Yea it makes it even crazier how season before last our oline coaching was praised (even though the fact they look good was skewed by being one dimensional with the run game), then those same oline coaches seemed terrible last season, and now new coaches seem really good again.

Mays is younger and cheaper is all I can think of. BC is going to be a free agent, even though I think he should be brought back. You can't really overvalued a player who can come in and literally play any position on the line and be solid.
-
Yea, you're right. I think you're definitely bias. Show me some routes that show his quickness and explosiveness. Getting open downfield doesn't necessarily mean you're fast, it especially doesn't mean you're quick. Lots of wide receivers get open deep in college. I'm not saying not to take him, I'm just saying so far I haven't seen a lot of quickness or full route tree ability that we always ignore. Most of the best receivers in the modern NFL aren't big bodied receivers. Of the top 15 or so receivers in the NFL this season i believe maybe 4 are above 6'1. Quickness/change of direction and route running are much more important in my opinion in the modern NFL than height. The modern NFL revolves around quick separation, timing, and tax. Plus we just drafted XL to be a big body guy.

I do see some Mike Evans in there, it's just not really the style of receiver I would really want to add with the guys we have now. All that said if he ends up really good then it doesn't matter.
-
I still just don't know about repeatedly chasing big bodied receivers. I've not watched him a whole lot yet but I don't see much quickness or explosiveness in him. I'm not even sure he has the long straight line speed a lot of these big guys have, but I could be wrong.

Aka the Lamar you get most of the time against the better defenses. -

Yea last i checked they were undefeated in the season somehow with the 9th best point differential in the NFL lol -
Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)

I think the answer is easy. Because he doesn't have to. Fans and media think they are due way more in these press conferences than they are. Everything said should pretty much be taken with a grain of salt. You're going to get 99% coach speak and then maybe an occasional slip up.
-
I think you are never going to get an answer saying a change like that is happening in a Sunday post game press conference.
-
I get what you're trying to say, but I feel like it's a little different in the NFL. There are players that, no matter how hard they work, or how bad they want it, will never be able to be a good NFL player, in fact most of them. In the NFL the lace up your boot straps mantra only really works when you have enough talent to begin with.

It's because he gets 8 or 9 sacks per season on plays where he's basically left totally unblocked. Like his sack this game.
-
The worst team in the league won't be picking 10th.
-
This exactly. These days people refuse to see reality. He has clearly improved if you watch him play. Is it good enough to be the long term qb? Probably not, but it's clearly enough to make the people who are sure he's not the qb answer start to sweat to make useless posts where they refuse to acknowledge that he has clearly improved or make topics immediately after wins to mock his stats. He has looked better. How much better? That's a matter of opinion, but anyone going out of their way to not acknowledge that is delusional.
-
I used him as an example. It's league wide.
-
Mahomes isn't even averaging 250 yards passing a game this season. Passing offense is down dramatically this season across the NFL, for lots of reasons. Defenses these days are entirely built around stopping the pass.
-
I don't think he's it either but the Giants pass defense is pretty good.
-
This is part of why I've never been sold on him. He's an above average coach but his scheme is always super soft and not aggressive.
-
I actually think besides a couple games Canales actually has some really good offensive play calls. Some duds too but he's a rookie hc. I can definitely see some good concepts.
-
To be fair the passing game across the NFL is a lot different this season. He passed for more than 80 yards as well. Passing yards per game has dropped a huge amount on average this year almost league wide. As I type this Caleb Williams is 13/26 for 104 yards and 0 tds with just a couple minutes left in the game.

Yea i happened to see that too. I couldn't help but comment the whole same record thing.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Tr3ach replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's only 15m guaranteed so most likely the contract is structured in a way where it basically is a 2 year deal. -
He's getting activated today, but they wouldn't say if he will play Sunday or not.
