In the initial post I said I believe in our coaching staff. I just dont like this specific mindset they may seem to have.
-
He is getting pressured on 43% of his dropbacks. We have no idea what any qb is behind that oline.
-
Hes showing emotion after the QB passed it to him on a route he quit on. He should have showed that emotion on the play and it might have worked out a bit better for us.
-
Yea that was after the awful route he ran and Darnold threw it to him before he made his "break" without realizing that apparently Anderson decided to not break at all but instead jog towards the sideline. I have no idea how he threw a temper tantrum instantly after he totally hung qb out to dry after he forced the ball to him.
-
He played a pretty bad game. He missed some throws. The interior oline allowed pressure in his face almost instantly. At one point Daley completely whiffed on his man from the guard position without there being a stunt on anything lol. Darnold definitely needs to play better but its hard to grade him much more than incomplete with the current interior of our line. On a positive note I would say Christensen looked at the worst serviceable and sometimes better than that for his first start. So that's a positive. The interior is our problem. That's a QBs nightmare.

I'm talking about his lazy routes and quitting on plays specifically. I know half of the people here are going to default to blaming the qb. Effort doesnt matter who the qb is. Effort is what Anderson isnt showing.
-
He didnt have much to say but one thing that stood out to me is he mentioned how we just try to make one more play than the opponent. I know he didnt really mean that literally but when he says it that's really what it feels like watching the game sometimes, especially this one. It seemed like we had the game fully in control and could have tried to step on their throats but instead we just focus on trying to make one more play than the opponent. I do believe in our coaching staff (besides maybe Brady) and I like the direction we are headed. That just stuck out to me.
-
If that was the case then why would he want an extension?
-
I definitely dont think it's all on him. I think hes fairly far down the list of problems. I just dont like much that I've seen out of him this season.
-
I dont think he forgot how to play. I think he got a new contract and got lazy. It's not an uncommon thing with some players.
-
That was a comeback route that last offensive snap that got picked. Did you see his "comeback" route that he ran? The only person he can blame on that play is himself. He clearly checked out.
-
Arm strength isnt one of Darnold's problems. Running lazy routes and giving up on plays plays a big part in that.
-
Has he taken his new contract and checked out? He is invisible most games, he had a touch catch on a crucial third that he dropped. He just ran a lazy route, didnt even try to make a play on the ball and then threw a temper tantrum. I've never seen a wr throw a temper tantrum because the qb tried to throw them the ball.

Of the big 5 qb prospects last draft, 3 of them were gone before our pick. That leaves two. If we had taken Jones then 95% of the people on this board (including the ones who wanted to take a qb) would have had a complete meltdown. That leaves one, the elephant in the room. No matter how you feel about Fields, the coaches and scouts obviously questioned some things because he was there for the taking and they didnt take him. Was this overall questions or scheme questions, who knows? We never will most likely. Regardless, the fact we didnt draft one of those 2 qbs that were there and signed Darnold's 5th year option the next day tells you how they felt about those qbs, Darnold, and I'm sure they looked at upcoming qbs as well. I'm pretty sure Rhule and Fitt scout and plan ahead as much as possible.
-
Yea I think it seems like we have given up more than we have because of the potential return we have gotten. They are definitely trying to win now but they are also setting up to try to win later as well. They are just making smart aggressive low risk potentially high reward moves that may help now and can definitely potentially help in the future.
-
First off I would say would say the trade is potentially paying off on the field as has been discussed ad nauseam, especially if he continues to develop and get comfortable in the system. Also now the point I'm getting at is this upcoming draft is starting to look especially poor with disappointing performances and injuries this college season. If the team wasn't sold on any of the qbs in the draft last season then this seasons has even more question Mark's and disappointment. With the up and down play of Sam Howell and Spencer Rattler I'm really glad that we have our 24 year old potential starter for the future on our roster and we got him for basically a hopefully late 2nd rounder.

It’s Official….Sam D was worth the trade.

Is this a joke? Oline giving time is exactly how deep passes happen. -
That's about what I figured.
-
I don't think it would be a letdown game at all. Especially since CMC and Horne are out. I have a feeling Dallas will be favored by more than the home 3 by Vegas.
-
Panthers were in trade talks for CJ even before Horn was injured

Totally not based on anything, and ian thomas has played ok so far but if this is true and they were talking about a deal in training camp I wonder if thats why Rhule was talking Thomas up so much. I feel like maybe he was the te they were wanting to move in the deal and maybe he was trying to increase his value a little with some hype. -
And he never missed anything before that. You're leaving that part out when you say "just since 9/20/20" you've got to tell the whole story at least
-
What are you basing that on? He wasn't a guy that got a lot of picks, especially after his first couple seasons, but he could lock a side of the field down pretty well.
-
I had noticed Darnold seemed to be audibling several plays it seemed like.
-
"Sam needs preseason reps, this coaching staff is clueless."

The second throw you're talking about, Moore and Arnold were in the exact same area. The throw was to Moore who didnt adjust to it in time and it went past him towards Arnold. There was a defender between Moore and Darnold that almost picked it off but it wasnt because the throw was that bad. It was an ad lib as Darnold was rolling out of the pocket and between him and Moore they didnt make the exact same read off the cuff. Watch it again. The pass goes just to the right of Moore and into the defender. If they would have been on the same page it would have been a great play.
