10/23 Game Thread, Canes @ Blue Jackets
CanePantherHornet replied to Harbingers's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Maybe they actually knew what they were doing when they let Dougie and Ned go? Maybe Ned actually was a product of playing behind our good defense. Gonna be honest about TDA too. Overall he is not as good as Dougie, but I like what he brings to the team just a little bit more. I've been saying for years that the Hurricanes needed some attitude and toughness. HOPEFULLY he can keep his poo together. -
I said this all along but people hand wrung the whole time. Zach Wilson could be amazing if he landed in the right situation. Mac Jones was going to need an extremely niche situation. Trey Lance was going to need a spot where he could sit for a while and get polished. Justin Fields just straight up wasn't good and not worth the gamble. I don't really think that the whole QB class and prospect rating thing matters THAT much though in regards to next year. Mahomes is the best in the league but was considered a boom or bust pick like Trey Lance was this year and was supposedly in a horrible QB class. What matters most is getting a guy who fits your system and putting him in the best chance to succeed. The bad thing is that I have no fuging clue who the Panthers ideal QB would be at this point.

I don't think he's as bad as some say. It definitely wouldn't be a reclamation project. He can sling it and it would be really fun to see that with CMC, DJ, Robby, and Marshall. BUT he has a lot of problems too. If he starts getting pressured he completely melts down and starts throwing INTs. Even with the insane amount of talent around him he's just been pretty decent. He seems to be injury prone. He's got a QB guru HC and hasn't really improved under him. So yeah, I'd probably be too scared to give him a big contract, but if you're Cleveland you absolutely have to. If you don't sign him and start the carousel again, oh boy.

I never thought i'd see the day when the Hornets seemingly have their poo together more than the Panthers.

Bridgewater(2020) vs. Darnold(2021) through 6 games.

I've been left wondering what he actually does. I mean even for guys like Mike Shula and Ken Dorsey we heard stories about how Cam loved them for helping him grow as a passer. It seems like he doesn't know how to correctly utilize so many of our players. OL as an excuse only goes so far, because how many times has he bought time with his legs and no one been open? We have two speed guys and how many times has he tried to take the top off? His dink and dunk saints style poo allows teams to attack a lot more aggressively. -

It's actually pretty damning to Brady still since he was supposed to be a QB guru who created Joe Burrow. -

I think an ideal scenario is that Sam is still starter in 2022. Spend every fuging pick on offensive line and give the guy a legit chance, and if that doesn't work out, draft a rookie the next year. Even if we did have Trevor Lawrence or whoever, he'd be getting killed too. That doesn't mean I'm 100% on the Darnold bandwagon still. He's regressed in to his old habits a bit. But I think he's shown enough flashes to give him another chance, and I think it might would be the best strategic move long-term. The teams that do well with rookie QBs are the ones who put them in the best chance to succeed. Can you imagine if we get a Kyler Murray/Josh Allen/Mayfield/Mahomes type on a rookie contract and are able to do what all of those teams have been able to do? We already have a ton of talent, and on top of that being able to fill out the team with high value free agents. Wew lad. -
I never thought about it but he really does sound like porky pig. Goddamn.

Coaching staff should be on the hot seat

He's looked like that for months now. During the draft it looked like he hadn't slept in a week. -

I'm not ready to burn it to the ground yet, but after all this time, I'm left wondering what exactly does he do? I can't think of a glaringly obvious benefit of having Matt Rhule as our head coach. -
Regardless of the end, I’m proud of sam

They're not going to base that decision off one drive. We've still got 11 games to go and I would think we'll have an answer by then. -
That's it. Tepper, Sign Cam or Trade for Watson.

Current day Cam Newton would be no better than Sam Darnold. It's a tough pill to swallow but it is what it is. -
Someone please help Brian Burns

He's had this problem since day 1. It's astounding they've never fixed it. -
I think he's shown promise. His last drive brought joy and hope to my heart. He was never going to become an all-pro overnight. I suspect that by the end of the season we'll know if he's worth going forward with or not. I noticed when he was really impressive during that last drive, he had much more time to set his feet and make his reads. Best case scenario is he stays on the right track and we get to draft/acquire offensive linemen instead of chasing a QB.

This dude has been the most reactionary weenie for like a decade now. I can remember him making threads in 2015 doom and glooming.

meh. Unless we finish with a record the same or worse than last year, I'm not that worried. This team is still rebuilding and some people have way too high expectations. With the talent we have we should be in the 8-9/9-8 range. I have legitimate concerns about Joe Brady though. and Sam Darnold has a lot to prove still yet.

I can't blame the defense. They've looked so bad late because they've been on the field all game long. I would like to know where the fug our pass rush has been though. Sam Darnold was stellar on that last drive. He put the team on his back right there. -

When your entire offense looks this bad on every single level, it has to fall on the shoulder of the man who is coordinating it. -

Either bench or stop throwing to Anderson. Lets see what Marshall can do. -
At what point do they just have to bench Brady?
CanePantherHornet replied to onmyown's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think its ALL on him. No one is pulling their weight on offense besides DJ and Hubbard.
