  1. I really don't understand how people are stuck on this. Burns isnt an "elite pass rusher" he is a good pass rusher and a liability against the run. NFL teams know this, thats why this offer was the most compensation we could get for the money he wanted. People are acting like other teams were offering two firsts and we just decided to take the giants offer instead. This was clearly the best offer we received.
  2. I agree, i think it was in the top 2 bad decisions in Panthers history, i felt that since the day the details were mentioned, but that was a different decision makers and the past offer has nothing to do with the current one. It was in the past.
  3. Its funny to me that the same people who were using the argument that Burns was actually good because these other teams valued him so highly are the same ones saying we should have kept him because the compensation wasnt enough. Looks like they were wrong on both parts.
  4. I agree. Media is changing their stories about what the Panthers are doing daily. Im not sold on Morgan yet but this new tight lipped office i could only see as a positive even though some fans may not like it.
  5. Overpaying him for years is the most detrimental option of them all for the panthers longterm success.
  6. Let him walk now for the comp pick. Why do we want him here 2 more years when he doesnt want to be here, isnt a "dawg" and has already talked about playing not to get hurt last season? He going to get over that and magically play hard on these 1 year franchise tags? Trade him or cut bait.
  7. He will be gone in the 20s I think. Probably early 20s.
  8. No you didnt. I said it was a really good draft to need a wr at pick 33. I didnt say anything about it being good that we didnt have our first round pick lol
  9. Thats a weird way to twist what I said.
  10. Thats not how it works though. There were lots of wide receivers last year that went much later than 33 and had huge holes compared to what we can get at 33 this year that contributed greatly to their teams last season. Puka had one of the best receiving rookie seasons in history and went in the 5th round and had plenty of holes in his game.
  11. Burns was barely ever double teamed last year unless you count a rb or te chipping as well. Brown ate up the double teams. Also Burns was shut down 1v1 vs tight ends pretty regularly. Most of his sacks seem to come when he came through literally untouched.
  12. I disagree. On paper this is one of the best and deepest wr drafts there has been. Its a perfect time to need a wr and not have a pick before 33.
  13. You can trade him for less than 2 firsts if teams agree to it. It is not a requirement.
  14. Hopefully not. Hopefully they see it as the more it looks like they want to keep him the more they might could get from other teams, but hopefully thats not just wishful thinking.
  15. Its the non exclusive tag. I dont know why people are jumping to say that means hes probably staying. I get that tag and trades arent especially common but the media doesnt seem to really know anything which is a positive sign i think. Three days ago they were talking about how they were working out a long term deal and the literal next day they were saying there werent going to be any more long term talk. Regardless of what the media say it seems fairly clear that the #1 goal is to try to trade him for a good return, that seems the priority over long term deal now I would guess.
  16. I saw that if designated june cut it would save 17m in cap if we didnt mind the dead money. Probably not worth it i dont think but maybe worth noting if they dont designate jackson as the june cut.
  17. Today it was said that they officially ended talks with Burns getting a long term deal. This is just a fairly weak class at edge, especially at 33.
  18. So far ive heard 2 rumors from the dan morgan era. They are probably going to cave and overpay burns because the cap increase and they keep talking to the big receivers that dont get seperation in the draft. I strongly disagree with both of these moves and I never liked promoting Dan. I always felt like we needed a full refresh and this is just confirming my fears.
  19. I think thats a silly argument anyways. Tua is barely 6' and both his wr are 5'10 and they have no problem putting up passing numbers. Its as silly as the old Cam has to have tall receivers so he doesnt over throw them junk. These big receivers who dont get seperation but can sometimes make contested catches are old school. Thats not what modern offenses use anymore. Thats what tight ends are for. Almost all the best passing offense utilize mostly receivers between 5'8 and 6'1 I would guess without really digging in to it.
  20. That would be such a panthers move. If we draft one of these big straight line receivers instead of just someone who can get open and create seperation without needing a lot of time then I will officially be done with Morgan because I wasnt sold on him to begin with. Dawg is attitude, it doesnt have to mean big and strong. Give me quick guys that can seperate. I dont care if theyre 5'10. I want to see how well they run routes and what their cone times are. I dont care much about the rest.
  21. I understand what youre saying but Tua is barely 6' playing with those wrs.
  22. No. They are 5'10 wr obviously. Tua is barely 6' qb 2" taller than Bryce. Saying Bryce has to have tall receivers because hes 2" shorter is as bad as the whole Cam needs tall receivers so he doesnt overthrow them.
  23. Tyreek Hill and Waddle are both 5'10. You dont have to have these big receivers any more. Quick timing routes, receivers that can get seperation and yac are the modern NFL. I hope we dont prioritize size at all with our wr selections. Ive heard weve talks to leggett multiple times and that terrifies me and I'm worried about Morgan as if is.
