I wonder what his deal is with not wanting to run considering mobility is one of his biggest strengths. I dont believe he ran at the combine either.
-
I wasnt comparing him to Cam as far as play styles. Just their strengths and weaknesses. Cam obviously was much bigger. I would say Josh Allen definitely looked better in college than Willis. Allen had plenty of question marks coming out but not nearly as many as Willis. I'm not sure the Pickett Jimmy G comparison is accurate at all. I'm not advocating for any qb in particular. To be fair I dont think Willis is anywhere near Lamar Jackson level athletic and are we talking about Lamar vs. Jimmy g in regular season or playoffs? Depending on that the answer may be closer than you think.

Yea, he has all the traits a lot of the huddle overrates, a cannon and he runs. The negatives are he misses reads a lot, he uses his arm strength to make up for the fact he never throws with anticipation, and I would also say the fact he didnt dominate lesser competition and looked pretty bad against better competition. He is a poor mans cam right now. His strengths are similar but not as otherworldly as Cam's and his weaknesses are the same but worse. All that being said he could still be the best prospect. I honestly have no idea anymore lol. Hes definitely a scary choice though.

He has literally never made a throw with anticipation that I've seen.

Heads up. You are totally wrong. Pickett is more athletic than most of the qbs in the nfl if you want to look at numbers coming in. I already showed the comparison to Mahomes but since you insist (for reasons I can only assume) his athleticism is comparative to Dalton, I will give you the comparisons.
-
I will begin with I'm not sure how I feel about Pickett. Every qb in this class has strengths and question marks. One or two will most likely end up being good qbs, but which ones seems like anybody's guess. The thing I do find funny is how people keep randomly saying Pickett's athleticism is a liability. Here are his numbers compared to a qb most people on here think is especially athletic.

Could be, or it could be the coach with no nfl experience is learning as he gains said experience. That's usually how it works. Its unfair to blame a person for all the bad and give someone else credit for all the good when he has the same amount of input on both decisions. It's so much just single track blind hatred. Sometimes people get better as they go. Is that what's happening? Maybe, I dont know. The same as everyone that thinks they know it's not him.

A lot of the greatest qbs of all time had plenty of physical limitations. Brees and Brady for example. Neither were mobile. Neither had especially strong arms.
-
This is simply untrue. There are so many physical talent qbs who bust. Way more physical talent qbs that can make the "leap" bust than average athlete and arm strength qbs who throw with accuracy and anticipation.

None of these moves matter without our franchise QB

I agree. Minus the Cam part. That ship sailed years ago. Rhule has definitely made some mistakes but the roster has constantly been filling holes since he came. I would say at the current moment the roster on paper has the least holes its had in years and years. The main mistake I would say Rhule has made is prioritizing all holes on the roster equally regardless of position. -
Psst. Dont forget the 230 million fully guaranteed.

I strongly disagree. The Texans like our offer the most because of all of the young cheap talent we have. If the trade doesnt work out we keep that young talent. They already signed a solid RG. Use the pick we would be trading away to draft O line to solidify that. Use our early pick next year to take our qb. The team isnt in nearly as bad of shape as so many people who want to hate everything Rhule and Tepper want to make it out to be. We dont get Watson it's not the end of the world. Then we have our young pieces, more picks, and more cap.

That's only true from a fans impatient perspective. He could love option A but when there isnt really a set timeline or reason that a few extra days matter, why wouldnt you go ahead and listen to option B, C, and D as well? What is his benefit in rushing before considering all options. That doesnt mean he doesnt like one of his first options.

I basically have. I check in and skim the post topics and most of the time leave immediately because it's clear what every post is. There are usually 2 or 3 topics worth looking at with actual information and the rest are all unconstructive wastes of reading. The combine is going on now. All the NFL brass are at the same place. There are plenty of constructive things to talk about right now.

No amount of negative posts on this forum are going to get Rhule fired.

How many different posts all with the same general idea do we need. This place has turned into a sh-- show too. It used to be so nice coming here to talk panthers football and the latest news and ideas going on with the Panthers. Now its just 5-10 posts a day all saying the exact thing. what's the point.

Brady did, Brees did. Herbert ran around a 4.70 if I remember correctly. Even qbs that are faster such as mahomes, rodgers, and burrow use their feel of the pocket much more than their speed.
-
Speed and arm strength are so overrated on this forum. You can basically be a statue if you are good at sensing pressure/ where its coming, reading the defense, and getting rid of the ball fast and accurately and with anticipation. I agree with you fully that those are the skills that win consistently.

It would be an offense Cam isnt really familiar with and honestly I would say they have similar strengths (besides the fact Cam was huge) and similar weaknesses. Cam's weaknesses never improved that much over his career, his strengths were just great enough they carried him. I'm not sure what about that would make a great mentor. Cam was spectacular in his time and he is the face of the franchise but it's time to move on. I'm not sure how many ways it can be shown that he's not the player he used to be. Time is undefeated.

2023 QBs. What I have been screaming for months now
Tr3ach replied to mrcompletely11's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be fair, this time last year it was the exact same narrative. Lawrence was a potential superstar but besides that this years class looked a lot stronger. Then Howell wasnt especially impressive and Rattler did what he did and here we are.
