  1. I didnt like him as a prospect. He was my biggest fear that Morgan is fitterer. When the season starts I will cheer for him but until then I'm not going to magically act like i liked him as a prospect just because we drafted him. As a prospect I still feel exactly the same about him. As a player on the field for the Panthers I will hope always that he proves me wrong but for now this feels exactly like what Fitterer would have done the past few years.
  2. He's not 6'3. He was listed 6'3 at SC. He was 6' at the combine.
  3. RAS are almost always high when they dont do any agility drills which is the concern for him. His 10 yd split is average. i care a lot more about that than the 40 time for wr.
  4. I dont compare him to Mingo besides measurables. Hes a little older and not as tall but I compare him more to Shenault as far as player type.
  5. Hes on. 1 year deal. I dont want a receiver you have to manufacture touches for in the first round.
  6. Its like the spiderman meme. Lets draft big receivers that didnt get open in college every year. Eventually one has to not be bad right?
  7. Even Smith had him ranked as his wr #9 with much higher ranked true wr on the board still.
  8. He is the literal definition of a Panthers draft pick the past few years. Old and "raw" gadget player.
  9. I wanted him to run decent routes or get seperation.
  10. Xl did literally nothing for 4 years. At least AD had boom or bust potential with a much higher ceiling. This is exactly who Fitterer would have drafted.
  11. I feel great about that. Thats 2 more players we actually need that could fall to 33.
  12. Not who I want but I think it will be Legette or the slot cb from Michigan.
  13. My biggest problem with him is hes all speed. Hes slight of frame and isnt going to make contested catches and doesnt run great routes. Hes either screens or deep bombs. You run a 4.21 the first couple routes and then you slow down. When he slows down hes useless so you have to make sure to keep him fresh. I think hes awesome as a luxury pick, but we arent in the position to make a luxury pick.
  14. Ive seen that chart a lot of places but i dont really think it tells us anything without seeing the percentages for round 2 at least, if not more rounds. I know the hardest posistion to hit in the 2nd round or later is edge rushers. Almost all the good ones are drafted in the first. 2nd round and later edge rushers dont have a good track record at all.
  15. He also still only had him ranked as wr 10 or 11. So people acting like Smith's words praising him are gospel are still wanting the 10th or 11th best wr according to Steve at 33.
  16. Ive said before. I see a world where he turns in to a slightly limited Metcalf. I see a lot more chances he ends up being a little faster Shenault. Regardless, if we draft him I want him to be great and will cheer for him just like any player we could have drafted. Im just saying im not sold on him and he definitely isnt one of my favorite receivers pre draft.
  17. The problem with that is he played 5 years in college. If he played 5 years in college and you have no idea who the real Legette is... theres no way you take that at 33
  18. Even Steve Smith who at one point said he was a better Metcalf ended up backing off and ranking him as his wr 10 or 11.
  19. Where have you seen or heard anything about him going in the first?
  20. Same. I think there is a better chance Ladd will be there at 33 and a world where Chop is there at 33. If Ladd is there at 33 he could make it to 39. Chop definitely wont make it to 39.
  21. Thielen you expect to slow down even more this year and they are both probably gone after this season. Dan said we were drafting for the future, not just immediate needs.
  22. Give me Chop at 33, Ladd at 39, Trey Benson or Jared Wiley at 65, Malik Washington in the 4th, Khyree Jackson in the 5th, Matt Lee in the 6th, and Jalen Coker in 7th. Some of those guys wont be there and I wouldnt mind substituting one of the mid round guys for Jared Wiley or Caelen Carson. Thats just a quick off my head idea though. Still leaves some holes but we cant fill them all in one draft.
  23. I just dont see Deebo potential. Hes not as explosive as Deebo. Deebo also has more quickness and better yac skills in my opinion. I see him being closer to Shenault than Deebo. If its in the 3rd then I'm fine with it but in the 2nd i want legit receiver/s, not gadget players. In this deep of a wr class I see no way you take the older gadget player with 1 year of success in 5 years of college at 33.
  24. I like how we have a qb who can struggle with the deep ball and is better with timing routes, we have a questionable pass blocking oline, Canales said he wants the ball out in 2.6 seconds, we had no receivers who could create seperation last season, and we are expressing a lot of interest in receivers who have no quickness, can't create seperation, cant run routes, take time to get open at all, and only real potential is deep threats in Legette and Coleman. Wtf are they doing? I really just am hanging on to hope that these are all just smokescreens right now.
  25. He was in college for 5 years and did absolutely nothing until his 5th season. He's a "project" thats older than Mingo already. Old "raw" players basically never work. We should have learned that by now. That was our drafting strategy all the years Fitterer was here and it was our worst period of drafts.
