According to Legette, Panthers will draft Legette at #33
Tr3ach replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he is the pick at 33 then I definitely wont give him a complete pass on the Fitterer era because this is exactly who Fitterer would have taken. -
I think Chubba has earned the right to receive most of the carries. We need a receiving rb. Especially with what it seems like Canales likes to do. I would love to pick up Dylan Laube in the 5th or so. Great receiver and blocker.

If it somehow fell that way and we did decide to double dip, AD and Ladd would be my dream scenario. I dont see it ever falling that way and I doubt we double dip but that would still be a dream scenario.
-
Yea, I can see what some people like him for and I can see a world where he ends up being a really good player like a Metcalf light. But i see a lot more scenarios where his ceiling is a slightly faster Shenault.

Reminds me of Legette, DJ was worse, but still. Legette is an older prospect who did absolutely nothing until his 5th year of college and people still want to sell as raw.

Draft Rumors/Charlie Campbell Notes (Per r/NFL_Draft)
Tr3ach replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Burton is more than a diva. He has wr 4-5 talent but he has so many off the field concerns and I keep hearing the more people talk to his teammates and people that know him that the red flags have gotten worse and worse. I think his potential is worth a 5th or 6th round flyer and you cut him the second he does anything questionable in the slightest, but ive heard a lot of teams have taken him completely off their boards. -
Anthony Rizzuti's realistic Panthers 7-round mock draft

This is the mock that ive seen that I like the very least of them all. -

Hes also a month older than Mingo. Drafting old "raw" players was the style of the previous regime. -

It asks for a password when I try to open the downloaded pdf. -
From what ive heard listening to former gms and exectutives in interviews and podcasts the board is built pretty early. Combine and interviews are usually just used to confirm things unless big red flags appear they already have a decently set board pretty early on.

The problem is our current #1 wr and #2 wr are could very well be gone after this season. So there is a cushion, but its very thin.

Yep, all the chatter just means less and less and gets more and more inaccurate as we get closer to the draft. Look every year at qbs. As the draft gets closer every year there are qbs that supposedly are raising more and more and then when the draft gets here thats hardly ever the case.

No one is falling right now, nor rising. Thats all sports media. Team boards have been set for a while now but youre going to hear all kinds of changes reported because thats what sports media has to do. Odunze is clearly locked in at wr #3 at worst. Nabers is the one the media is actually trying to push down right now "leaking" a lot of stuff about teams having character concerns.

Matt Miller: 1st round could have 8 WR’s
Tr3ach replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldnt pay much attention to what is said about the draft right now. It seems just after the season the media is fairly accurate but as the draft gets closer and closer the media come up with their own narratives more and more about whose stock is up or down etc and it seems to get less and less accurate as the draft gets closer.- 48 replies

I could see if it if you are in hardcore win now mode because drafting a player will always be a gamble but where the panthers are I would much rather them draft multiple receivers to gamble on if they have to.

First off Diggs costs a lot more against the cap than a rookie. Second off I dont like the idea of trading draft picks for potentially the deepest posistion in the draft.

Xavier Legette and Peyton Wilson 33 and 39
Tr3ach replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hes Mingo on paper and a bit faster long speed Laviska on the field. -
Hes a bit faster Shenault imo.
-
He has the uncommon skill set of being really fast with elite quickness. Hes a good route runner. Im totally fine taking him, my one concern is he gets knocked off his routes easily.
-
Burton would be wr #4 on most boards if he didnt have character issues, but because of that some teams have allegedly taken him entirely off their boards. Hes wr from bama.

One thing to remember is a great coordinator sometimes makes a terrible head coach and vice versa. The roles are very different. I can only think of a handful of great head coaches who were known as specifically great coordinators beforehand. Steichen comes to mind. Part of the rumors have been thats why Ben Johnson keeps going back to coordinator. Not sure he can handle/ wants to handle all the other stuff that being the head coach entails.
