You typically have multiple practice fields If your stadium is grass you have an identical practice field that's grass. If your stadium is turf you have an identical practice field that's turf. If your stadium is grass you will also have a turf practice field for away games. But it would be stupid to practice on grass at home all week if your home stadium is field turf. Everything will feel different on game day that way. It would be like practicing on Bermuda greens for the two weeks leading up to the Masters Everything will feel off.

You practice on the surface you Play on that week typically. We had turf in college. But if we were going away to a grass field we would practice on the grass practice field that week.
