I think it just depends on how the draft goes. They are trying to set themselves up where they have more options to take BPA. Qb at 1 and a WR are the only HAVE TOs now in the draft I'd say even though there are definitely posistions im sure they want to draft. They will just wait and see how the board falls.

In the words of the great Moose. Chicago is where wide receivers go to die. We loved you while you were hear DJ even though you showed a lack of effort and lazy routes sometimes, you were the best receiver we've had in a long time. Unfortunately for him, a franchise qb is a lot harder to find then a good number 1/ great #2 wr.

New system needs rbs that are dual threat.

This is a weak fa class and you have to add what you can, he is big, fast, and he did have over 1000 yards and 8 tds a few years ago in jax. If he could stay healthy for us he would definitely be the best wr on our roster by a decent margin. Take that however you want.

This was my #1 wr in free agency and I couldnt believe we hadnt heard any mention about him from the team till now. After the Thielen visit i was starting to lose hope.

New head coach.

Probably Parris but i keep hoping they at least talk to Chark. I prefer him but im ok with either.

Panthers to host former Vikings WR Adam Thielen

I prefer Chark anyways even though I never really hear him mentioned. -
Do you understand there is a salary cap? The only aspect you can throw your money around with is coaching and Tepper has said as much.

You cant fill all holes on a team in one offseason. Sometimes you have to use a bandaid for a season or two.

Frank Reich has NO EXCUSES… playoffs or bust in 3 seasons
Tr3ach replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
This year i think the goal is to strive for .500 and show consistent improvement. (We never saw any improvement under the previous regime). Their goal is to get the systems and schemes in place and get as many pieces in place as they can starting with the biggest one, qb. See who fits in these schemes and who doesnt and in year two they are looking to have a huge amount of cap to fill the remaining holes and the goal year 2 will be playoffs. Thats the way i see it anyways. -
Former Panthers QB: “No doubt in my mind” they pick Bryce Young
Tr3ach replied to Cary Kollins's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he is a better improviser and playmaker when things break down. -
Who? 2 years 10m is pretty cheap for a backup qb.
-
Hes not here to start. He's here to help show the rookie starter a professional routine, diet, regimen, etc. They are trying like crazy to trade Corral. We literally had to have another qb on the roster and you really like to have a vet qb in the qb room to pair up with a rookie. Dalton wasnt signed for anything on the field really barring disaster.
-
People mad about this move dont understand football.
-
The panthers had to sign an experienced qb regardless of if they ever start or not. This doesnt make it any more likely they are going to draft AR. This was a required move for any rookie. If anything to me it makes it less likely its AR because Dalton is clearly more of a veteran backup than a bridge.

Tony Pauline: CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson
Tr3ach replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thats what coaches are for. Try to help coach out the bad habits and try to set them up in a way where the playcalling boosts their strengths. -
I strongly disagree. I wasnt for trading up this whole time honestly but keeping the 25 first and staggering our first next year and our 2nd the year after makes me feel good and the biggest positive to me is that they moved all the way to one. That makes me feel like they truly believe in one of these guys more than the rest and thats very exciting to me.
-
Exactly. I would love for them to really feel 100% on a qb and i hope they do, but if they dont, i dont agree with all the fans saying theyre tired of not drafting a qb so take one early no matter what because we need one. What if we had just taken one early no matter what the past couple drafts? We still wouldnt be set 100% at qb because none of them in the past 2 drafts have looked great. Some people will make a case for Fields but im not there yet. He could be fine in a really specialized offense.
-
Anthony Richardson says hello and hes loved and overrated by the media and the huddle based on 2 of those 3 things. Levis had good tape last season with a different OC. Its silly for people to boil everything down to race.
-
Levis went through multiple OCs and offensive systems. Young didnt and was also surrounded by 5 star prospects on offense so got more time to develop and diagnose.
-
It was because they had a terrible OC and they basically wanted to use their qb entirely as a runner at the time. Im pretty sure he was the starter at the time or at least was going to be.
-
The only qb i would say that doesnt have some red flags with proceesing speed in this draft is Young. All three of the rest of the big 4 have some concerning plays with that. All of Stroud's seem to be forgotten because of the one game at the end of the season but they are definitely there as well and thats with Stroud being my 1a or 1b.

New trade down theory coming out of League circles
Tr3ach replied to Growl's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think its only a win/win/win if Fitt knows the qb the Texans are taking and its not the one we want. I also suppose it makes a difference how much less the compensation is. It seems like it would be fairly similar though which doesnt make much sense to give up a lot to go to 2 for your 2nd choice.
