DJ Moore should not have been penalized for helmet removal
Catsfan69 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I put the definition of field from the rulebook on the previous page. According to that the broken yellow line defines the field. And that subsequently the solid yellow line defines the coaches/players box. Just don't take your helmet off and it can never be called. -

I agree. It should be a penalty and it's stupid. -

@JawnyBlaze I know for a fact you can be flagged for illegal participation if you don't get back to your coach's box if you are subbed for. Just making it to the sideline isn't enough not to get 12 men on field. -

This is probably the interpretation being used. The field is any area outside the coaches box. Unless you are reading it different than me. The broken yellow line is still part of the field The playing field will be rimmed by a solid white border six feet wide along the end lines and sidelines. There will be an additional broken yellow line nine feet farther outside this border along each sideline in the non-bench areas, and such broken line will be continued at an angle from each 25-yard line and pass behind the bench area (all benches a minimum of 30 feet back from the sidelines) at a distance of six feet. In each end zone, this broken yellow line is six feet from the solid white border. These yellow broken lines are to be eight inches wide and two feet long with a space of one foot between them. In addition, within each bench area, a solid yellow line six feet behind the solid border will delineate a special area for coaches, behind which all players, except one player who is charting the game, must remain. Furthermore, a broken white line four inches wide and four feet long with a space of two- foot intervals will be marked three feet inside the nine-foot restriction line on the sideline, extending to meet the existing yellow broken line six feet behind both end zones and at each television box outside the bench area. -

I'm telling you that field of play for the purpose of celebrating is extended to any area outside of your coaches box. I've seen it thrown at all three levels hs,college and pro. I don't have to agree with it but these rules have existed for a long time. It was a stupid move on his part. -

I tell people this at my own job all the damn time. There's always someone somewhere that is looking to trip us up and complain to our customer. We can't give them an excuse to. I don't care how trivial it seems. -

Nobody took their helmets off to celebrate in the 60s,70s,80s,. It wasn't until 97 that they had to put the rule in. Taking off your helmet is a purely look at me move in its nature. There's no reason to do it. -

Never seen them take the helmet off for the Lambeau leap -

Some leagues (not saying NFL technically) Define field of play as any area not within the coaches box of your sideline. We have seen unsportsmanlike thrown for players running down the sideline to celebrate a teammates touchdown in the NFL during a playoff game -

Well there's also the part of the rule that says excessive. So helmet off almost in the stands then back on the field of play. I've seen worse calls for Celebration. He should have never done it. We don't have to like the call. The flag probably should have stayed in it's pocket but DJ shouldn't have put us in that position. Don't give the refs a chance to throw the flag. -
He's got a legit shot at 2000 yds of offense this season. He's already over 900yds Of course I mentioned that he had 4000 yds in 2 years for us but all his detractors said that was a long time ago and he's not that guy anymore.

Are We Really Not Going To Talk About This?!

It happens a lot in crucial situations. The guy isn't as good as people make him out to be. -
Meh I'd put him at Will. Backside pursuit and coverage as a LB is his skill. I don't think he'd do well as a Mike constantly having to take on guards.
-
He has been the key to all this. I don't know why more people can't see it.
-
I'm not rooting for him. I want him to fail and I'm bemoaning the fact just like I bemoaned losing Steve Smith.
-
There's one poster in this thread who in another thread made a negative post about him and specifically mentioned his race. If that's not a no no then I guess I don't know the rules. Now I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like the guy. He always seemed like a nice guy, good teammate and he's the best RB in the NFL.

What do you mean reverse racism?
-
And against the Rams who completely shut us down outside of him. Can you imagine the numbers nines would do vs Tampa?
-
The maximum allowed time is end of this season.
-
His last TD and a big catch before that they bit. He opens up the offense for everyone.
-
We sure do.
-
But besides his touches he's opening up Kittle. The LBs and CBs see him out in the pattern and bite on it. Phucking moron Rhule
-
It would have been nice to see him with Boseman and this now blocking offensive line.
-
Bringing it up for a short amount of time while the trade is Raw is one thing. Bringing up said player for years after multiple offseasons is another. Especially when people are saying his backup is better. It was a bad trade!

Lol Cmac with the Hat Trick Rush TD Rec. TD Pass. TD Yeah Foreman is better.
