a higher ceiling and lower floor imo.
  3. To be fair, what do they gain by saying anything is definitive. All you do is lose leverage and honestly they dont owe anything to us as fans and it could just potentially hurt things and help nothing. He said he hasnt had a full conversation with Frank yet but it was pretty clear which way he was leaning. People can keep arguing semantics that maybe theyre only 90% sure which way theyre leaning because obviously there are 9 days to go and technically anything could change, but he made it pretty clear they are strongly leaning a direction.
  4. The comfirmation bias in this place has gotten crazy. If theyre saying the player i want, then they obviously know what they're talking about. If theyre saying the player I dont want then they obviously dont know what theyre talking about and its all smoke screen.
  5. Top prospects skip them all the time actually. Once again for the people who refuse to listen. The combine is mostly for teams to network and for the fans. Nfl teams do not use the combine to decide who to draft. All they do is check to see if the performance lines up with what they saw on tape. Thats pretty much it, confirmation of positives and negatives. Besides interviews combines and pro days arent where they decide if a player can run or throw and they should draft them or not.
  6. Ok first off its most likely not going to help taking it multiple times. Second off lets compare it to practicing for the 40 yard dash for example. First off there is a physical genetic limitation to how fast you can run regardless of how much you train for it. Second, if you run a 4.25 at the nfl combine and you practiced for the 40 since high school, guess what? You're still fast. Thats all that really matters.
  7. The people who want to discount him will use it to discount him. Discount any positive and constantly talk about his size. Anything positive is a smokescreen and if hes the pick its because Tepper made the pick. Same ol song and dance, I don't think im forgetting anything.
  8. Im not sure thats exactly how it works. There are definitely limitations to how fast someone can process things regardless of doing the test multiple times. Im fairly sure its randomized and the examples ive heard were things like 5 shapes flash up and one is different in some way and how many tenths of a second it takes you to recognize the different one. Its almost a measure of impulse. I know it takes a specific computer setup and network to make sure there is 0 latency to measure the tenths of a seconds or even less accurately.
  9. Possibly but i disagree slightly. Chark was a 1 year deal so he is not any kind of long term solution and Thielen and Hurst are older vets who are known to be smart players and could be seen as coaches on the field to younger players. Kind of like Dalton will be for our rookie qb except more on the field will be expected from Thielen and Hurst. All that said I think the fact we had Tre Flowers in for a workout the other day and haven't signed any CBs and Evero's scheme relies heavily on the secondary makes me feel like CB is pretty high on their potential priorities.
  10. Throwing a pretty ball is definitely a positive for qbs, but far from the #1 trait. Heck, some of the strongest armed prettiest ball throwing prospects have been the biggest busts in recent memory.
  11. I think Young has a much higher ceiling while Stroud has a much higher floor.
  12. They are blaming it on Tepper because they are refusing to admit to themselves that actual football people might think Young is a better prospect than Stroud because they dont want to be wrong.
  13. I think a lot of lying is put out there but im not sure of the reasoning. You think if we take Young and Houston liked Stroud but now that they heard reports that hes not coachable, they will just throw away all their interviews and research becsuse of an anonymous media report? I dont think thats whats going on at all. I think its just with 24/7 sports media coversge there has to be something to talk about at all times. Some of it may end up being legit, some may not.
  14. Yea, i mean Fitterer and Morgan are over player acquisition now and Suleiman does the financials. What role did he have anymore.
  15. The coaches and scouts dont listen to the media at all to make their decisions. This is just for the fans and views unless teams are giving them the info to begin with
  16. Statistically smaller qbs take less sacks.
  17. At the combine Young weighed 204 and Stroud weighed 214 at 6'3. Apparently those 10lbs make all the difference in if you get hurt when you get sacked or not. Even if you say thats padded weight by Young there isnt this huge weight difference like people act. Especially if you consider the fact Stroud is so much taller which means those 10 pounds are stretched more thin. Even if you figure Young is 195, if you factor in height, Young has more mass than Stroud. 195 at 5'10 is more mass per inch of height than 6'3 214 lbs.
  18. I dont think they downplay it as much as saying that Young is elite at it. Stroud's processing can also be a little scary because outside of the GA game he wasnt nearly as good at processing if the play broke down or if his early read wasnt there. I dont think hes slow at processing, i just think its one of Young's main strengths.
  19. Lots of top prospects dont do much at the combine every year to be fair.
  20. How isnt he mobile like Mahomes? Mahomes ran in the 4.8s. A lot of offenses run mostly shotgun and regardleed it was a decision Saban made that didnt really have anything to do with Young or his capabilities. Just because he didnt take snaps under center doesnt mean it was because he couldnt or because he cant learn to. People making a very big deal out of this are people who specifically want Stroud and are trying to find another knock on Young besides his size.
  21. People were actually saying Levis hitting the ceiling was a bad thing and somehow meant specifically that he didnt have a strong arm because he was throwing it so high. Its amazing the spins people can put on thing based on what they want the results to mean.
  22. You can just say that you want the pick to be Richardson. Thats all this post adds up to. You dont draft a player becsuse of their combine performance. You are just getting caught up in the speed numbers. He was clearly behind the other qbs in the passing drills. Also on your theory about the Mccown youtube video, thats totally made up. After Mccown was hired Josh Norris said they never got to that video. At the time it was between making the AR video and a video on a different subject (i cant remember what) and they chose the other topic not knowing mccown would be gone before they got to the AR one and how they wished they had been able to make that one for views.
  23. Evero's scheme relies on great secondary play more than anything else. Im not saying edge isnt a need at all, I'm just saying i dont see it as the #2 need behing qb like most people seem to. If edge is bpa at 39 then i think they definitely take them but i think they can afford to go bpa at 39 within reason. Edge, cb, te, and wr could potentially have a really talented player there at 39 the way the draft looks on paper right now.
