I was talking about the comments in the 2nd half of the post complaining about people defending him and apparently that meant wanting "to gay sex" him...
Why are so many people looking to bash the 23 year old qb we just traded for before he even suits up? It makes no sense to me. Even if you expect the worst, why not hope for the best?
Not in the way that you mean nesscesarily but Burrows was definitely a rising player. He wasn't a consensus top pick until his last year in college where he was surrounded with amazing skill position players. His arm strength and mobility was always there but before his transfer to LSU and the amazing supporting cast he was possibly not even considered a day 2 pick, much less the first pick. Again I'm not sure about Mac Jones at all. I just dont really like the surrounding cast argument as much.
That's simply not true. Making quick decisions or reading defense has nothing to do with race. I can remember a qb who got hammered for it a few years ago. Josh Allen. Another more recent one was Justin Herbert. It is only tied to race if you make it that way.
Fields' main concerns arent going to show up in scripted workouts. I think everyone expected him to look really good in workouts. His concerns are fast decision making and making quick reads.
I think what you're saying is backwards. To me, reaching on a QB, especially with the 8th overall pick, that the scouting team and coaches dont really like just because they need one would be the definition of reactionary.
My question is for everyone saying it's a hit job is why? What would be the benefit for the Mcnairs to do that? All it does is potentially kill his trade value and if they keep him then it hurts the teams image. It seems like a lose/lose to me.
Cam was great, when he was great. I dont think any realistic fan thought his game was going to age well. He needed to run and be mobile to play at his best, enter the ankle injuries. He relied on his deep ball and velocity while showing bad throwing motion from time to time which made him use his shoulder more and his lower body less. Enter shoulder injuries. I'm not sure how anyone didnt see the rapid aging of Cam coming years ago. Then factor in the oline he played with and the situation was always clear.
One of the biggest problems is if we trade three first rounders how do we fill the rest of the roster holes ie o-line and cb? Sure they will have later picks but those are nowhere near guaranteed and also after this season Watson's contract is huge so we will be cap strapped as well when it comes to bringing in free agents. All that said I'm 50/50 on the trade, they have to have a really good plan of how they are going to fix the rest of the roster if they do it because it definitely limits the options.
